The Pixel 11 Pro has plenty to like, but Google should address three weaknesses in its successor: gaming smoothness, battery capacity and wired charging. Those are recommendations—not confirmed Pixel 12 Pro features. The reviewed sources establish no Pixel 12 Pro specifications, release date or promised fixes.
1. Make gaming smoother and improve graphics compatibility
Android Authority’s Joe Maring reports microstutters and performance problems in popular games on the Pixel 11 Pro. He links the issue to the GPU’s lack of native OpenGL ES support and says games instead pass through ANGLE for translation into Vulkan. That is Maring’s explanation; the reviewed sources do not establish Google’s confirmation of the cause.

Android Central separately reports that the Pixel 11 GPU does not support the latest Vulkan API, which may mean games that rely on newer Vulkan features have worse visuals. These are related but distinct observations: one describes a reported compatibility route and stuttering, while the other focuses on Vulkan support and potential visual compromises.

Google describes Tensor G6 as its fastest, most powerful chip yet and advertises performance improvements, but that does not by itself establish how demanding games behave in extended play.

2. Increase battery capacity without confusing capacity with endurance
Android Authority gives the Pixel 11 Pro’s battery capacity as 4,850mAh. Maring says it can last through a busy day for him, but argues that Google should aim higher in the next Pro model and suggests silicon-carbon battery technology as one possible route to multi-day endurance. His proposed capacity of 6,000mAh or more is a recommendation, not a confirmed Pixel 12 Pro specification.
Capacity is only one part of battery life: screen use, software, radios and workload also matter. Independent results underline why comparisons need a named test method. Android Central describes battery life as near-identical between equivalent Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro models in its testing. In Tom’s Guide’s test, the Pixel 11 Pro lasted 13 hours 25 minutes, while its Pixel 10 Pro test lasted 13 hours 43 minutes. Those are each outlet’s results, not a universal runtime or a directly controlled comparison between publications.

Google’s own rapid-charge battery claim applies to a different model: the company says the Pixel 11 Pro XL can gain up to 15 hours of battery life in 15 minutes. That manufacturer estimate should not be applied to the smaller Pixel 11 Pro or treated as equivalent to a reviewer’s battery test.
3. Improve wired charging and make peak speeds easier to reach
Android Authority reports maximum wired charging rates of 30W for the Pixel 11 Pro and 45W for the Pro XL. It also says the XL’s maximum requires support for a particular 21V PPS standard, making charger compatibility part of the practical experience. A compatible charger can help the phone reach its designed rate; it cannot raise that rate beyond the phone’s own limit.

Android Central’s charging comparison shows why the headline wattage is not the whole story. Its test recorded these battery percentages after the same elapsed times:
| Model | After 15 minutes | After 30 minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10 Pro | 27% | 55% |
| Pixel 11 Pro | 27% | 51% |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | 33% | 63% |
| Pixel 11 Pro XL | 27% | 54% |
These figures are Android Central’s review measurements, not guaranteed results for every charger, temperature or starting charge. In that comparison, neither Pixel 11 Pro model led its Pixel 10 counterpart at either checkpoint.

Maring recommends that the Pixel 12 Pro at least match Samsung’s 60W charging. That is his proposed target, not an established technical requirement. Whatever peak rate Google chooses, the useful improvements would be faster real-world charge gained over a fixed interval and broader support for chargers that can deliver the phone’s full designed speed.
What the Pixel 11 Pro gets right—and what remains unknown
The case for improvements does not erase the phone’s strengths. Tom’s Guide measured 2,860 nits peak brightness on the Pixel 11 Pro display and 2,877 nits on the Pro XL in its testing. Google separately advertises up to 3,600 nits for the Pro displays; that is a manufacturer claim using a different methodology, so the figures should not be treated as like-for-like measurements.

Google’s August 12, 2026 announcement says Pixel 11 Pro models start at 256GB and that the Pixel 11 family receives seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. Those are confirmed Pixel 11 details, not evidence of what the Pixel 12 Pro will offer. As of the reviewed sources, Google has not confirmed the Pixel 12 Pro’s specifications, launch timing or any fixes discussed here.
