In the proposed Creature-breeding racing game EvoWild Run, the race itself does not need a live AI model. A prepared set of tactical rules can tell each Creature when to conserve energy, change its path or attack, while the game’s Race Engine determines what happens. AI can still help players draft or improve those rules before a race.
That distinction is the central idea in Sohachi’s design exploration of EvoWild Run: AI-assisted preparation is not the same thing as AI making decisions at runtime. The game is presented as a concept; the article does not establish that its systems have been implemented, playtested or released.

What would the player do after the race starts?
EvoWild Run is framed around raising and breeding Creatures for races. The result of each race is meant to inform what a player raises, breeds and enters next. If players directly control a Creature once a race begins, the emphasis could shift toward action-game reflexes rather than preparation and analysis.
The proposed loop is therefore strategic: breed a Creature, choose which one to enter, set its strategy, watch the race, then examine the result and use what it reveals in the next decision. The player chooses a plan; the Race Engine carries it out.

What is a Race Agent?
The initial concept gives every Creature a Race Agent: a system that observes race conditions and issues tactical commands. It might tell a Creature to conserve energy, move to the outside or attack. The Agent does not determine the race outcome by itself; the Race Engine decides what the Creature actually does and how the race unfolds.
The author’s key distinction is that an Agent does not have to be an AI model running during the race. It can be a set of conditional rules that selects from predefined commands. For example, a hypothetical rule could say: if the remaining distance is 400 metres or less and fatigue is below 70%, issue ATTACK. Those thresholds are illustrative, not tested recommendations.
That is a tactical command system, whether a person wrote the rule or used an AI tool to help draft it. As the author puts it, “The race does not need AI running inside it at all.”

How could players create the same Agent File?
The proposal gives beginners and advanced players different ways to prepare an Agent, while keeping the resulting format and available commands common. Beginner-friendly controls might cover:

- Starting behavior
- Base pace
- Preferred running path
- Response to traffic
- When to use a spurt
The game would translate those choices into a common Agent File. More experienced players could edit that file directly, or ask an AI tool to draft one. In the concept, using AI does not unlock extra commands: the AI-authored and UI-authored versions use the same Agent File and are executed by the same Race Engine.
Where AI could still help
AI remains a possible optional strategy-creation and analysis tool. The proposed workflow is to give an external AI information about a Creature’s abilities, earlier race results, current course conditions and the existing Agent File. The AI could suggest a revised file; a validator would check it before the Race Engine used it.

- Provide relevant Creature abilities, prior race results, course conditions and the current Agent File to an external AI.
- Ask it to suggest a revised Agent File based on that information.
- Run the suggestion through a validator.
- Have the Race Engine execute the validated rules during the race.
Players who do not use AI could create an Agent through the ordinary game controls. The article names ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and local models as examples of possible tools, not as endorsements or verified partners.

Live AI versus a prepared Agent File
The trade-off is not whether players may use AI at all. It is whether an external model must participate while a race is in progress, or whether the player prepares a file first and lets the game execute it. Sohachi lists qualitative design risks for live AI; the article gives no measurements for latency, costs or reliability.

| Consideration | Live AI during the race | Prepared Agent File |
|---|---|---|
| External-service dependency | Could depend on a connection and an outside AI service during the race. | The proposed approach prepares the file before the race and has the Race Engine execute it. |
| Latency and connection failures | The author identifies API latency and connection failures as possible risks; no measured results are given. | Avoids making live AI responses part of the proposed in-race decision loop; no performance measurements are provided. |
| Cost | Could involve API costs, according to the author; no prices or usage estimates are stated. | No per-race AI call is required by the proposed execution model; the article does not quantify any other costs. |
| Model and service-tier differences | Different models and free or paid service tiers could behave differently, the author notes. | Once prepared, the common Agent File is executed by the game; the article does not specify how files would be validated across versions. |
| Competitive fairness | Different tools or service tiers raise a fairness concern in the author’s view; no competition outcomes are tested. | The concept gives players the same command system, whether they create a file in the UI or with AI assistance. |
| Is AI required? | AI would be part of the live race decision process. | No. Players could use ordinary game controls to create an Agent. |
What the concept leaves unresolved
Separating AI-assisted preparation from runtime execution clarifies how the proposed system could work, but it does not answer whether planning would be enjoyable. The article leaves open how to make tactical choices feel engaging rather than like filling in a settings screen. It also offers no playtest evidence that its proposed loop is fun, fair or effective.
