That is a useful privacy design goal, but the available product description is not an independent audit of the live site, so treat “zero server uploads” as the author’s claim—not a verified guarantee.
What Convertum is designed to do
Isaac Kojo Yankson describes Convertum as a set of small tools for developers and power users, rather than a single-purpose editor. The listed tasks include:

The article names HTML5 Canvas, Web Crypto and WebAssembly as technologies used in the toolkit. Those are author-reported implementation details, not independently verified measurements or a guarantee that every listed operation works identically in every browser.

What “zero server uploads” means—and what it does not prove
The author says Convertum brings processing “100% into the browser memory sandbox.” In practical terms, the stated intent is that the file being worked on is processed on the user’s device instead of being sent to a remote service for that operation. The article does not provide an independent network capture, source audit or security assessment of the deployed site, however. It therefore cannot establish that the live service never transmits file data or other information.

Local processing also does not make a website risk-free. The browser still downloads and runs code provided by the site, and the cited product description does not establish what analytics, telemetry, accounts or payment services—if any—communicate with servers. For a sensitive document, verify the particular deployment rather than relying on the architectural claim alone.
How to check a deployment with a test file
- Open the tool in a browser and open its developer tools’ Network panel.
- Use a non-sensitive sample file and perform the specific conversion or edit you intend to use.
- Inspect network activity during the operation. Look for requests that could carry file contents, while recognizing that encrypted traffic and application behavior can make interpretation nontrivial.
- Do not use a sensitive file until you are comfortable with what the observed behavior and the site’s disclosures establish.
JWT inspection is not signature validation
A JSON Web Token is a compact representation of claims conveyed between parties as a JSON object, as defined in RFC 7519. Decoding a token can make its header and claims readable, which is useful for checking fields such as an expiration timestamp. But decoding alone does not verify the signature, establish that the token is current, or show that its claims should be trusted. Treat an inspector as a way to view token contents, not as proof of authenticity or authorization.

Browser-side processing still has practical limits
PDFs use memory even when they stay local
Browser-based PDF handling is technically feasible: Mozilla’s PDF.js documentation describes opening a PDF from raw binary data represented as a Uint8Array. That is an example of an in-memory workflow, not evidence that Convertum uses PDF.js. The same documentation warns that rendering many high-resolution pages can require substantial memory and recommends rendering visible pages rather than keeping every page canvas at once. A large document can therefore strain a device even if it is never uploaded.

MDN documents SubtleCrypto.digest() as a Web Crypto API method for generating a digest from input data. That makes browser-side hashing a plausible implementation approach, but the API’s existence does not confirm Convertum’s implementation accuracy, performance or behavior for a particular input.

Browser and format compatibility varies
Support depends on the browser, its version and the file format. PDF.js itself notes that feature support can vary by browser and version. The cited product description does not supply a current supported-browser matrix, file-size limits or performance benchmarks, so check the tool with a harmless sample on the device and browser you plan to use.

A browser utility can be convenient when you need several quick developer or file tasks in one place and want to avoid uploading the working file for processing. Convertum’s described range—from inspecting JWT claims to rotating a PDF or removing image metadata—makes that breadth its main appeal. Choose a different workflow when a task requires a verified security boundary, guaranteed offline operation, a known compatibility target or handling that must meet organizational policy; none of those properties is established by the cited product description.
