IFS Launches IFS Intelligence, Governed by Its New Industrial AI Harness

IFS announced IFS Intelligence on October 13, 2026, describing it as enterprise software that lets employees ask questions about operational data in plain language, investigate issues, and prepare actions for approval. Its Industrial AI Harness is the operational-control layer IFS says provides permissions, verification, escalation, and auditability. The announcement establishes what IFS says the product does—not independently verified performance or security results.

What IFS Intelligence is

IFS introduced IFS Intelligence at its IFS Unleashed event in Orlando. It is an enterprise software offering, not a standalone device. IFS says it draws on live data from IFS and third-party systems, including information about operational assets, work orders, schedules, processes, and history. The aim is to let people ask questions, see the sources behind answers, plan what should happen next, and act within company rules and approvals. IFS announcement via Cision

The practical distinction is that the announced product is intended to connect analysis to operational workflows: an employee can ask about a situation, review the information used, and prepare an action rather than stopping at a generated answer. IFS has not published independent performance findings in the launch materials.

How the product is organized

Cowork: conversational analysis and action preparation

Cowork is the conversational interface IFS describes for asking about operational data, investigating problems, and preparing actions for a person to approve. IFS says an answer can be turned into a live-updating Lens, and successful work can be saved as a reusable Skill. It also says Cowork can connect to systems such as Microsoft 365 through MCP. The announcement does not specify the full set of supported connectors or technical prerequisites.

Loops: background workflows

Loops are defined workflows that IFS calls digital workers. According to IFS, they can run in the background and escalate when human judgment or approval is needed. Teams can build Loops in Studio, the company says. The launch materials do not quantify how much work a Loop can complete autonomously or list supported workflow types.

Runway: assistance for IFS changes

Runway is plain-language assistance intended to speed migration, configuration, and extension of IFS. The announcement does not provide implementation benchmarks or specify which IFS products and versions are eligible.

What the Industrial AI Harness is meant to govern

IFS presents the Industrial AI Harness as the operational foundation for IFS Intelligence. Its announcement describes a set of capabilities intended to coordinate AI work and keep it within organizational controls:

  • Planning and orchestration: coordinating work across tasks and systems.
  • Skills and connectors: reusable capabilities and connections to data or services.
  • Memory and context: retaining relevant information for the work being performed.
  • Guardrails and permissions: applying organizational rules and access controls.
  • Verification and escalation: checking work and routing cases for human judgment or approval.
  • Observability and auditability: making activity visible and reviewable.

IFS says the harness inherits permissions from connected systems, so users can access only information and actions they are authorized to use. IFS also claims raw data is not sent to external AI providers and that the architecture can work across models and services. Those are vendor statements; the launch release does not include an independent security assessment, technical test results, or an independent security certification. IFS’s production-planning example

IFS illustrates the product with a manager asking about a large order due the following quarter. In the company’s example, IFS Intelligence connects inventory, production capacity, supplier commitments, logistics constraints, and delay costs to identify risk and recommend an action for approval. This demonstrates the type of cross-system question IFS wants the product to handle; it is an illustrative vendor scenario, not a reported or quantified customer result.

What the launch remarks do—and do not—show

Curtis Taylor, chief business operations officer at Sims Crane & Equipment, said that seeing IFS Intelligence changed his approach to making operational data accessible. He described asking questions about the fleet, including which cranes would best meet a customer requirement while maximizing fleet efficiency. This is an attributed customer comment in the launch announcement, not an independently documented outcome measurement.

IFS CEO Mark Moffat said industrial organizations often operate at “around 60% of their potential,” with the remaining potential residing in expertise and data spread across systems. Treat that figure as Moffat’s attributed executive estimate from the 2026 launch release, not as an independently published industry statistic: the official releases provide no supporting study establishing it.

Toby Rees, IFS global head of AI trust, described trust, governance, accountability, and operational discipline as requirements for scaling AI in industrial settings. His remarks explain IFS’s positioning for the harness; they are not a third-party security validation.

Availability, licensing, and undisclosed terms

IFS says IFS Intelligence is available now. The company describes a universal enterprise-wide license covering the in-scope IFS software each customer has licensed, with no feature gating or tiers, plus an AI Executions entitlement subject to a fair-usage cap.

  • Price: not stated in the launch release.
  • AI Executions cap: a fair-usage cap is mentioned, but its numeric limit is not stated.
  • Eligibility and deployment details: not specified in the releases.

Organizations considering the product will need to confirm applicable IFS products, deployment eligibility, implementation requirements, the practical execution allowance, and total commercial terms directly with IFS. The announcement alone does not establish these details.

What enterprise buyers should verify

The launch materials describe intended capabilities, but leave key procurement questions open. A meaningful evaluation should test the actual systems and workflows in scope rather than rely on broad capability descriptions.

  • Which IFS and third-party systems can be connected in the buyer’s environment, and what data is available from each?
  • How are identity, permissions, approvals, and access changes inherited and enforced across those systems?
  • Which actions require human approval, and how are exceptions escalated?
  • What model and service choices are supported, and what data-processing arrangements apply to each?
  • What activity can administrators observe and audit, and how long are records retained?
  • Which products, editions, and deployment configurations qualify, and how much implementation work is required?
  • What does the license include in practice, and how is the AI Executions fair-usage limit measured?
