The latest listed release is v2.0.0 Patch 2 (January 19, 2024). Install that exact CurseForge profile, allocate the published 6–8 GB of RAM, and use the included Essential hosting route if you want to play with friends without purchasing a separate server. A dedicated server is possible only after you verify server files for this exact release.

What Infernal Origins is
Infernal Origins is an MMO-inspired, high-difficulty Minecraft pack created by DaddyUnion. Its design is closer to a sequence of dangerous, replayable runs than to a relaxed vanilla survival world. You choose a class-like Origin, build power through fast progression, fight bosses with raid-style mechanics, and deal with difficulty that increases as the world advances.

The creator describes the intended group size as at least 3+ players
, while also stating that solo play is supported. A group gives the pack more room to use its role system, but a solo player can still start a run and learn the progression.
Release, Minecraft version and modloader
| Item | Documented value |
|---|---|
| Latest listed pack release | v2.0.0 Patch 2 |
| Release date | January 19, 2024 |
| Minecraft version | Java Edition 1.16.5 |
| Modloader | Forge |
| Recommended memory | 6–8 GB of RAM, as stated on the project page |
| Designed group size | At least three players; solo play is allowed |
Use Minecraft Java Edition, not a Bedrock installation. The version and loader are part of the pack’s compatibility requirements: a Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt, or other Minecraft-version profile is not an interchangeable substitute for the listed Forge 1.16.5 profile.

Why the pack feels different from ordinary survival
Thirteen role-based Origins
Infernal Origins includes 13 custom Origins arranged around roles such as damage dealer (DPS), healer, tank and utility. Your Origin is not merely a cosmetic choice. It determines the kind of contribution you make in combat and the way your progression interacts with a group.
Each Origin upgrades after the Ender Dragon is killed. That creates a major progression checkpoint: defeating the dragon is both an objective and a trigger for making your chosen role stronger. Plan a build around the post-dragon stage instead of treating the dragon as the final goal.

Difficulty scales over time. If a party falls behind the expected progression, later encounters can become more punishing rather than remaining at a fixed level. This is why the pack is framed around roguelike-style repeated attempts: a failed run gives you information about routes, equipment, roles and boss mechanics, while the next run can be approached more deliberately.
- Keep the party’s equipment and progression moving instead of spending too long in an early tier.
- Coordinate roles before difficult encounters so the group is not missing healing, protection or damage.
- Treat a wipe as part of the learning loop; identify the mechanic that caused it before restarting.
Bosses with raid-style mechanics
The pack adds familiar bosses with custom mechanics, including attacks designed to wipe an unprepared group. Standard Minecraft tactics are not enough for every encounter. Watch for pattern-based attacks, organize where players stand, and make sure the party can recover after a large hit rather than committing every resource at once.
MMO-style loot and large stacks
Items use custom rarities and border treatments, giving loot a more MMO-like identity than the normal Minecraft item list. Item stack sizes are raised to 999, which changes storage planning and makes bulk materials considerably easier to move. Do not assume that vanilla stack-size habits or a familiar inventory layout will remain optimal.

Install Infernal Origins with CurseForge
The safest installation is a clean CurseForge profile generated for the pack. This keeps the Forge loader, Minecraft version, mods and configuration in the dedicated modding folder that CurseForge manages.
- Install or open the CurseForge app. Use the Minecraft section of the app rather than manually copying individual mods into an unrelated profile.
- Open Browse or Discover and choose Minecraft modpacks. Search for Infernal Origins.
- Select the listed release for Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge. Choose v2.0.0 Patch 2, which is the latest release identified for the pack.
- Allow CurseForge to create the profile. Let it build the profile and its dedicated modding folder so the pack’s files stay together.
- Launch the generated profile. The first launch can take longer while Forge and the pack initialize; wait for the title screen before changing settings.
Do not add the pack’s mods to a Fabric, NeoForge or Quilt profile, and do not combine it with a different Minecraft version. CurseForge’s compatibility rule is straightforward: the loader and game version must match the profile that the pack was built for.
First-launch checks
Before beginning a serious run, confirm that the launcher started the intended profile rather than a vanilla instance or another modpack.
- Check the profile name in CurseForge and verify that it identifies Infernal Origins.
- Confirm the game reports Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge during startup.
- Enter a test world or the pack’s multiplayer screen and verify that custom content loads without missing-mod errors.
- Open the controls or voice-chat prompt and test the proximity-chat key, X, with a microphone connected.
If the game launches vanilla, return to CurseForge and start the generated Infernal Origins profile instead of using the standard Minecraft launcher entry. If a loader or version mismatch appears, recreate the profile rather than trying to repair it by mixing files from another installation.
How much RAM Infernal Origins needs
The project page publishes one explicit hardware recommendation: 6–8 GB of RAM. It does not publish complete CPU, GPU, storage or operating-system requirements, so there is no reliable basis for assigning a specific processor or graphics card.

Set the launcher’s allocated memory within that documented range and leave enough physical memory for the operating system and background applications. Allocating every available gigabyte to Minecraft can make the computer less stable, especially when a browser, streaming software or voice application is open.
- If the launcher reports memory pressure, close other heavy applications first.
- Keep the profile’s allocation consistent for testing; changing several settings at once makes crashes harder to diagnose.
- Large modpacks may pause during world generation or resource loading. A short pause is different from a crash, so allow the first launch time to finish before force-closing it.
Because no complete CPU, GPU or operating-system specification is published, treat the 6–8 GB figure as the pack’s documented memory recommendation, not as a guarantee of identical frame rates on every computer.
Play with friends without buying a separate server
Essential is included in Infernal Origins and provides the documented friend-hosting path. For a small group, this is the shortest route because it avoids purchasing and administering a separate server.
- Have every player install the same profile. Each computer must use Infernal Origins v2.0.0 Patch 2 on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge.
- Launch the pack and open Essential’s host/invite flow. Use the in-game prompts supplied by the included Essential integration to create or host the session.
- Invite the other players through that flow. Friends should join only after their own matching profile has finished loading.
- Test the world with a short session. Confirm that everyone can connect, load the same content and see the expected Origin and item systems before starting a long progression run.
- Test proximity voice chat. The documented activation key is X. A gaming headset with a microphone is the most direct setup for hearing nearby players and speaking without relying on a separate voice service.
Essential hosting is best suited to a small group that can tolerate the host’s availability. If the host closes the game or is offline, the session is not equivalent to an always-on dedicated server.
Essential hosting versus a dedicated server
| Decision factor | Essential friend hosting | Dedicated server |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Shortest documented path because Essential is included in the pack | Higher; you must obtain and verify server files for the exact Forge 1.16.5 release |
| Cost | Can avoid buying a separate server for a small group | Requires paid hosting or your own always-on hardware |
| Control | Limited to the host session and its availability | More control over uptime, backups, permissions and who can connect |
| Compatibility risk | All clients still need the same pack, version and loader | Clients and server must match, including dependencies, configs and world-generation files |
| Voice chat | Uses the pack’s included proximity chat; key is X | Requires the same client-side voice-chat setup, plus a server configuration that supports it |
Choose Essential when the group is small and the priority is getting into a world quickly. Choose a dedicated server when independent uptime, scheduled backups, persistent access or administrative controls justify the extra setup and cost.

What is known—and not known—about dedicated-server deployment
The canonical Infernal Origins page does not publish a dedicated-server recipe. That means there is no confirmed command sequence, server-pack download or guaranteed Docker image for this specific release in the available project information.
General Modrinth documentation lists Modrinth Servers, mrpack-install and the itzg/minecraft-server Docker image as server-side modpack tools. Those tools are technical leads, not proof that they support Infernal Origins v2.0.0 Patch 2. Before deploying one, verify all of the following for the exact pack release:
- A server pack or installation method that explicitly supports Forge on Minecraft 1.16.5.
- Every required mod and dependency, including server-compatible versions.
- The pack’s configuration files, scripts and world-generation data.
- Client-to-server version matching, including the patch level rather than only the Minecraft version.
- A test world that loads and allows a second client to join before inviting the full group.
Do not assume that a generic Forge server or a client-side export is sufficient. Missing configurations or generation files can produce a world that starts but does not behave like the intended pack.
Dedicated-server verification checklist
- Identify the exact release. Record v2.0.0 Patch 2, Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge before downloading anything.
- Obtain a release-matched server package. If no package is published, contact the project maintainers or build only from documented, version-matched files.
- Install the server in a separate directory. Keep it isolated from a client profile so server files cannot overwrite your local instance.
- Start once and inspect the log. Stop on missing dependencies, wrong-loader errors or configuration failures instead of allowing players to join a partial installation.
- Connect with one matching client. Test login, Origins, loot rarity behavior, stack sizes, boss content and voice-chat expectations.
- Back up the world before public play. A persistent server needs a recovery plan for failed updates, corrupted chunks or an unsuccessful configuration change.
Compatibility and troubleshooting
The launcher shows the wrong Minecraft version
Remove or recreate the profile and select the listed 1.16.5 Forge release. Do not try to force the pack into a newer version; the pack’s mods and configurations may not be compatible.
The game starts without the pack’s content
Check that you launched the CurseForge-generated profile. Starting a vanilla entry or a different modloader profile can produce a clean game that has none of Infernal Origins’ Origins, bosses or item systems.

A friend cannot join
Compare the two profiles character for character: pack release, Minecraft version and Forge loader. A player on another patch or a manually assembled mod list can be rejected even when the displayed Minecraft version looks correct.
Memory warnings or crashes occur during loading
Confirm that allocation is within the published 6–8 GB range, close other memory-heavy applications and retry the clean profile. If the problem persists, record the launcher and game error rather than adding random mods or changing loaders; the published project information does not define a broader hardware fix.

Voice chat does not work
Connect a microphone and test the X key in a multiplayer session. Verify that every player is running the same pack profile. If the game itself loads but voice does not, troubleshoot the headset and operating-system microphone permission separately from modpack compatibility.
A practical first session plan
- Choose complementary Origins. With three or more players, cover damage, healing, protection and utility rather than selecting identical roles.
- Set communication expectations. Test proximity chat before combat and agree how the group will call out boss mechanics.
- Advance steadily. The scaling difficulty penalizes falling behind, so gather upgrades and explore with a progression target in mind.
- Study encounters. Treat custom boss attacks as mechanics to learn, not as ordinary vanilla fights.
- Prepare for the Ender Dragon checkpoint. The dragon kill upgrades every Origin, making it a pivotal party milestone.
- Store loot efficiently. Rarity borders help distinguish equipment, while 999-item stacks change how much storage and transport capacity you need.
Bottom line
For the listed latest release, install Infernal Origins v2.0.0 Patch 2 through CurseForge on Minecraft Java 1.16.5 with Forge, allocate 6–8 GB of RAM, and start multiplayer through the included Essential integration. The pack’s 13 Origins, scaling difficulty, raid-style bosses and MMO-style loot reward coordinated groups, although solo play is supported. Use a dedicated server only after you have verified a server package and every dependency for this exact release; the project page does not provide a confirmed deployment recipe.
