For U.S. shoppers, the 128GB iPad mini (A17 Pro) was reported at $499 on Amazon on October 6, 2026—$100 below its listed $599 MSRP. That was a meaningful discount, but not a record low: Macworld reported a previous low of $349 for the same model. Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6–7, so the event price is a dated snapshot, not a promise that the listing is still available.
What was the October Prime Day deal?
PhoneArena reported on October 6, 2026, that Amazon had taken $100 off the 128GB iPad mini (A17 Pro), putting it just under $500. Macworld’s U.S. deal table listed the price as $499, compared with a $599 MSRP. These reports describe U.S. pricing at that time; Amazon’s current price, stock and eligibility may differ. PhoneArena’s October 6 deal report and Macworld’s October 6 deal table provide the dated figures.

Tom’s Guide reported that Prime Big Deal Days 2026 ran October 6–7 as a 48-hour event and described the deals as exclusive to Prime members. That event window has passed; the event dates alone do not show whether Amazon continued this particular price or what conditions applied to a current listing. Tom’s Guide’s event coverage gives the reported dates.
Is $499 a good price, or should you wait?
At the reported $499, the 128GB model was $100 below its listed MSRP, but Macworld’s table also records a historical U.S. low of $349 for that same A17 Pro configuration. The October event price therefore was not the lowest price reported by that source. If you need a small iPad now and value a discount from MSRP, $499 may suit you; if your decision depends on getting close to the reported low, waiting for another sale is the more cautious choice. A past low is not a guarantee that the price will return.

Macworld also reported expectations of a possible successor later in October, with an OLED display and a newer processor. That was an expectation, not an Apple-confirmed launch or release date. Waiting may make sense if a potentially updated screen or processor matters more to you than buying now, but the available reporting does not establish when a successor would arrive or what it would cost. Macworld’s deal coverage is the source for both the historical low and the cautiously framed successor expectations.

- Choose by size: The mini’s 8.3-inch display and low listed Wi-Fi-model weight suit readers who prioritize a smaller tablet. If your work or entertainment benefits more from a larger screen, compare larger iPad models rather than treating a discount as a reason to compromise.
- Choose by storage: Apple offers 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The reported $499 deal applied to 128GB; the sources do not establish event prices for the larger capacities.
- Choose by connectivity: Apple offers Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions. The $499 figure was reported for the 128GB deal configuration; it should not be assumed to cover cellular models.
- Choose by timing: Compare any live offer with the $599 MSRP and Macworld’s reported $349 historical low for the 128GB model, while recognizing that neither figure guarantees today’s price or a future sale.
Was the discount available outside the U.S.?
No global $100 reduction is established by these reports. The $499 deal and $349 historical low refer to U.S. pricing. Macworld separately reported only a £5 reduction on the 128GB iPad mini in the UK at the time of its October 6 update, illustrating that regional pricing differed. Check the local retailer and currency rather than converting the U.S. offer into an international deal.
