Incogni or DeleteMe? How to Choose a Data Removal Service in 2026

Choose Incogni if you want recurring automated opt-out requests and, on eligible plans, custom removals for sites outside its standard coverage. Choose DeleteMe if you prefer an operator-assisted process and reports that show where information was found and what work is underway. Neither is a universal winner: their published site counts are not directly comparable, and a current DeleteMe price could not be confirmed from its published plan information. Before subscribing, check the specific sites you care about, household coverage, region, and total renewal cost.

What Incogni and DeleteMe actually do

Both services use identifying information you provide to locate records at data brokers and people-search sites, then submit requests intended to remove those records. They can reduce exposure at sources they cover; they do not erase your information from the entire internet, prevent new records from being created, or guarantee that a listing will never return.

Search-engine results are a separate issue from source listings. DeleteMe explains that removing information from a source site is distinct from deleting a search engine’s own copy of a result. If you are asking whether DeleteMe removes data from Google, the relevant distinction is that its process targets source sites, not necessarily every copy or result maintained elsewhere. DeleteMe’s service overview describes this distinction.

How the removal process differs

Incogni: recurring automated requests

Incogni says it contacts data brokers on a subscriber’s behalf, using authorization, and lets subscribers track request progress in a dashboard. Its plan information describes recurring automated removals from 420+ sites. Unlimited, Family Unlimited, and Protect plans add custom removal requests for URLs outside the standard automated service; the pricing page describes custom coverage for 3,000+ additional sites. These are vendor-stated coverage figures, not guarantees that every record will be found or removed. Incogni’s plan page and help-center explanation describe its process.

DeleteMe: operator-submitted opt-outs and reports

DeleteMe asks subscribers to complete a personal data sheet with details such as current and past addresses, date of birth, and alternate names. Its operators submit opt-outs and monitor broker sites. Subscribers can also send links through the dashboard for custom removal requests; check the exact plan’s terms for applicable limits. DeleteMe’s overview explains its workflow.

Coverage counts are not an apples-to-apples comparison

Incogni’s current plan materials state 420+ standard sites, with 3,000+ additional sites described for eligible custom-removal plans. DeleteMe’s official materials give two different figures: its pricing help article says 50+ data-broker and people-search sites, while its service overview says 85+ major data broker sites. The pricing figure is from an article updated August 14, 2025; the overview with the larger figure was also updated August 14, 2025. The available descriptions do not establish that these counts cover the same kinds of sites or use the same definitions.

Rather than choosing by the largest number, check whether each service covers the broker or listing that concerns you and whether you can submit an uncovered URL as a custom request. Incogni’s plan page, DeleteMe’s pricing help article, and DeleteMe’s overview show the differing vendor descriptions.

Reports and how long removal takes

DeleteMe says it provides a first Privacy Report within seven business days, then reports every three months on its standard schedule. Its report documentation distinguishes between an exposure reviewed, an exposure removed, and a site where information was found. The first report is a status update, not proof that all listings have already been removed. DeleteMe says broker response times range from immediate to weeks.

Incogni describes monthly progress reports, and it cautions that response times depend on the broker. In either service, a report can show that work is in progress rather than completed removal. DeleteMe’s report explanation, its plan information, and Incogni’s plan page describe reporting schedules and status.

Which service fits your priorities?

  • Pick Incogni if its current covered list matches your exposure and you want recurring automated requests. Consider an eligible custom-removal plan if you need requests for sites outside its standard set.
  • Pick DeleteMe if you value operator-submitted opt-outs and reports that explain findings and removal status, or if its listed household plan matches the number of people you want covered.
  • Pause before choosing either if you have not checked the specific sites, custom-request terms, regional availability, and total renewal cost. Site-count claims do not establish which service will remove more of your particular information.

What to verify before subscribing

  1. Make a short list of the listings that matter. Compare those broker sites against each service’s current coverage information rather than relying on headline totals.
  2. Check custom-request access. Confirm that the plan lets you submit the URLs you need and review any limits that apply.
  3. Confirm who is covered and where. Match the plan to your household size and country; availability differs by plan.
  4. Compare the full cost. Check annual amount due now, renewal price, taxes, and the number of people included. For DeleteMe, confirm the actual checkout amount because the cited help text does not state a price.
  5. Review personal-data handling. Both services need identifying details to find records and submit requests. Read their current privacy policies and decide whether you are comfortable supplying the information needed for the service.

Incogni reported that it processed more than 245 million removal requests between January 2022 and July 18, 2025, as described in a Deloitte ISAE 3000 report dated August 6, 2025. That figure counts requests, not unique customers or successful removals, and does not provide a controlled head-to-head efficacy comparison. The available evidence therefore does not establish a comparative privacy-security or removal-success winner.
