Waqar Ahmed says he built more than 45 free browser tools on a low-spec laptop that eventually developed a failed display. Now he is asking for help finding a cheap, refurbished, second-hand, or donated working laptop in Pakistan so he can continue.
What happened to the laptop?
In a September 29, 2026 post on DEV Community, Ahmed says the machine he used to build his tools had no GPU, an old hard drive, and took 10–15 minutes to boot. He says its display failed, pausing his work. Those details, like the rest of the account, are Ahmed’s statements rather than independently verified measurements.

What did he build?
Ahmed says his collection includes a browser-based screen recorder with webcam overlay, PDF and image utilities, text tools, and more than 20 calculators and unit converters. The linked UniRecorder site currently describes a recorder with system audio, microphone, and an optional webcam overlay, alongside those other tool categories. The site’s feature, privacy, and performance descriptions are its own claims, not independent test results.
Why is he asking for help?
Ahmed reports that the project has earned $0 so far. He says AdSense rejected it for “Low Value Content” and that Adsterra works, but Pakistan CPM is tiny. These are his reported monetization results, not independently audited revenue figures.
His practical request is advice on finding a cheap, refurbished, or second-hand laptop in Pakistan. He says even an old working machine would be enough, and asks whether readers know someone giving one away. He also encourages readers to share his post or try the tools, which he says are still running.

How can readers evaluate a replacement laptop?
Ahmed has not named a budget, model, minimum specification, or preferred seller, so his post does not establish a specific laptop recommendation. Anyone helping source a machine can assess the available options against the developer’s actual needs and the realities of local support.
- Total cost: Include the asking price and any likely repair or upgrade costs.
- Condition and recourse: Ask what works, what has been repaired, and whether the seller offers a return window or warranty.
- Repairability: Check whether replacement parts and repair services for that model are available locally.
- Workload fit: Confirm the machine can handle the browser tools and development work Ahmed intends to do; his post does not provide a tested minimum configuration.
- Local availability: Verify the seller, condition, and terms in Pakistan before arranging a purchase or donation.
What else does Ahmed plan to do?
Ahmed says he is working on a 3D horror escape game called Wood in Godot 4.2, with a planned 2027 release, and intends to add more tools. The release year is his stated plan, not a confirmed schedule.
