IKEA and Xbox’s YXSTABY collection is a nine-piece range of gaming furniture and accessories designed for homes where play shares space with everyday life. It includes mobile stands and tables, compact storage, seating, and controller-inspired decor—not just a conventional desk setup. Xbox said the worldwide launch began October 1, 2026, but availability and online timing vary by market, so check your local IKEA listing.
What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a collaboration between IKEA and Xbox, announced by IKEA on August 26, 2026. The companies describe it as furniture for players in shared, multipurpose rooms: pieces intended to support gaming while still fitting into a living room or other everyday space. IKEA says a designer from each team worked on every piece.
The collection uses familiar Xbox controller forms, including the D-pad and thumbstick, alongside muted white, black, and beige tones. Green accents draw attention to pockets, slings, and compartments. The emphasis is on adaptable furniture and recognizable details, rather than turning every room into a dedicated gaming station.
IKEA’s announcement describes gaming as part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people. That figure is IKEA’s statement; the announcement does not identify its underlying dataset or methodology.

For a shared dining or work surface
The laptop support/toolbox is intended to keep controllers, cables, and hardware together when they are not in use. Its lid becomes a laptop stand, making it possible to use a table for play and then clear away the gaming kit. That supports reclaiming a shared surface, though it does not establish how quickly any particular setup can be packed away.
For a fixed monitor setup
The monitor stand raises one or two screens and provides storage beneath them, with holders for a phone, headphones, and controller. It is the collection’s clearest fit for a stationary monitor area. IKEA’s descriptions do not provide standardized measurements or comparative performance tests, so check the local listing for screen compatibility and dimensions before choosing it.

For seating, collecting, and controller-inspired accents
The lounge chair is described as supporting both leaning back and leaning forward, and includes a controller pocket. The thumbstick stool translates a controller feature into a seat; IKEA designer David Wahl said it tilts with the sitter and has a curved, stable seat. Those are design descriptions, not independent ergonomic test findings. The mirrored display box, D-pad cushion, and platter lean more toward collecting, decoration, or serving than equipment support.

YXSTABY’s stated purpose is to make gaming equipment and play fit more naturally into everyday rooms. Philip Dilé, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden, said: “Together, we set out to make furniture people really want in their home, not furniture they accept because it is what you need to game.” Xbox’s Head of Design, Carl Ledbetter, described the controller-inspired approach this way: “By translating elements like the D-pad and thumbstick into functional furniture, we created pieces that celebrate Xbox design while feeling completely at home in everyday living spaces.”
