The iPhone 15 Pro is a compact, conventional smartphone; the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a much newer foldable that opens into an 8-inch workspace. The better fit depends less on which spec sheet looks bigger and more on whether you want pocket-friendly simplicity or a large screen for multitasking. They are different form factors from different release years, not same-generation rivals.

What does the price difference look like?
A single current price gap cannot be established from the available official listings: Samsung’s prices are for specific regions, while a current iPhone 15 Pro price in a matching market and storage tier is not established. The iPhone launched in 2023, so current availability and pricing may depend on remaining new stock or used and refurbished listings. Compare the same country, storage capacity and condition, and check whether the displayed price includes a promotion, trade-in or carrier offer.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra prices published by Samsung

| US Samsung product page, accessed October 7, 2026 | Storage tier not stated with the displayed starting price | From $2,099.99 before trade-in; offers were also advertised |
The UK figures are regional recommended retail prices and may change. The US figure is a volatile displayed starting price, not a universal price or a guaranteed checkout total. Samsung’s US product page and UK announcement do not provide a basis for subtracting a current iPhone price in a like-for-like comparison.

Which screen and form factor suits your day?
Choose the iPhone for a conventional phone experience
The 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro is the smaller, lighter device at 187g. Its 6.1-inch screen is always the screen you use; there is no unfolding step or inner display. That makes it the more straightforward choice if your priority is a familiar slab-style phone that takes less room in a pocket than the Fold8 Ultra when folded.
Choose the Fold8 Ultra for screen space
Folded, the Samsung measures 72.8 × 158.4 × 8.9mm and weighs 215g. Open it, and the 8-inch main display provides substantially more room for reading, viewing content or working across apps. The 6.5-inch cover display remains available when you do not want to unfold it. Its unfolded thickness is listed as 4.1mm, excluding the main-screen frame; that figure describes the open device, not its folded pocket profile.

The Fold8 Ultra’s main advantage is therefore the choice of two screen states, not simply a larger diagonal. Consider how often you would actually open the device: if most use is quick messaging and calls, the inner screen may matter less than the folded size and weight.

How do the camera systems compare?
The listed rear-camera hardware is different: the iPhone has a 48MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide and 12MP 3x telephoto; Samsung lists a 200MP wide camera, 50MP ultra-wide and 10MP 3x telephoto. Those figures identify sensors and lenses, but megapixel counts do not establish which phone takes better photos. No independent head-to-head camera testing is established here, so image quality, low-light performance and video results should not be inferred from the specification table alone.

Battery life and charging: unlike claims, not a winner
Apple publishes playback estimates for the iPhone 15 Pro: up to 23 hours of video playback, 20 hours of streamed video playback and 75 hours of audio playback. Those are Apple’s stated figures under its test conditions, not a promise of the same runtime for every user.
Samsung gives the Fold8 Ultra a 5,000mAh typical battery capacity, with a rated capacity of 4,854mAh, and says it can reach up to 67% charge in around 30 minutes using a 45W adapter and cable sold separately. Capacity and a charging-speed claim cannot be compared directly with Apple’s playback-hour estimates. Actual runtime varies with usage, settings and conditions.

Durability, SIM and practical ownership details
Water and dust protection
Apple lists IP68 under IEC 60529 for the iPhone 15 Pro. Samsung lists IP48 for the Fold8 Ultra; its water-resistance footnote describes laboratory submersion in up to 1.5m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes and cautions against beach or pool use. These ratings have different numbers and should not be treated as equivalent guarantees or evidence of identical real-world durability.

SIM compatibility
The US iPhone 15 Pro model is eSIM-only, while Samsung lists nano-SIM plus eSIM for the Fold8 Ultra. SIM configurations can vary by region, so check the exact regional model and confirm eSIM support with your carrier before buying, particularly if you rely on a physical SIM.

Charging accessories
Apple says a power adapter is not included with the iPhone 15 Pro. Samsung’s UK specifications list 45W wired charging and 20W fast wireless charging, but the 45W adapter is sold separately. Verify the regional box contents and accessory requirements for the specific listing you plan to buy.
Which one should you choose?
- Pick the iPhone 15 Pro if you want the smaller 6.1-inch conventional phone, prefer iOS, or value its lighter listed weight over an unfolding display.
- Pick the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if an 8-inch inner display for reading or multitasking is the deciding feature and you are comfortable carrying a heavier foldable.
- Compare current listings before deciding on value. The Samsung prices cited here are regional and dated; the available sources do not establish a matching current iPhone price or a universal price difference.
- Do not choose on camera or battery numbers alone. The listed hardware and manufacturer battery claims are not a substitute for comparable independent testing.
Samsung announced the Fold8 Ultra on August 6, 2026, and said sales would start the following day in select markets before expanding worldwide. Its announcement also reported that Galaxy Z series pre-orders increased by more than 30% over the previous generation; that is Samsung’s own figure, not independent evidence that this model is better for an individual buyer. See the Samsung launch announcement. Apple’s original launch announcement is available from Apple Newsroom.
