To run recorded classes continuously on YouTube Live, use OBS on a computer: loop one recording with a Media Source, or arrange several local recordings in an OBS VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream with the server URL and stream key. For an Indian educator, this is a do-it-yourself setup—not a feature that turns a YouTube playlist into a live broadcast automatically—and the computer, power and internet connection must remain available.
Choose the setup: OBS locally or a cloud service
OBS is a good fit if you can keep a computer running and want direct control over the order of your lesson files. A cloud-hosted service is an alternative if you do not want a streaming computer running at home. For any cloud provider, check YouTube support, playlist and file limits, availability in India, recovery behavior, privacy and retention terms, and pricing before relying on it for teaching.

YouTube Live does not provide a native feature in the cited guidance for looping a playlist of already hosted YouTube videos into a live broadcast. The OBS method below streams local media files through an encoder.

- Your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. YouTube also says the streamer must be at least 16. These are platform requirements; the cited guidance does not identify a separate India-specific exception. YouTube live-stream setup
- Enable live streaming well before your planned broadcast. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Collect the lesson recordings on the computer that will run OBS. Confirm the files play correctly and that you have permission to rebroadcast the lessons and all included slides, images, music and other third-party material.
Set up the loop in OBS
Loop one recorded class
- Open OBS and add a Media Source to the scene you will use for the broadcast.
- Select the local lesson file in the source properties.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the video and its audio play as expected. OBS documents this control for a single media source. OBS Media Sources
Loop several classes in a chosen order
- Install VLC on the computer if it is not already installed. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC; if OBS is 64-bit, OBS says VLC must also be 64-bit.
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and add the local video files in the sequence you want viewers to see them.
- Enable Loop Playlist in the source properties, then preview the playlist to check order, transitions and audio before going live.
These are local recordings read by OBS, not a YouTube-hosted playlist URL. Keep the files accessible to the computer and avoid moving or renaming them while the broadcast is running.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and create or schedule an encoder stream. Scheduling ahead gives you an upcoming watch page and lets viewers set reminders. YouTube encoder setup
- In YouTube Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the server URL and stream key. Keep the stream key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your event.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, then confirm the event is accessible from the channel and watch page.
- When you want the broadcast to end, stop the encoder. YouTube says starting the encoder creates a watch page and stopping it ends the stream.
Set video quality, bitrate and network headroom
Use an output resolution and frame rate that suit the source recording and the computer’s encoding capacity; upscaling a low-resolution lesson does not add detail. Set OBS’s output to a stable quality your upload connection can sustain, and check the preview and stream-health indicators before leaving the broadcast unattended. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish one bitrate or keyframe interval for every recording, resolution and encoder configuration, so do not treat a single number as universal.
YouTube recommends keeping upload bandwidth at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. That headroom helps accommodate variation in the connection; it does not guarantee that a home network will stay up. Test the actual OBS scene, audio and network together before scheduling a long run. YouTube streaming tips

Plan for a genuinely continuous broadcast
A local 24/7 setup depends on the computer, OBS, lesson files, power and internet connection staying available. A network disruption can break the stream, and OBS loop controls do not amount to a service-uptime guarantee. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before a scheduled event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand; monitor audio and video during setup. YouTube live-stream setup
Archive expectations
YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not guarantee that one continuous 24-hour stream will produce a complete replay. If preserving every lesson matters, make a separate local recording or plan shorter sessions and verify current archive behavior in Live Control Room. YouTube encoder setup

Troubleshoot common OBS and YouTube Live problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is your first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The VLC source is missing or will not load: install VLC and match its architecture to OBS; a 64-bit OBS installation needs 64-bit VLC.
- The playlist stops or plays the wrong file: confirm the local files are still accessible, check their order in the VLC Video source and make sure Loop Playlist is enabled.
- YouTube does not receive video: check that OBS has the correct server URL and stream key for the selected event, then inspect the Live Control Room preview.
- The stream buffers or disconnects: check stream health and upload capacity, reduce output demands if necessary, and preserve the recommended 20% upload headroom above total bitrate. A network interruption may still break a local stream.
- The replay is incomplete or missing: do not assume a continuous 24-hour broadcast will archive in full. YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; use separate recording or shorter sessions if a full replay is important.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. For Indian creators, UPI and cards are accepted in India.
