Riot frames the official video around Faker and T1’s historic run; that is a compelling tournament story, but it is a different promise from a return that puts the group and its performers front and center.
What “Know My Name” is—and what it is meant to do
Riot announced “Know My Name” as the 2026 League of Legends World Championship anthem, performed by True Damage. Riot calls it the 13th Worlds anthem and the first anthem performed by one of its virtual artists. The song and official video were scheduled for October 8, 2026, at 6 p.m. PDT; Riot’s newsroom lists the video on October 9 UTC. Riot’s announcement and its newsroom listing establish the tournament role and release timing.

Riot’s stated video premise is explicitly about the competition’s central figure: “This year’s anthem and official Worlds Music Video will celebrate the most iconic pro in LoL Esports history: Faker.” Riot Games / LoL Esports made that statement in its September 29, 2026 announcement. The video follows Faker’s journey and T1’s historic three consecutive Worlds titles, including setbacks and comeback moments. Riot’s announcement describes that framing.
Why it can feel short of a True Damage return
The distinction is not that the song must be bad for the group to feel underrepresented. A Worlds anthem has a job: evoke the tournament, its scale and its defining story. A standalone True Damage comeback has another possible job: reintroduce the act, its sound and its collaborators as the main event. The official video’s Faker-and-T1 focus serves the first expectation. Wanting more space for the group is a reasonable response to the second, not a claim that Riot intended to diminish it.

That expectation is sharpened by the release’s history. Riot Games Japan calls “Know My Name” True Damage’s first release since “GIANTS,” released in 2019. Its 2026 press release reports that “GIANTS” had more than 230 million streams across platforms. That is Riot’s reported figure for the older track, not a performance figure for “Know My Name.” Riot Games Japan’s press release supplies the context.
In a release-day Reddit discussion, one listener wrote, “I wish it was more hype.” Other commenters described the song as fine for True Damage while questioning its fit as a Worlds anthem; some objected more to the Faker-centered video than to the song itself. Those are individual reactions, not evidence of a broad fan consensus, but they illustrate the split: liking the track and wanting a distinct group comeback can coexist. The discussion is a snapshot of that reaction, not a survey.

Who True Damage represents
True Damage is a virtual act presented through five League champions: Akali, Ekko, Qiyana, Senna and Yasuo. Riot names SOYEON, Coco Jones, Vic Mensa and Sofía Reyes as collaborating artists. Keeping those layers distinct helps explain what a group-focused return might mean: the champion personas are the act’s fictional presentation, while the named performers are the real-world collaborators. Riot’s announcement identifies both.
What comes next for the group
Riot says True Damage will perform at the Worlds 2026 Final Opening Ceremony on November 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. That live appearance could offer a different setting from the music video’s Faker-and-T1 narrative, though Riot’s announcement does not establish what the performance will include beyond the group’s appearance. The event announcement gives the date and venue.
