What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Claude can help make sense of Windows 11 information, but an AI-generated warning is not, by itself, proof that your PC has a fault. The details matter: which Claude feature you used, what information it could actually see, what it reported, and whether Windows or another reliable source confirmed it.
I can’t substantiate a specific Claude session, prompt, or set of findings on an author’s PC from the available account. So I won’t invent a first-person diagnosis or claim Claude performed a comprehensive hardware or security scan. Here’s how to understand the claim—and how to verify any issue Claude flags.

What does “Claude looked into my PC” mean?
It depends on the workflow. A conversation in Claude, a screenshot you upload, diagnostic output you paste, and computer use in Claude Desktop give the assistant different information. A response based on a screenshot or pasted text can only speak to what that material shows; it does not establish that Claude inspected the whole computer.

What Claude can tell you—and what counts as a confirmed problem
Claude may interpret information you provide or can access and suggest areas to investigate. Treat that as a lead, not a diagnosis. A useful account of a real session would identify the Claude interface and workflow, the prompt, each issue it raised, and the evidence used to check it. Without those records, it is not possible to say what Claude found on a particular PC or whether it was right.
- Observation: something visible in a screenshot, report, or Windows status screen.
- AI inference: Claude’s explanation of what an observation might mean. It can be mistaken or lack context.
- Confirmed fault: a problem supported by Windows diagnostics, a manufacturer’s utility, or other relevant evidence.
- Fix: a change made after checking the cause, followed by a check that the problem is resolved.
Don’t make consequential changes—such as removing software, changing security settings, or buying replacement parts—solely because Claude suggested them.

How to verify a Windows 11 health concern
Check Device performance & health
Open the Windows Security app and select Device performance & health. Microsoft describes this page as a device-health view: a green check indicates everything is fine, while a yellow mark means something needs attention. Read the specific status and follow-up information rather than treating a color alone as a diagnosis. Details: Microsoft’s Device performance and health guidance.

Microsoft’s PC Health Check app provides current device-health information and can help you take action to improve performance or troubleshoot problems. It is a useful additional check, not a guarantee that every hardware or software fault will be detected. See Microsoft’s PC Health Check instructions.

Match the check to the specific claim
If Claude raises a particular concern, verify it with evidence that addresses that concern. For a Windows warning, inspect the relevant Windows screen or diagnostic report. For a suspected hardware issue, consult the PC maker’s diagnostic tool or support information. If the issue appeared after a Windows update, check Microsoft’s Windows 11, version 24H2 known-issues page for current notices; its contents can change.
Microsoft’s Copilot documentation includes example questions such as “What’s my current CPU usage?” and “How is my battery health?” Those are examples for Copilot on Windows, not a transcript of questions asked to Claude. Microsoft describes Copilot as assisting with troubleshooting while not making changes on the user’s behalf. That is a useful reminder to keep advice separate from action, regardless of which assistant you use. See Microsoft’s Copilot PC-insights guidance.

What to do before changing settings or paying for a repair
- Write down Claude’s exact warning and the evidence it cited. Note whether Claude saw a screenshot, text you pasted, or used Cowork computer use.
- Check the corresponding Windows status or diagnostic result. If the concern is hardware-specific, use the PC maker’s guidance or a qualified repair professional.
- Look for a clear match between the warning and the verification result. If the evidence does not agree, don’t treat the AI explanation as confirmed.
- Only then decide whether a change is appropriate. Afterward, check whether the original symptom or status has changed.
