GamesRadar+ hardware editor Duncan Robertson reports that he played Big Walk on Steam Frame while away from his gaming PC, using a Bluetooth controller and the headset’s built-in view as a large virtual screen. In his single evening session, the game ran well on low settings, but he needed to plug in after about an hour. His “Steam Deck on my face” comparison describes the convenience of playing Steam games on a headset—not equivalent hardware or a guarantee that every PC game will work the same way.
Can you play Big Walk on Steam Frame away from your PC?
In a hands-on report published October 2, 2026, GamesRadar+ hardware editor Duncan Robertson says he connected Steam Frame to Wi-Fi, paired a controller over Bluetooth and started playing Big Walk around 9 p.m. He was away from home and did not have access to his gaming PC. He and two friends finished around 12:30 a.m.

Robertson says Big Walk ran “flawlessly on low settings” during that session. He also reports that the controller worked without issues or noticeable latency, though he adjusted the headset’s fit a couple of times. These are observations from one play session, not a repeatable performance test or a compatibility guarantee. Read Robertson’s GamesRadar+ account.
The practical catch was power: Robertson says he had to plug in after about an hour because of battery drain. That is not a measured battery-life figure, and it should not be treated as a runtime estimate for other games, settings or users.

Why Big Walk suited a headset session
Big Walk is a cooperative adventure built around exploration, puzzles, teamwork and talking. Its Steam listing describes online co-op for 2–12 players, cross-platform multiplayer and proximity voice chat: players’ voices become more or less audible depending on distance and whether walls are between them. That design helped make the remote session practical, according to Robertson, who says he had not yet managed to get Discord running on Steam Frame at the time.
That Discord experience is a time-specific detail from his report, not proof that Discord is permanently unavailable on the headset. The game’s own voice chat was enough for this particular group to coordinate and talk while playing.

Steam’s Big Walk listing names House House as developer and Panic as publisher, and gives August 4, 2026 as the release date. Its US listing showed $19.99 when accessed for this article; price and availability can change.

Robertson’s “Steam Deck on my face” line is a useful shorthand for the experience he describes: access to Steam games on a headset when he was away from his usual PC setup. It is not a technical comparison. His account does not establish that Steam Frame and Steam Deck share capabilities, performance, controls or battery life.

He also describes using the headset as a virtual large-screen display for non-VR games, comparing the idea to PSVR 2’s cinematic mode. He says less demanding games he tried, including Towerfall Ascension and Hades, ran well. His expectation that demanding AAA games might struggle is speculation, not a verified benchmark.

Steam lists Windows and macOS requirements for Big Walk. For Windows, the minimum listing specifies Windows 10, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 750 Ti, Radeon R7 370 or Intel Arc A380-class GPU. The recommended listing specifies Windows 11, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1070, Radeon RX 5600 XT or Intel Arc A750-class GPU.
