The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N pairs serious electric performance with track-focused hardware and playful simulated shifts, but its appeal depends on whether you want a road car that can also entertain on circuit. Hyundai quotes up to 650 PS and a 3.2-second 0–100 km/h run with N Launch Control; its regional range figures are WLTP estimates, not promises of real-world distance.
What the IONIQ 6 N is—and what this review can establish
Hyundai unveiled the IONIQ 6 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10, 2025, calling it the company’s second high-performance EV. The brand frames the car around three aims: “Corner Rascal,” “Racetrack Capability” and “Everyday Sportscar.” Those are design ambitions, not independent test results. The published specifications and attributed first-drive impressions below help show how the car is equipped and how it has been received; they do not establish long-term reliability or a definitive ownership verdict.

Hyundai’s November 2025 release described media driving at Korea International Circuit ahead of a planned early-2026 global launch. That timing is historical: it does not confirm current availability in any particular country. Hyundai’s global debut announcement quotes 650 PS (478 kW), 770 Nm of torque, a 257 km/h top speed and 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control. The UK technical data distinguishes the standard combined output from the temporary boost figure, so “650 PS” should not be read as the UK car’s unqualified continuous output.

The UK figures show why the operating mode matters: the quickest quoted time requires both N Grin Boost and N Launch Control. Hyundai’s global figure specifies N Launch Control, while the Australian sheet quotes a 3.2-second time with that system. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent instrumented tests.

Does it sound and feel like a sports car?
Hyundai’s feature list emphasizes more than acceleration: the company describes revised suspension geometry, battery thermal management intended for track scenarios, N Track Manager, N e-Shift and N Active Sound+. N e-Shift and N Active Sound+ recreate the cues of gear changes and engine sound; they are experiential features rather than evidence of a conventional gearbox or combustion engine.
TechRadar’s first-drive report, based on road driving near Barcelona and circuit use, found the simulated shift and sound features engaging. It also praised the brakes and controlled body motion, while noting the car’s mass. These are that publication’s impressions from a first drive—not measurements from an independent comparison or a long-term assessment. Hyundai’s November 2025 description of the car’s engineering and media drive is available in its IONIQ 6 N driving-experience announcement.

What range and charging figures should buyers expect?
Use the range figure for the market whose car you are considering. Hyundai UK lists 302 miles WLTP, while Hyundai Australia’s 2026 sheet lists 487 km WLTP. These are regional homologated figures, not separate real-world tests; Hyundai UK says actual range can vary with road conditions, driving style, temperature and tires.
| Published regional figure | Hyundai UK | Hyundai Australia (2026 sheet) |
|---|---|---|
| WLTP range | 302 miles | 487 km |
| Combined consumption or efficiency | 21.2 kWh/100 km | 18.7 kWh/100 km |
| Battery capacity | 84.0 kWh | Not stated on the cited specification sheet |
| DC charging time and peak rate | 10–80% in 18 minutes at 350 kW | Not stated on the cited specification sheet |
The UK charging claim is conditional: a public charger must support the required rate and the vehicle and charging conditions must permit it. A 350 kW-rated site does not guarantee that every session will sustain 350 kW or finish in 18 minutes. Confirm charging details and equipment for the exact local specification before planning around that time.

Hyundai Australia lists a tare mass of 2,201 kg and a 371 L rear cargo area. The weight is relevant context for a performance sedan that is also intended for circuit driving; TechRadar likewise noted the car’s mass in its first-drive impressions. The cargo figure is specific to the Australian 2026 specification and should not be assumed for every market.

Both Hyundai UK and Hyundai Australia list 275/35R20 tires. The Australian sheet names Pirelli P-Zero 5, but that does not establish it as the only approved tire or the correct replacement in other regions. Before buying replacements, check the vehicle placard and owner’s manual for approved fitment, load and speed ratings, and local requirements; tire choice and replacement cost are practical ownership factors for a high-performance car.
The Australian specification sheet does not state braked or unbraked towing capacity. Do not infer towing capability from the sedan’s size or cargo information; verify it in the local owner’s manual and official specification.

What should you verify before buying?
- Local price and availability: The cited sources do not establish current market-specific MSRP, dealer stock, incentives or delivery dates. Check with your regional Hyundai site and dealers.
- Warranty and insurance: Terms and premiums are country- and buyer-specific; the cited specifications do not establish them. Get written local details before committing.
- Exact vehicle specification: Confirm homologated range, charging equipment, included features and tire fitment for the model year and market you will purchase.
- Track use and parts: Hyundai announced N Performance Parts, but that announcement does not verify a current local catalog, pricing or stock. Ask a regional Hyundai dealer what is approved and available.
- Running costs: Ask for local quotes on performance tires and insurance, and consider charging access and the effect of driving conditions on range. The published WLTP figures are not a substitute for your route-specific estimate.
Verdict: who is the IONIQ 6 N for?
The IONIQ 6 N looks compelling on paper for drivers who want a high-output EV with explicit track-oriented systems and a more theatrical driving experience than silent acceleration alone. The published data supports the performance and charging claims only when their market and operating conditions are kept attached; first-drive praise for the sound, shifts, brakes and body control belongs to TechRadar, not to a long-term test.
It is harder to make a purchase case without current local pricing, warranty terms, availability and ownership-cost details. If road range, charging convenience or everyday utility matters more than circuit capability, compare the exact local car’s homologation and equipment with your own routes and needs before deciding.
