The account comes from an Instagram video, as reported by Hindustan Times; the outlet said it had not independently verified the claims.
What Shrutika said she was looking for
In the Instagram video described by Hindustan Times, Shrutika set out three non-negotiables for her first full-time job in India:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Work that would help her grow: She wanted a role that challenged her and gave her opportunities to learn.
- A multinational company: She said she hoped to use her international work experience and understanding of different markets.
- At least ₹7 lakh per year: She said some startups offered interesting work but could not meet the compensation she wanted.
Why she set a ₹7 lakh minimum
Shrutika connected her salary expectation to her education, the experience she had built and the kind of role she wanted. Hindustan Times quoted her saying: “My minimum was 7 LPA. I wasn’t willing to go below that. Not because I thought I was entitled to 7 LPA as a fresher, but because I knew how much I’ve invested in my education, the experience I have built, and the kind of role I’m looking for.”
She also said, “I just knew the value I’m bringing to the table.” The ₹7 lakh figure is her personal minimum as reported in 2026—not a salary survey, a market-rate estimate or a benchmark for other people returning from abroad.

Why she chose to wait
Shrutika said she would rather wait for a job aligned with her priorities than accept one simply because it was available. She described the search as difficult and said the defined criteria sometimes made her wonder whether she was being too picky.
Hindustan Times said its report was based on user-generated social-media content, that it had not independently verified the claims, and that it had reached out to Shrutika for comment. The report does not say how long her search lasted, identify an employer she joined, or establish whether she eventually accepted a job.
