Insulating Mail is in Zone 6 at the large power plant west of the Great Wall Terraces. Reach the plant’s upper level, climb to the top, and open the fixed chest inside the small shack. The armor is built for electrical protection: guides report Defense 32, Ranged Defense 32, five Spirit Stone slots, and Lightning Resistance 70. The wording differs, but both descriptions point to the upper power-plant structure west of the Great Wall Terraces. No official map reference was identified, so use the landmarks and route below rather than relying on a precise map label.

- Leave the camp toward the western or back side of the village. Do not follow the lower route through the central village if you are trying to reach the elevated industrial area.
- Look for the climbable rocks and ledges. Work upward toward the raised platform. The route is vertical, so check the rock faces and platform edges for the next handhold instead of searching for a ground-level door.
- Continue toward the blue-lit point. This light is the practical landmark used by the walkthrough to keep the climb oriented toward the upper structure.
- Take the stairs to the small upper room. The stairs lead into the enclosed room associated with the power-plant pickup.
- Use the nearby purple symbol as a confirmation point. The strongbox is inside the small room or shack near this marker.
- Open the fixed chest. Insulating Mail is obtained directly from the chest; there is no reported requirement to defeat a particular enemy first.
If the area looks like a village rather than an industrial power plant, you are probably still on the lower approach. Keep climbing toward the raised western platform until the blue-lit landmark and upper stairs come into view.

The wiki’s item description calls it “Insulated armor that protects against electricity. Increases the wearer’s resistance to shock.” The Lightning Resistance field is displayed as “70,” without an explicit percent sign, so it is safest to preserve that value exactly rather than converting it to 70% or claiming a specific percentage of damage prevented.

What the numbers mean in practice
Lightning Resistance 70
The clearest reason to equip Insulating Mail is an encounter in which lightning or shock damage is a major threat. A reported Lightning Resistance of 70 gives the armor a distinct elemental role instead of making it a generic defensive upgrade. It is especially relevant when you can identify the next area’s damage type before entering the fight.
The available guides do not provide a damage-reduction formula, a before-and-after test, or a confirmed percentage conversion for the value 70. Treat it as the game’s displayed resistance stat, not as a promise that incoming lightning damage will be reduced by exactly 70 percent.
Defense 32 and Ranged Defense 32
Defense 32 gives Insulating Mail a solid baseline for ordinary survivability, while the armor wiki separately lists Ranged Defense 32. Because both values are guide-reported listings, they are useful for comparing menu statistics but do not establish how the armor performs against every attack animation or enemy type.

Five Spirit Stone slots
Five Spirit Stone slots are the armor’s main customization advantage. You can use them to reinforce the build you already brought into the area instead of sacrificing all flexibility for elemental protection. The correct stones depend on your setup; the sources establish the number of slots, but do not identify a universal five-stone combination.
Extreme Enemy Awareness
Extreme Enemy Awareness is the decisive drawback. The walkthrough guidance characterizes Insulating Mail as a poor fit for quiet approaches and recommends changing to quieter armor when stealth is the priority. That recommendation is an interpretation of the displayed awareness label, not a firsthand measurement of detection distance or enemy vision.
Is Insulating Mail good for stealth builds?
Usually no. If your plan depends on slipping past patrols, opening encounters from concealment, or keeping enemies from entering an alert state, the Extreme Enemy Awareness label works against that plan. The practical approach is to carry a quieter armor option and change before an infiltration segment.

Insulating Mail can still make sense for a stealth-oriented character after detection is unavoidable. For example, you might use quiet armor to reach a guarded area, then switch to Insulating Mail before a lightning-heavy battle. This is a situational swap rather than evidence that the armor supports stealth by itself.
When to equip it

There is no universal best armor independent of encounter and playstyle. Compare four things before committing: ordinary Defense, Spirit Stone capacity, resistance to the damage type you expect next, and Enemy Awareness. Insulating Mail wins when electrical protection and flexible stone slots matter more than remaining hidden.

How to compare it with another armor
- Identify the immediate threat. If the next encounter is known to use lightning, give resistance more weight than a small difference in general defense.
- Check the displayed defense values. Compare Defense first, then Ranged Defense if the area is dominated by projectiles or ranged attacks.
- Count Spirit Stone slots. Five slots make Insulating Mail adaptable, but only if your build has stones worth equipping.
- Account for detection. Extreme Enemy Awareness can outweigh its defensive benefits during a route that requires avoiding combat.
- Choose for the whole segment, not one screenshot. The armor that is best for the approach may not be best for the boss or elemental hazard at the end.
This method avoids treating the armor as a permanent upgrade. Its value comes from matching the next danger, not from having the highest single number in every category.
Pickup troubleshooting
You cannot find the chest
- Return to Mountain Village Entrance and verify that you are following the western or back side of the village.
- Climb toward the raised platform rather than searching at ground level.
- Use the blue-lit point to confirm that you are on the intended upper route.
- Take the stairs into the small upper room and inspect the strongbox near the purple symbol.
- If the room looks like an ordinary village interior, continue upward; the destination is described as an industrial power-plant shack or metal room.
The location looks different from a guide
The environmental descriptions are not identical: one source says “small shack at the power plant,” while another says “small metal room/shack” in the western industrial village. These descriptions are compatible at the level needed for navigation. Focus on the power plant west of the Great Wall Terraces, the elevated approach and the upper enclosed room rather than an exact architectural label.
You are unsure whether the armor is worth keeping equipped
Read the next encounter’s demands. Keep it on for a lightning-sensitive fight or when its five Spirit Stone slots complete your setup. Change away from it for stealth sections where Extreme Enemy Awareness creates more risk than its resistance prevents.
Limitations of the reported figures
The available information comes from community guides and an armor wiki rather than an official developer or publisher database. The reported values are therefore best used as menu-stat and route guidance. No source establishes exact damage reduction, detection-radius changes, upgrade scaling, or a guaranteed ranking against every other armor. In particular, Lightning Resistance 70 should remain an in-game displayed value, and Extreme Enemy Awareness should remain a guide-reported warning rather than a quantified stealth penalty.
