How long does the Insta360 Luna Ultra battery last?
Insta360 lists the Luna Ultra’s main-unit battery at 1,550mAh and its detachable touchscreen remote battery at 210mAh. Its hardware specification gives a 240-minute battery-life result under a specific laboratory setup: recording standard video at 1080p/24fps, with the camera screen and Wi-Fi off, at 77°F (25°C). The company cautions that actual battery life varies.
In a separate FAQ, Insta360 describes up to four hours in Endurance Mode under a 1080p/24fps laboratory condition at 77°F (25°C), again noting that real-world runtime varies. These figures describe a low-demand, controlled recording setup; they should not be treated as an all-day or all-modes estimate.

Why the four-hour figure may not match a real shoot
The camera supports recording up to 8K/30fps and 4K/120fps. Those modes, along with operating choices such as using the screen or wireless features, make the manufacturer’s screen-off, Wi-Fi-off 1080p result a poor direct forecast for every shoot. The available sources do not provide reliable runtime figures for individual resolutions or frame rates.
Digital Camera World reported that its reviewer experienced nearer two hours, often using 8K, and recounted a shoot that stopped when the camera ran out of battery during an interview. This is a useful warning about the gap between a lab benchmark and a high-resolution shoot, but it is one reviewer’s report under their own conditions—not a standardized test or a universal 8K runtime.

Is the Luna Ultra battery fixed or replaceable?
The manufacturer information available here states the internal battery capacity and charging guidance, but does not explicitly say whether the battery can be removed or replaced by the user. A listed capacity, by itself, does not settle that question. It would therefore be inaccurate to state categorically that the internal battery is fixed or user-replaceable on this evidence.

That uncertainty does not mean there is no way to add power during a longer day: Insta360 lists a separate Battery Handle for the Luna Series as compatible with the Luna Ultra. The stated compatibility does not establish how much extra recording time it provides, or whether recording can continue in every workflow while it is connected.

How to plan for a longer shoot
If a missed take would matter, plan around the mode and setup you expect to use rather than treating four hours as your available shooting time. This is a conservative planning approach based on the mismatch between the manufacturer’s controlled benchmark and the independent reviewer’s 8K experience; it is not a measured guarantee for your setup.
- Choose the recording mode before estimating the day. The manufacturer lists modes up to 8K/30fps and 4K/120fps, but does not state a runtime for each.
- Decide how you will use the screen and wireless features. The 240-minute specification was measured with the screen and Wi-Fi off, so a setup that differs from those conditions should not be assumed to match it.
- Bring a compatible power option. The official Battery Handle for Insta360 Luna Series is listed as compatible with Luna Ultra. Treat it as an additional power option, not as a documented number of extra hours.
- Plan charging around breaks. Insta360’s charging estimates are about 23 minutes to 80% and about 38 minutes to 100% when using a 45W USB-C PD3.0 PPS charger with the camera powered off. These are manufacturer lab measurements; actual times may vary. Confirm that your charger meets the stated specification.
- Consider the shoot environment. Insta360 says the Luna Ultra is not waterproof, splashproof or dustproof. Its stated operating-temperature range is 32°F to 104°F (0°C to 40°C), so weather protection and operating conditions matter on outdoor jobs.
What a 100-day review can—and cannot—establish
The Luna Ultra was announced in June 2026, making a 100-day review chronologically possible by October 5, 2026. But the battery figures and the independent review cited here do not establish that a particular writer personally used the camera for 100 days. They support a narrower conclusion: four hours is a manufacturer result under specified 1080p conditions, while one reviewer reported nearer two hours in use that often involved 8K.

A meaningful long-term account would need to identify the recording modes, screen and wireless settings, typical clips per charge, use of the Battery Handle, and charging conditions. Without those details, “100-day review” should not be read as evidence of a measured 100-day battery test.
