YouTube Studio lets you schedule an upcoming live broadcast, but its standard scheduling flow does not itself play a prerecorded video. For a recorded news programme, schedule the event in Studio and use a compatible encoder or service that explicitly supports scheduled prerecorded playback to YouTube Live. For English and Hindi, plan separate broadcasts or use selectable audio tracks on an uploaded video where your channel has access; do not assume one live stream automatically carries both languages.
Choose the right format for your news programme
First decide whether viewers should watch a live event at a set time, or whether a recorded file must be played out as though it were live. YouTube Studio’s scheduled-stream workflow creates an upcoming event and watch page; prerecorded playback is a separate encoder or service capability.

- Scheduled live event: You or your newsroom starts a live encoder at the scheduled time. Viewers can visit the upcoming stream page and set a reminder.
- Recorded programme presented as live: A compatible third-party encoder or service must schedule and play the prerecorded file into YouTube Live. YouTube’s encoder documentation mentions this as a vendor feature, not as a capability of every encoder or of Studio itself. Verify the provider’s current scheduling and playback support before committing to a broadcast. YouTube encoder setup guidance
- On-demand bilingual video: Upload the programme and, if your channel has access to YouTube multi-language audio, provide English and Hindi audio tracks viewers can select. This is an uploaded-video workflow, not evidence of selectable language tracks on a live broadcast.
Schedule the YouTube Live event in Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live.
- Open Manage, choose Schedule stream, then create a new stream or reuse settings from a previous stream.
- Set the programme title, description, visibility, audience setting, and date and time. Check the time zone and the scheduled time with the newsroom team before publishing the event.
- Save the stream. YouTube creates an upcoming watch page; share its URL with viewers so they can visit it and set a reminder.
- When it is time to broadcast, connect your encoder using the YouTube server URL and stream key. Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- Check picture and sound in the preview, then select Go live in YouTube. At the end, stop the live stream in YouTube and stop the encoder as well. YouTube’s setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Encoder setup and stream guidance
Play a prerecorded news video as a live broadcast
For a scheduled playout, select an encoder or third-party service whose current documentation expressly supports scheduling prerecorded media to YouTube Live. The fact that YouTube’s help page mentions a vendor feature does not mean Studio or every encoder can do it. Confirm the service can handle your file, scheduled start, YouTube ingest, audio tracks, and the workflow for stopping or recovering the broadcast.
- In the chosen service, create a scheduled prerecorded broadcast and select the news programme file or playlist.
- Connect the service to the correct YouTube channel using its YouTube authorization flow or the server URL and stream key it requests. Treat the stream key as a password; do not publish it or send it in a public newsroom chat.
- Check the scheduled event’s title, description, privacy, audience setting, and start time in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the service is targeting the intended event and channel.
- Before the public slot, test the same or a comparable file privately or unlisted if your workflow permits. Confirm that the preview shows the expected image and sound and that the stream health is acceptable.
- At transmission time, monitor the Live Control Room and the service. Check that playback begins at the intended point, audio is present, and the event remains live. Follow the provider’s documented procedure to end playback and stop the YouTube stream.
Keep the source file and any separately recorded dub cleared for broadcast. A live presentation does not remove copyright obligations, and a right to publish a programme in one language does not automatically establish rights for another audio track.

Offer English and Hindi without confusing audio and captions
Two separate scheduled broadcasts
To make both languages available as live broadcasts, schedule an English event and a Hindi event separately, each with its own title, description, language-appropriate audio, and watch-page link. This is operationally straightforward for viewers but requires two event setups and clear promotion so the audience chooses the correct stream. The cited YouTube documentation does not establish that one live broadcast can provide selectable English and Hindi audio tracks.
One uploaded video with selectable audio
YouTube’s multi-language audio feature is documented for uploaded videos and Shorts. Eligible creators provide the additional dubbed track themselves or arrange for it to be produced. The feature requires access to Advanced features; check the channel’s current eligibility and Studio controls before planning a release. YouTube says creators who uploaded multi-language audio tracks saw over 25% of watch time come from views in a video’s non-primary language; YouTube does not state a year on that help page, and the figure is not a forecast for an individual channel. Captions are not a second audio track
Automatic captions may be available for uploaded videos in English and Hindi, but captions display text; they do not dub a programme. YouTube’s current help documentation describes automatic live captions as English-only, available to eligible channels on normal latency. Captioning can fail with poor audio or multiple speakers or languages overlapping. Live captions are not carried over as-is into the replay; YouTube may generate captions for the archived video separately. Provide a separate live caption feed if needed
If viewers need captions during the broadcast, YouTube supports captions embedded in the video or captioning software that sends captions to YouTube. Its documented live workflow supports one caption track. A bilingual newsroom should therefore not assume automatic live captions will supply both English and Hindi simultaneously; choose and test a supported caption workflow for the language you need. Newsroom checks before the scheduled slot
- Verify event details: Check the date, time zone, title, description, visibility, and audience setting in the scheduled event.
- Check rights: Confirm permission for the programme, music, clips, graphics, and each dubbed audio track. Check YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies; a scheduled or prerecorded format does not guarantee that content is permitted.
- Test technical output: Preview comparable movement and audio, inspect the incoming picture and sound in Live Control Room, and check the watch page on a phone as well as a desktop.
- Monitor the broadcast: Assign someone to watch stream health, listen for missing or mismatched audio, and respond if the encoder or incoming feed stops.
- Prepare language versions carefully: Have a fluent reviewer check Hindi and English narration, names, captions, and any on-screen text before the public slot.
YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but such hardware is an optional production choice, not a requirement for scheduling a stream. YouTube live streaming guidance
Common problems and practical fixes
- The scheduled page exists, but the video does not start: Scheduling the event does not schedule prerecorded playback in Studio. Check that the selected encoder or service explicitly supports scheduled file playback and that its schedule targets the correct YouTube event.
- No preview appears in Live Control Room: Confirm the encoder is running and using the correct channel, server URL, and stream key. Check the provider’s connection status before starting the public event.
- Viewers hear only one language: A standard live broadcast does not automatically become bilingual. Use a second scheduled broadcast for the other language, or publish an uploaded video with additional audio tracks if your channel has access to that feature.
- Hindi captions are missing from the live event: Do not rely on automatic live captions for Hindi. Arrange a supported caption feed and test it, or provide reviewed captions on the archived upload where available.
- Automatic captions contain errors: Improve the source audio where possible, avoid overlapping speech, and review captions manually, especially proper nouns and news facts.
- The replay lacks the live captions: YouTube says live captions do not remain on the replay as-is. Check whether new captions are generated for the archive and review them before viewers rely on them.
- The stream ends unexpectedly: Check the encoder or service connection and YouTube Live Control Room. For scheduled prerecorded playout, verify with the provider whether it supports recovery and how to restart without creating a confusing duplicate broadcast.
