Yes, Incogni is a legitimate paid data-removal service, and independent research found it can help remove or locate the absence of personal records on broker sites. In a 2025 study of current U.S. residents, Incogni averaged 76.6% of participants’ records classified as “removed or not found” after 30 days—the highest result among four services tested. That is evidence of useful automation, not a promise that Incogni will find or permanently erase every record about you.
What Incogni does—and what it cannot do
Incogni asks customers for identifying information and authorization to act on their behalf. It then sends opt-out or deletion requests to data brokers and people-search sites and shows request progress in a dashboard and privacy reports. Incogni describes recurring requests during an annual subscription. Its service is aimed at broker-held information; it is not a service that deletes your information from every website or from the internet as a whole. See Incogni’s service description.
Matching depends on the information Incogni has. The company says customers provide a name, email address, and home address, and can add current or past addresses and phone numbers to improve matching. An online authorization form lets Incogni make removal demands for them. That means the service handles a tedious process, but it also requires you to share personal details with the company.
Does Incogni actually work?
The strongest independent result in the available evidence comes from He et al., whose 2025 study, Measuring the Accuracy and Effectiveness of PII Removal Services, evaluated four services after 30 days. Of 80 people recruited, 71 provided valid study data overall; the participants were current U.S. residents, with 20 recruited for each service. For Incogni, researchers classified an average of 76.6% of records per participant as “removed / not found.” The average across the four services was 48.2%. Incogni had the highest result in that experiment. Read the 2025 study.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Those figures need careful interpretation. “Removed / not found” combines two outcomes: a record was removed, or the participant’s personally identifiable information was not found. It is not the same as verifying that every piece of data was deleted. The researchers also tracked requests still in progress and failed requests; “in progress” meant a request had been submitted but the broker had not responded, while “failed” included an inability to send a request or a long non-response. A dashboard status and confirmed disappearance are therefore not interchangeable.
The study was relatively small, limited to U.S. residents, and measured results at one point—30 days. Brokers available to each service differed, and the paper notes that outcomes can vary between users. Its 76.6% result is a study average, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual customer.
How long does Incogni take?
There is no single completion time. Incogni says broker response times range from hours to weeks, and some requests on monthly plans can take more than 30 days. A month of service may therefore end before all requests have been resolved. Annual subscriptions are designed for ongoing monitoring and resubmission rather than a one-time sweep.

Incogni says it scans public people-search sites for matches. Private broker databases cannot be scanned in the same way; for those, it says it uses signals such as region to identify brokers that may hold data, then periodically sends opt-out requests. This distinction helps explain why a request may be sent without a confirmed match or immediate removal. See the official pricing and service FAQ.

Is Incogni safe to use?
Using the service means giving Incogni personal details and authorization so it can submit requests in your name. PCWorld reported that Deloitte conducted a third-party audit in August 2025, and that Incogni says it shares personal data with brokers to process removal requests and retains customer data for up to 12 months after cancellation. Those are secondary-source descriptions; they do not establish the contents of the audit or independently verify Incogni’s current privacy-policy wording. Review the company’s current privacy terms before signing up.
Any data-removal service faces a practical trade-off: it needs enough identifying information to match records and send requests, while customers need to be comfortable with how the service handles that information. Consider the information requested and retention terms alongside the removal features, not just the number of sites advertised.
Who is Incogni worth it for?
Incogni is most useful if you want recurring, automated requests handled across broker and people-search sites and are willing to pay for convenience. Its independent study result is promising, but the study cannot establish what a particular person will see. The service is a poorer fit if you expect comprehensive removal from the open web, need certainty that every record is gone, or prefer to contact brokers yourself.

Before choosing a plan—or comparing Incogni with another service—check the practical differences that affect your situation:
- Whether the advertised coverage means distinct sites, brokers, or actual records found and removed.
- Whether requests are automated or include human assistance, and whether monitoring and resubmission continue.
- Whether custom removals are included and how many household members are covered.
- What identifying information is required and how long customer data is retained.
- The first-year charge versus renewal price, plus regional availability.
- Whether performance claims come from independent outcome evidence and what the study actually measured.
A 2025 study compared Incogni with Optery, Kanary, and Mozilla Monitor and found differing coverage and outcomes; it does not establish one universally best service. Choose based on the features and evidence that matter to you, rather than treating a single study ranking as a guarantee.

No. Its results depend on record matching and broker responses; the independent 2025 study measured a combined removed-or-not-found outcome, not guaranteed permanent deletion.
Does Incogni remove information from the whole internet?
No. Its service targets data brokers and people-search sites, not every website or online copy of your information.
