Huawei’s DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Automatic Transfer Depends on an October Firmware Update

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The HUAWEI × DJI Osmo Pocket 4 can automatically transfer photos and videos to a Huawei phone or tablet, but Huawei’s China product page says the feature requires specific software versions—and the camera firmware needed for it is expected to roll out progressively from mid-October 2026. As of October 3, Huawei has not promised a single release day or said every camera will receive the update at once.

What the mid-October update changes

Huawei advertises an automatic camera-to-phone transfer workflow for the HUAWEI × DJI Osmo Pocket 4. Once paired, photos can transfer after capture and videos after the camera is closed; Huawei also says 4K material can sync to a Huawei phone’s gallery. These are capabilities described by Huawei, not independently tested results. Huawei’s China product page says the required camera firmware is expected to be pushed out progressively from mid-October 2026. That is an expected rollout window, not a guaranteed date for every unit.

The announcement is specifically about Huawei’s China-market collaboration. It does not establish equivalent availability, pricing, software wording or bundle contents in other regions. Huawei’s official HUAWEI × DJI Osmo Pocket 4 product page is the source for the feature and its prerequisites.

Requirements for automatic transfer

Huawei says every condition below must be met:

  • A Huawei phone or tablet upgraded to HarmonyOS 7.0.0.107 SP6.
  • DJI Mimo app V1.7.0 (14000170).
  • Camera firmware V01.04.12.14 or later.
  • More than 15% battery remaining on the camera.
  • Phone storage above the threshold set on the phone.

Huawei says automatic transfer is supported only on Huawei phones and tablets. Having the camera, app and phone paired does not by itself satisfy the listed version and battery requirements; the camera must also receive the specified firmware.

How the related Huawei features differ

Feature What Huawei says Key distinction
Automatic camera-to-phone transfer Requires HarmonyOS 7.0.0.107 SP6, DJI Mimo V1.7.0 (14000170), camera firmware V01.04.12.14 or later, camera battery above 15%, and phone storage above its preset threshold. Specific to Huawei phones and tablets, with the camera firmware expected to roll out progressively from mid-October 2026.
All-scenario sharing Huawei lists support on Huawei devices running HarmonyOS 6.1 or later. This is a separate sharing feature; it does not replace the stricter automatic-transfer requirements.
Huawei Cloud upload Bind Huawei Cloud in DJI Mimo to upload footage manually or automatically. Automatic upload is described while the camera is powered off and charging, with battery above 20% and Wi-Fi connected; uploads use the user’s subscribed cloud storage. This is an upload-to-cloud workflow, not the same as automatic transfer to the phone gallery.
Livestreaming and audio Huawei advertises use of the camera as a distributed camera with a paired Huawei phone. It also says the full-kit microphone can connect directly to Huawei phones for audio. Huawei does not state that these features use the automatic-transfer prerequisites.

What to check before relying on the feature

  1. Check the phone: confirm it is a Huawei phone or tablet and is running HarmonyOS 7.0.0.107 SP6 for automatic transfer.
  2. Check DJI Mimo: verify the installed app is V1.7.0 (14000170).
  3. Check the camera firmware: look for V01.04.12.14 or later. If it is not installed, Huawei’s stated expectation is a progressive rollout beginning in mid-October 2026; the page does not give a universal arrival date.
  4. Meet the transfer conditions: keep the camera above 15% battery and make sure phone storage exceeds its preset threshold.

DJI’s release-note PDF documents an earlier snapshot dated April 16, 2026: firmware V01.01.32.02 and DJI Mimo V2.8.1. Those earlier versions do not establish whether a particular camera has received Huawei’s later collaboration firmware. DJI Osmo Pocket 4 release notes.

Camera price, kit and advertised specifications

Huawei’s China page lists the camera starting at ¥2,999, while warning that the displayed price is indicative and may differ from the current Huawei Mall listing. Its full kit includes a microphone, gimbal clamp, 1/4-inch threaded handle, wrist strap, carrying bag and USB-C PD fast-charge cable. Check the local listing for current price and exact bundle contents before buying; the China page does not establish regional availability.

Huawei advertises a 1-inch CMOS sensor, built-in 107 GB storage, three-axis mechanical stabilization and a rotating screen. Its listed 4K/240 fps capability applies only in slow-motion mode; 10-bit D-Log applies only in normal video mode. Huawei lists up to 14 stops of dynamic range in normal or D-Log color modes and says slow-motion recording may be lower. The claimed maximum export speed of 800 MB/s is attributed to DJI lab data and requires the supplied USB-C to USB-C PD USB 3.1 cable or another compliant cable; Huawei cautions that actual results vary. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.

Who should wait for the update?

If automatic gallery transfer is central to your purchase or workflow, treat the camera firmware as a prerequisite that may not be available on day one. A Huawei device on the required HarmonyOS version, the specified DJI Mimo build, adequate camera charge and sufficient phone storage are all needed. If you do not use a Huawei phone or tablet, Huawei says this automatic-transfer feature is not supported on your device. The separate sharing, cloud-upload and livestreaming descriptions should not be read as substitutes for that specific workflow.
