You can try a community Google Camera (GCam) port on the POCO C85 4G or Redmi 15C 4G by sideloading its APK, but no build is confirmed as universally compatible with either phone. Check the exact model and HyperOS version, download only from a source whose publisher and package you can verify, and keep the built-in camera as your fallback.
What to expect from GCam on these phones
GCam ports are modified, unofficial versions of Google Camera distributed by third parties. Xiaomi does not officially support them, and whether a port installs or works reliably can vary with the specific build, firmware and region. The official Redmi 15C specifications list a MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra processor, a 50 MP main rear camera, an 8 MP front camera and HyperOS 2. POCO lists the same processor and camera resolutions for the C85 on its Saudi specifications page. These hardware specifications do not establish that every GCam port will recognize every camera or support HDR, night mode, video or other features. Xiaomi also notes that features and services can vary by software version and phone model.

GETDroidTips’ device-specific guide, updated August 30, 2026, names the following as candidates. Its list is a recommendation, not evidence that any option is the best or stable on every POCO C85 4G or Redmi 15C 4G.

Use the guide’s POCO C85 and Redmi 15C GCam article to identify its named candidates, but verify the download publisher and package identity before installing anything. The official phone specification pages do not provide a Xiaomi GCam APK, and no APK hash is established here. Do not treat a download link as safe simply because it appears on a device guide.
Before installing an APK
- Confirm the exact phone model in Settings and note its Android or HyperOS version. Similar names do not guarantee identical firmware or camera behavior.
- Choose a build only if its source identifies the publisher and package clearly and you trust that source. Avoid repackaged files or downloads with unclear provenance.
- Keep the built-in camera available. Installing a community port does not replace the need for a working fallback.
- Do not assume an XML configuration file is required. Configuration support and requirements depend on the individual port.
How to sideload and install GCam
- Download the APK for a candidate build from a source you trust. Check that the package and Android support match what the publisher says; do not assume a build works merely because it is listed for these phone names.
- Open the downloaded APK from your browser’s downloads list or a file manager. If Android blocks the install, it may prompt you to allow that browser or file manager to install unknown apps. Grant this permission only for the source you trust; the exact label and menu path can vary by software version.
- Return to the APK and follow Android’s installer, then tap Install when prompted.
- When installation finishes, open the app and check whether it launches and whether the camera functions you need work. Test the front and rear cameras and, if relevant, still photos, video and modes you plan to use.
- If you enabled permission to install unknown apps, you can turn it off again in Settings for that browser or file manager.
If installation fails or the app crashes
- Android refuses to install: Recheck the APK’s source, package identity and stated Android support. Check whether a conflicting GCam build is already installed before trying another package. Do not disable security protections wholesale.
- The app installs but closes or crashes: Stop using that build and try another reported candidate only if you can verify its source. A different build or compatible configuration may behave differently, but no configuration is established as necessary or guaranteed for these models.
- The app opens but a camera or mode does not work: Treat that as a compatibility limitation of the port on your particular firmware, not proof that the phone’s hardware lacks the feature. Use the built-in camera for the affected function.
The guide mentions changing a Camera2 API property in build.prop as a possible troubleshooting measure. That is advanced, unverified advice for these phone variants, not a normal install step; it may require root access and changes to system properties can create additional problems. Do not make that change casually or assume it will fix a crash.

How to judge whether a candidate is usable
Evaluate a port on your own phone rather than choosing by version number or a “stable” label. Check whether it installs on your exact software build, whether the main and front cameras work, whether the modes you need function, and whether the app remains stable during ordinary use. If a configuration file is offered, verify its source and match before importing it. The available evidence does not establish a tested winner for either device.
