En macOS, la forma de instalar o quitar una app depende de dónde la obtuviste. Para una descarga de internet, abre el archivo de imagen de disco o paquete y sigue el instalador; para eliminar una app externa, comprueba primero si incluye un desinstalador. Las apps de App Store se gestionan desde App Store, Launchpad o Finder. Apple detalla estos procedimientos en sus instrucciones para apps descargadas de internet o un disco, guía para eliminar apps y guía de compras de App Store.
Instalar una app descargada de internet o de un disco
- Abre Finder y ve a Descargas, o localiza el archivo en la ubicación donde lo guardaste.
- Abre la imagen de disco o el archivo de paquete de la app. Si la imagen o el paquete no abre automáticamente el proceso, abre el instalador proporcionado.
- Sigue las instrucciones que aparecen en pantalla. Si la app está en un disco, inserta el disco en la unidad óptica del Mac o en una unidad conectada a él y abre el instalador.
Apple advierte que puede aparecer un aviso relacionado con un desarrollador no identificado. No intentes sortearlo sin comprobar primero qué significa y si la app es de confianza. La documentación consultada remite a información adicional, pero no establece aquí los pasos para resolver ese aviso.

Desinstalar una app que no es de Apple
Primero busca el desinstalador
En Finder, localiza la app y revisa su carpeta para ver si incluye una herramienta como «Desinstalar [nombre de la app]» o «Desinstalador de [nombre de la app]». Si existe, ejecútala y sigue sus instrucciones. Apple recomienda esta opción porque puede retirar también elementos de inicio de sesión, extensiones y otros archivos que la app haya guardado fuera de su carpeta principal.

Si no hay desinstalador, mueve la app a la Papelera
- Cierra la app si está abierta. En Finder, localízala —a menudo está en la carpeta Aplicaciones— y arrástrala a la Papelera.
- Si macOS solicita una contraseña o autorización, usa las credenciales de una cuenta administradora.
- Para completar la eliminación y recuperar el espacio, vacía la Papelera. Esta acción hace permanente el borrado de la app.
Si macOS indica que la app está en uso, ciérrala y vuelve a intentarlo. Si el problema persiste, Apple recomienda reiniciar el Mac o probar de nuevo en modo seguro.

Quitar una app descargada de App Store
Apple documenta la eliminación de apps de App Store desde Launchpad: el botón para eliminar aparece únicamente en apps obtenidas de la tienda. También puedes localizar una app en Finder y quitarla desde allí. Los nombres y controles pueden variar según la versión de macOS.
Para instalar de nuevo una compra, abre App Store con la cuenta Apple asociada, busca la app en la sección de compras y selecciona Descargar. La disponibilidad depende de la cuenta con la que se obtuvo.

Qué no se elimina al desinstalar
- Documentos creados con la app: borrar la aplicación no elimina necesariamente los documentos u otros archivos que creaste con ella. Puede que necesites conservar la app para abrirlos.
- Suscripciones: eliminar una app no cancela una suscripción comprada dentro de ella. La cancelación debe gestionarse aparte.
- Apps necesarias para macOS: algunas no pueden eliminarse mediante estos procedimientos, incluidas muchas apps que vienen con el sistema y las ubicadas en la carpeta Sistema. Safari y Mail son ejemplos de apps integradas que no se pueden desinstalar por los métodos normales.
