A player can have a highly leveled account and still see only the launch roster, while someone who just bought the pass can have the additional fighters available before earning any substantial progression rewards. The two systems operate alongside each other rather than replacing one another.

Roster size and DLC timeline
Xbox Wire’s launch coverage says Quarter Up released Invincible VS on April 30, 2026 with a full 18-character roster and four modes. The later additions are counted separately from that launch lineup.

The October announcement is the more specific source for Angstrom Levy’s date. Earlier store copy placed a third character in a September slot, so use October 13, 2026—not the older September wording—when describing his release.
That date correction is useful for buyers checking whether content should already be present. As of October 13, Angstrom Levy is not an upcoming character in the announced schedule; he is the released third DLC fighter. The only unnamed entry in the pass schedule is the fourth fighter listed for December 2026.

The Year 1 Character Pass is an entitlement to four additional fighters planned throughout 2026. The store description lists Universa, The Immortal, a third fighter and a fourth fighter, with the later announcement identifying the third as Angstrom Levy. It also includes Zero Suit Mark and four color variants. The base game is required; buying the pass alone does not create a playable game license.
Universa and The Immortal are the first pair announced for the pass and joined the game on June 30. Angstrom Levy’s October 13 release makes him the third pass fighter and raises the total playable roster to 21. The fourth slot remains a December 2026 schedule entry without a published name in the cited material.
Pass ownership versus a character unlock
Buying the pass is not the same as earning a fighter by completing a ladder or reaching an account level. It is a store entitlement. Once the transaction is recognized on the same platform account that owns the base game, the included fighters should become available according to that platform’s add-on and content-management system.
If you only want one fighter, check whether that fighter is sold separately on your platform. Steam’s DLC catalog shows separate entries for The Immortal and Universa as additional fighters, along with cosmetic skins and bundles. A pass is therefore most relevant to players who want the complete announced Year 1 fighter set. An individual add-on can make more sense for a player interested in one released character, but the catalog, price and currency must be checked on the store where the game is owned. A Steam listing should not be assumed to describe the Xbox purchase path, and an Xbox bundle should not be assumed to have identical PC pricing.
Deluxe Edition and Digital Deluxe Upgrade
Skybound’s Help Center describes Deluxe content as a bundle of the base game, the Year 1 Character Pass, profile-card cosmetics, and Conquest and Allen the Alien bonus skins. This is the route for someone who does not own the game and wants the pass plus the Deluxe cosmetics in one purchase.
Players who already own the standard edition can buy the Digital Deluxe Upgrade. Xbox’s listing says the upgrade requires the game and does not include the base game. It itemizes Universa and The Immortal alongside the other digital content, while Skybound’s Deluxe description identifies the wider bundle contents. Store prices and sale messages change, so read the current platform listing before paying.
Download the included add-ons
Owning a bundle does not always mean every component is installed automatically. Skybound’s support guidance says to download the associated add-ons from the platform store to access Deluxe entitlements. On a console or PC, open the Invincible VS product page or your library’s add-on management screen, locate each owned item, and install it. Restart the game after installation so it can refresh the license and downloadable-content list.

What leveling actually unlocks
Skybound’s progression explanation assigns match XP to two places: your player account and each of the three characters on your team. Character levels and account levels are progression tracks, not alternate DLC licenses.
- Match XP: A completed match grants experience to the account and the three team characters.
- Level rewards: Leveling can provide cosmetics, arenas, music and other items.
- Mode rewards: Cosmetics can also be earned by completing Arcade Ladders, Story Mode and Ranked progression.
- Story rewards: Skybound specifically mentions alternate costumes from Story Mode.
Consequently, a player who has reached a high level may have many cosmetic rewards without owning any paid DLC fighter. Conversely, purchasing the Character Pass can grant fighter access even if the account has little progression.

Fighters, skins and cosmetics are different items
A fighter is a playable character with a moveset and team slot. A skin changes a character’s appearance, while a profile-card item, color variant, arena or music track is another type of cosmetic reward. Zero Suit Mark and the four listed color variants are pass content, while Conquest and Allen the Alien bonus skins are identified as Deluxe content. None of those cosmetic items should be described as additional fighters.
Training, Tutorial and Practice mode
The official Training FAQ confirms that Training is available from Main Menu → Training and offers Tutorial and Practice modes. That gives new players a place to learn the controls and rehearse situations before entering other modes.
The cited support page does not explain whether an unowned DLC fighter can be selected in Practice mode. Do not promise a free DLC trial in Training, and do not claim that Training requires a purchase, unless a current platform or game notice explicitly states the rule. If a character is absent, verify ownership first and then check the current in-game or store messaging.
A practical way to test your setup
- Open the game and choose Main Menu → Training.
- Enter Tutorial or Practice and inspect the character-selection screen.
- If a pass fighter you own is missing, exit the game and verify that the relevant add-on is installed on the account that purchased it.
- Reopen the game and check for an update or a license-refresh prompt from your platform.
This procedure confirms whether the installed content is recognized; it does not establish that unowned DLC is freely playable.
How to buy and install the right content
If you do not own Invincible VS
- Open the Invincible VS listing for your platform and compare the standard and Deluxe editions.
- Choose Deluxe if you want the base game, Year 1 Character Pass, profile-card cosmetics, and Conquest and Allen the Alien bonus skins.

- Check the purchase history for a completed transaction rather than an abandoned checkout or a different account.
- Verify the release date: a pass grants scheduled content as it becomes available; it does not make an unnamed future fighter playable before release.
The Deluxe upgrade will not install

Cosmetics appear but a fighter does not
Check the product description. Profile-card items, color variants and bonus skins are not character licenses. A bundle can contain both cosmetic content and fighters, but each item may appear in a different menu after installation.
A DLC fighter is not visible in Training
First confirm ownership and installation. The Training FAQ documents Tutorial and Practice but does not state the access rule for unowned DLC, so the absence of a character there should not be used as proof that the fighter is free or permanently unavailable in Training.
