Interactive Brokers (IBKR) can provide access to crypto staking, but it is not a single, universally available IBKR product with one published APY or fee. Staking is handled through an eligible digital-asset provider, principally Zero Hash, and availability depends on your account, residence, jurisdiction and the token you select. The platform shows the applicable asset, lock-up period, reward share and staking fee before you commit.
IBKR’s published crypto-trading commission is separate from staking economics: 0.12% to 0.18% of trade value, with a USD 1.75 minimum per executed order capped at 1% of trade value. IBKR says it adds no spread, markup or custody fee to that trading schedule. Your coins are held by Paxos or Zero Hash outside IBKR, in an account in your name, and are not SIPC-protected.

How crypto staking is arranged through IBKR
IBKR is the brokerage interface, not the crypto custodian. Its documentation identifies Paxos and Zero Hash as the providers that execute and custody digital assets. The provider holds the assets in an account in the client’s name outside the IBKR account. This structure matters because the provider’s terms, eligibility rules, fees and blockchain processes govern staking and transfers.
Staking itself is conditional. Zero Hash may limit the service by country, state, residence or other legal restrictions, and it may terminate access where staking is prohibited. Your logged-in platform is therefore more authoritative than a general webpage: it should display whether your account and selected asset are eligible, the applicable lock-up, your reward share and any staking charge.

What IBKR’s published fees do—and do not—cover
Crypto trading commission
IBKR’s current crypto pricing page, accessed October 13, 2026, lists a volume-tiered commission based on monthly trade value:
| Monthly crypto trade value | Published commission |
|---|---|
| Up to USD 100,000 | 0.18% |
| USD 100,000.01 to USD 1,000,000 | 0.15% |
| Above USD 1,000,000 | 0.12% |
The minimum is USD 1.75 per executed order, subject to a cap of 1% of that order’s trade value. IBKR states that this pricing has no added spread, markup or custody fee. These figures describe buying and selling crypto; they are not a universal staking fee and should not be used to estimate the cost of earning protocol rewards.
Staking-service charges
There is no single public percentage for staking across all assets. Zero Hash says the applicable charge is determined asset by asset and disclosed before staking. Validator and network charges can also be taken out before your reward share is calculated. Read the confirmation screen for the specific token rather than assuming the trading commission applies.

Withdrawal charges
IBKR’s general withdrawal schedule, accessed October 13, 2026, allows two free withdrawal requests per calendar month. Requests after that can incur a fee that varies by currency and withdrawal method. This is a brokerage withdrawal schedule, separate from blockchain network fees and any charge imposed by the crypto provider. A crypto transfer to an external wallet may therefore involve costs that are not visible in the two-request allowance.

Who is eligible to stake?
Eligibility is determined by more than having an IBKR account. Before transferring or staking funds, check all of the following:
- Legal entity: identify the IBKR entity servicing your account, because regional entities can have different permissions.
- Residence and physical location: Zero Hash can restrict or end staking where local law does not permit the service.
- Provider route: IBKR documentation identifies PAXOS and ZEROHASH routes, and not every account is permitted to use both.
- Asset support: the token must be supported by the provider connected to your account.
- Account status: any suitability, verification or transfer controls shown in the platform must be satisfied before staking can be enabled.
Do not infer eligibility from another customer’s account or from a token’s general availability on a public exchange. The provider, jurisdiction and account combination is what determines whether the staking control appears for you.
Which assets can be staked?
IBKR’s FAQ identifies Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) as available through both listed providers. It also lists additional tokens available through Zero Hash only. Because provider inventories and regional permissions can change, use the asset selector in your account as the current list. A token being tradable does not automatically mean it is stakeable.

Custody, ownership and protection
IBKR says it is not the custodian of the digital assets. Paxos or Zero Hash holds them outside the IBKR account, in an account in the client’s name. Those assets are not SIPC-protected, so the securities-protection framework that applies to eligible brokerage assets should not be treated as insurance for staked crypto.
The Zero Hash staking agreement states that you retain ownership of all digital assets you stake and that they remain your property at all times. Ownership, however, does not mean immediate availability: network bonding rules can prevent a staked asset from being transferred or withdrawn until the unstaking process finishes.
How rewards and restaking work
Staking rewards come from the applicable blockchain protocol. The rate displayed in the platform is an estimate and can vary with network conditions; Zero Hash does not guarantee a reward or a particular return. Your result can change as validator performance, protocol issuance and network participation change.
Before your share is credited, the applicable Zero Hash service fee, validator charges and network fees are deducted. Examine the pre-stake disclosure for the reward-share calculation and the deductions that apply to that asset. Some accounts may offer automatic restaking when you select it. If enabled, earned rewards are put back into the staking position rather than remaining available as an unstaked balance; confirm the setting and how to turn it off.

Unstaking: three separate events
“Unstake” is not one instantaneous action. Track these events separately:
- Instruction submitted: you request that the provider stop staking the asset.
- Network unbonding completed: the blockchain’s bonding or unbonding period expires. During this period, the asset can remain locked even though your request was accepted.
- Withdrawal availability: the provider marks the resulting balance as available for a transfer or withdrawal.
The Zero Hash agreement gives an example of up to ten days after Zero Hash receives an unstake instruction before the assets become available for withdrawal. That is an example, not a guaranteed timetable for every token. A network can impose a different period, and the provider’s status screen is the place to monitor the actual request.
Moving crypto to an external wallet
Staked crypto generally cannot be sent while it is locked. First complete the unstaking and wait until the provider shows the balance as withdrawable. Whether your particular IBKR account and provider route permit a transfer to your own wallet must be checked in the account’s crypto-transfer controls; it is not established by the existence of a staking balance alone.

A practical setup and withdrawal checklist
- Open the crypto or digital-assets section of your IBKR account and identify the servicing legal entity.
- Confirm that your country of residence and current physical location are eligible for staking.
- Check whether your account is routed to Paxos, Zero Hash or both; permissions are not universal.
- Select the token and read the asset-specific disclosure for the reward-share formula, staking fee, validator or network deductions, lock-up and estimated rate.
- Decide whether automatic restaking is appropriate and record the setting before confirming.
- Submit the stake and retain the confirmation showing the provider and terms.
- When you need liquidity, submit an unstake instruction and note its timestamp. Do not treat submission as proof that the coins are immediately transferable.
- Wait for the network bonding period and the provider’s “available for withdrawal” status.
- Request the transfer or withdrawal only after checking the destination details, network fee and the number of IBKR withdrawal requests already used that calendar month.
How to compare IBKR staking with another venue
A meaningful comparison must use the same asset and jurisdiction. Evaluate these dimensions side by side:
| Comparison axis | What to verify for IBKR |
|---|---|
| Provider and legal entity | Whether the account uses Paxos, Zero Hash or another permitted route, and which IBKR entity services you |
| Supported assets | Whether the selected token is stakeable through your account’s provider; ETH and SOL are identified through both providers, while additional tokens are listed through Zero Hash |
| Trading cost | 0.12%–0.18% commission, USD 1.75 minimum per executed order, capped at 1% of trade value |
| Staking cost | Asset-specific fee disclosed before staking, plus possible validator and network deductions |
| Reward calculation | Estimated, variable protocol rate and the reward share shown in the platform; no guaranteed APY |
| Lock-up and unbonding | The asset’s displayed lock-up and network period; the agreement gives an example of up to ten days after an unstake instruction |
| External-wallet transfer | Whether your account and provider route enable transfers after the balance becomes withdrawable |
| Custody and protection | Paxos or Zero Hash custody outside IBKR; crypto positions are not SIPC-protected |
| Jurisdiction | Eligibility based on residence, location, provider rules and applicable law |
IBKR’s public materials do not publish one worldwide staking fee, one guaranteed APY or one universal eligibility rule. For a fair comparison, capture the asset-specific figures displayed after you are logged in instead of comparing a generic headline rate.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Confusing trading commission with staking cost
The 0.12%–0.18% schedule applies to crypto trades. Staking deductions are disclosed separately and can include provider, validator and network amounts.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Assuming brokerage protection covers crypto
Staked positions are held outside IBKR by Paxos or Zero Hash and are not SIPC-protected. Review the provider agreement and your own counterparty risk tolerance.
Expecting an instant unstake
An accepted request can remain pending through the blockchain’s bonding period. Use the provider status and the asset’s stated timeline; the agreement’s up-to-ten-day example is not a promise for every network.
Counting the two free withdrawals as free blockchain transfers
The two-request allowance belongs to IBKR’s general withdrawal schedule. It does not eliminate network fees or provider charges, and later IBKR requests can have method- and currency-specific fees.
Relying on another account’s token list
Provider routing and jurisdiction change what you can stake. Check the token selector, provider name and eligibility notice in your own account immediately before committing funds.
