Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

Its product lineup covers much more: teams can use FigJam to plan and map ideas, Slides to present them, Draw to illustrate, and Make or Sites to move toward interactive prototypes or published websites. The useful shift is to choose the Figma tool by the job—not assume every task belongs in a UI mockup.
Figma is a platform, not just a screen-design app
Figma’s product overview separates several tools that serve different kinds of work. Figma Design focuses on digital product and experience design; FigJam is an online whiteboard; Slides is for presentations; Draw supports illustration; Make is for prototypes and web apps; and Sites is for website design and publishing. The overview labels Sites as beta, so check its current status and feature availability before depending on it.

| Tool | Best fit |
|---|---|
| FigJam | Collaborative brainstorming, planning, and diagrams |
| Figma Design | Detailed digital product and experience design |
| Slides | Presenting a story, proposal, or review and gathering input |
| Draw | Illustration within Figma Design |
| Make | Functional prototypes and web apps |
| Sites | Website design and publishing; labeled beta in Figma’s overview |
These are different work modes within Figma, not evidence that one tool replaces every specialist app. The product descriptions come from Figma itself, rather than independent comparative testing.

If the task is to get people thinking together before anyone settles on a design, FigJam is the natural starting point. Figma’s current overview lists meetings, brainstorms, diagrams, planning, and research among its uses. Its 2021 launch post described FigJam as “an online whiteboard for teams to brainstorm and ideate together.”
#1 Best Overall
Plan a meeting or workshop
Use a shared FigJam board to gather prompts, organize discussion, and make group work visible. Figma also documents classroom discussion and group activities as education uses, which points to a broader role for the board beyond product teams.
Map a process or user flow
Shapes and connectors can turn a sequence of steps into a diagram, including a user flow. Figma’s launch material describes this kind of work; because that post dates to 2021, use current FigJam documentation for exact feature details rather than assuming every launch-era capability or label remains unchanged.

Capture planning and team documentation
Figma-authored posts have also shown FigJam used for retrospectives, onboarding documentation, engineering critiques, technical specifications, and product requirements documents. Treat these as examples of how teams have used it, not a promise that a whiteboard is always the right home for formal or durable documentation.

Use Slides when the idea needs a narrative
Some work is easier to understand when it is presented in sequence. Figma Slides is intended for product reviews, sales decks, and pitch decks. A presentation can make the argument or proposal legible to an audience in a way that a sprawling canvas may not.
Rank #3
In its June 26, 2024 announcement, Figma said its users had created about 3.5 million presentations in the preceding year, based on Figma research. That is a historical, company-reported figure—not an independently measured market statistic or a current annual rate.
Draw and Make take the work in different directions
Draw for illustration
Figma describes Draw as an illustration tool within Figma Design, with brushes, transforms, textures, and vector editing. It can suit artwork or visual elements that belong alongside product design, though that description alone does not establish it as a replacement for dedicated illustration software.
Rank #4
Make for interactive concepts
Figma describes Make as a way to create functional prototypes and web apps. That makes it a fit when a static picture is not enough and people need to interact with a concept. In a January 2026 announcement, Figma said Make prototypes could be embedded in FigJam, Figma Design, and Slides, so a team can discuss or present an interactive reference within those spaces.

Sites is for websites, with a beta caveat
Figma Sites is described as a tool for website design and publishing. It extends the work beyond designing screens for a digital product toward making a website available online. Figma’s overview labels Sites beta; since availability and capabilities can change, verify the current product status before choosing it for a live project.

Figma also has documented classroom uses
Figma’s education materials describe FigJam for collaborative discussion and group work, and Figma for making graphics, presentations, and prototypes. The education page describes free access for verified teachers and students; eligibility and terms should be checked on the current page.
A September 2026 Figma education article gives examples of students building apps, prototypes, and interactive experiences through design, testing, and iteration. That is a company-published illustration of classroom activity, not independent evidence that using the tools improves learning outcomes.
Choose a first task by what you need to make
- Need a group to think, plan, or map a process? Start with FigJam.
- Need a polished digital product or experience design? Use Figma Design.
- Need to explain an idea in a sequence? Try Slides.
- Need illustration? Look at Draw.
- Need an interactive prototype or web app? Explore Make.
- Need to design and publish a website? Check Sites and confirm its current beta status and availability.
For a low-stakes first experiment, make a process map in FigJam or prepare a short presentation in Slides. Those tasks make the distinction clear: Figma can support work around interface design, but the right tool depends on whether you are trying to think together, explain, illustrate, prototype, or publish.
