For an India-specific comparison, the Redmi A7 is the closest clearly documented Redmi A-series match. It offers a higher listed rear-camera resolution, expandable storage, and a stated software-update commitment. The Infinix Smart 20 HD has a higher reported ingress-protection rating. Neither set of specifications establishes which phone is faster, lasts longer in real use, or takes better photos. Compare the exact configurations and current prices before buying; “Redmi A-series” alone is too broad for a fair comparison.

How the differences matter for everyday use
Display: both list 120Hz, but neither figure proves smoothness
Both phones are listed with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Redmi A7 has the larger listed screen: 6.88 inches versus 6.67 inches for the Smart 20 HD. A 120Hz specification describes the maximum refresh rate, not how consistently an app or the phone’s hardware will deliver it. Xiaomi’s Redmi A7 product page calls its screen a “17.48cm(6.88) large display” and says it gives users more space; that is manufacturer wording, not an independent assessment of viewing quality.
Battery and charging: capacity is not an endurance result
The Redmi A7’s listed typical capacity is 5,200mAh, compared with the Smart 20 HD’s reported 5,000mAh. Both are listed at 15W charging, although Xiaomi specifies that as the A7’s maximum and says a charger is included in the box. The capacity figures alone cannot show how long either phone lasts between charges; that depends on the device and usage, and no matched battery test is available here. Xiaomi also says the A7 supports 7.5W wired reverse charging.

Cameras: compare hardware, not assumed photo quality
The listed rear-camera resolutions are 13MP on the Redmi A7 and 8MP on the Smart 20 HD; both are listed with 8MP front cameras. That makes the Redmi’s rear-camera specification clearer on paper, but megapixels alone do not establish detail, low-light performance, color, focus, or overall photo quality. No matched photo test is available to determine which produces better images.

The base RAM-and-storage listings match at 3GB and 64GB. Both sources report microSD expansion, but only Xiaomi’s A7 specifications state a maximum capacity: up to 2TB through a dedicated slot. Gadgets 360 does not state the Smart 20 HD’s microSD limit. Before purchasing, confirm that the retailer’s listing is for the exact model and configuration you want.

Protection and software support: different documented advantages
The Smart 20 HD’s reported IP64 rating is higher than the Redmi A7’s official IP52 rating. These are ingress-protection ratings, not promises that a phone cannot be damaged; handle either device according to its manufacturer’s guidance. For software longevity, Xiaomi explicitly states two years of OS updates and four years of security updates for the A7. The cited Smart 20 HD report lists Android 15 with XOS 15.1 but does not establish an equivalent update commitment.

The Redmi A5 is not interchangeable with the A7. Xiaomi India lists the A5 with a 6.88-inch HD+ display with up to 120Hz, 3GB+64GB or 4GB+128GB configurations, a 32MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a 5,200mAh battery, IP52, Android 15, microSD expansion up to 2TB, two Android updates, and four years of security patches. Xiaomi identifies 2025 as the A5’s launch year. Check before choosing
- Compare current India prices for the same market and exact RAM/storage configuration. The Smart 20 HD’s ₹10,999 figure is a reported launch starting price, not confirmation of today’s retail price; 91mobiles describes its launch price as inclusive of offers. Current matched prices and stock are not established here.
- Check the full model name. Infinix’s separate Smart 20 (without “HD”) is a different phone: its official India page lists Android 16, a 6.78-inch display, a 5,200mAh battery, and other specifications that should not be attributed to the Smart 20 HD. See Infinix India’s Smart 20 page.
- If speed, battery endurance, or camera results are decisive, look for matched tests of the exact regional models. The specifications cited here do not establish those real-world outcomes.
