In a statement on X reported on October 2, 2026, Zilis described the split as sudden from her perspective: “It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes.” Hindustan Times and The Independent reproduced the statement; both characterize it as her account of the breakup, not a jointly explained decision.

Zilis also wrote that she had valued being “a counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love” for Musk and said, “I will miss him dearly.” Those remarks convey her feelings and recollection; they do not explain the reason for the separation.

Hindustan Times and The Independent reported that Zilis shared screenshots of messages dated September 24. The Independent said she texted, “It was really wonderful to see you for breakfast. Love you very much,” and Musk replied, “Love you too.” The messages offer context for why the announcement felt abrupt to Zilis, but the outlets’ accounts do not independently authenticate the screenshots or reveal the private circumstances around them.

Hindustan Times also reported that Zilis posted after Musk unfollowed her on X. That sequence is reported context only; it does not establish a cause for the breakup.
Do they have children together?
News reports say Zilis and Musk share four children. Hindustan Times gives this timeline: twins Strider and Azure were born in November 2021, daughter Arcadia in early 2024, and son Seldon Lycurgus in February 2025. These dates and names are reported by the outlet.

Have they agreed to co-parent?
Zilis said, “I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents.” This is her stated hope, not confirmation of a formal or agreed co-parenting arrangement. The cited coverage does not describe any arrangements or terms.
