The Intel DC P4608 is a 6.4TB enterprise NVMe SSD, but it is a half-height, half-length PCIe add-in card—not a U.2 or M.2 drive. The $250 price is not verified as a current price for this model: a refurbished Oracle/OEM listing checked in 2026 was $710. Before buying, confirm the exact part number, that your system has a compatible PCIe x8 slot and room for the card, and what warranty the seller provides.
What the Intel DC P4608 6.4TB is
Intel identifies the P4608 as a 6.4TB data-center SSD with 3D TLC NAND. Its 2017 product-change notice lists the generic single-pack model as SSDPECKE064T701, a half-height PCIe 3.1 x8 card. Intel’s product-change notice is the primary reference for that product identity.

A separate refurbished Oracle/OEM retail listing identifies part SSDPECKE064T7S as an Intel Oracle 7335943 DC P4608, 6.4TB, PCIe 3.0, HHHL card. These part numbers describe related variants; check the seller’s label and listing details rather than assuming every P4608 listing is the same SKU.

The $250 figure is not established as a current market price for the exact P4608 variant. A Newegg listing for the refurbished Oracle/OEM SSDPECKE064T7S showed $710 when accessed in 2026; its warranty terms were seller-specific. That is one listing, not a reliable market average, and it differs from the generic Intel part number.

- Intel SSDPE2KE064T701 DC P4600 6.4TB NVMe PCIe 3.0 3D TLC 2.5" 3DWPD, FW QDV10190
At $250, the drive could be appealing if it is genuine, functional, compatible with your system, and covered by terms you accept. The low price alone does not establish value: a refurbished enterprise drive with limited recourse can be a worse purchase than a costlier drive with clear condition and warranty coverage. Compare offers only after matching the exact part number, condition, included hardware, and return or warranty terms.
Will it fit and work in your system?
The P4608 is an add-in card, not a cable-connected U.2 drive. Intel specifies PCIe 3.1 x8 for the generic P4608; the Oracle/OEM retail listing calls its card PCIe 3.0 and HHHL. PCIe generations are generally designed for backward compatibility, but that does not guarantee a particular server will recognize or support this drive: check the system’s documentation and firmware guidance.
- Slot: Provide a compatible PCIe slot with eight lanes available to the card. A physically long x16 slot may work electrically if its lane configuration and platform support are suitable; a slot wired for fewer lanes may limit compatibility or performance.
- Clearance: Confirm the chassis accepts a half-height, half-length card and that neighboring components do not block it.
- Boot and firmware: Check whether your server can boot from this NVMe card if that is your goal. Recognition as a data drive does not itself guarantee boot support.
- Cooling and power: Verify airflow and platform requirements for an enterprise add-in card. The supplied product identity and listing do not establish your server’s thermal or power suitability.
- Variant and condition: Ask for a clear photo of the label, exact part number, tested status, and return policy. OEM firmware or platform qualifications may matter; confirm compatibility with your hardware vendor or seller.
If your system only has M.2 sockets or U.2 drive bays and no suitable PCIe expansion slot, this card is not a direct replacement for those form factors.

How fast is the P4608?
Newegg’s ServerQue listing gives maximum specifications of up to 6,200 MB/s sequential read and 3,500 MB/s sequential write, plus up to 1,308,500 4KB random-read IOPS and 464,000 4KB random-write IOPS. Those are seller-listing figures, not independent measurements of a drive you might receive. Real performance depends on the workload, system, and drive condition.
The listing also states a 2,000,000-hour MTBF. MTBF is a statistical reliability measure, not a promise that an individual used or refurbished SSD will last for that duration. No endurance rating or power-loss-protection detail is established by the product identity and listing cited here; seek exact documentation for the particular part before relying on it for write-heavy or critical data.

Intel says its data-center drives are designed for high-workload environments and cautions against using client drives in multi-user server or storage systems. The P4608 is therefore aimed at server and data-center use rather than simply offering a large-capacity desktop upgrade. The Newegg listing describes it as particularly suitable for read-intensive server and data-center workloads.
Rank #3
For a read-heavy service, its listed sequential and random-read figures may be relevant, subject to verification on your platform. For sustained write-heavy work, confirm endurance and power-loss protection for the exact variant; the figures above do not answer those questions. Also consider whether your server can cool the card and whether the OEM part’s firmware is supported in your environment.
Buying checklist
- Match the item to a specific part number: SSDPECKE064T701 for Intel’s generic single pack or SSDPECKE064T7S for the Oracle/OEM listing cited here.
- Confirm it is a 6.4TB HHHL PCIe card, not a U.2 or M.2 P4608-related listing.
- Check your server’s PCIe slot wiring, physical clearance, airflow, firmware, and boot requirements.
- Get the seller’s written details for condition, testing, warranty, and return rights; do not treat a refurbished listing as equivalent to a new drive.
- Assess performance claims as listing specifications, and obtain endurance and power-loss-protection documentation if those characteristics matter to your workload.
