The Huawei Watch D3’s standout feature is a real inflatable cuff built into its strap, not a blood-pressure estimate based only on optical sensors. That makes it an intriguing health-focused smartwatch. But in repeated comparisons during the review, the D3 returned lower readings than a Garmin Index BPM. The comparison was too small to prove which device was right; it was enough to leave the reviewer less confident in the feature the D3 is built around.
How the Watch D3 measures blood pressure
The D3 uses a mechanical inflatable airbag integrated into its strap, together with a pressure sensor. Huawei describes the feature as ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring. This cuff-based approach is different from a watch that tries to estimate blood pressure from optical signals alone. Huawei outlines the feature on its UK Watch D3 product page, and TechRadar also describes the D3’s airbag mechanism in its independent review.

A cuff mechanism is a meaningful distinction, but it does not by itself establish that readings are accurate for every wearer or in every situation. Huawei’s UK page says the device is CE-MDR certified as a medical device. That is a manufacturer-reported regulatory claim, not a guarantee that any individual result is correct.

In the exact titled review, repeated D3 readings came in lower than readings from a Garmin Index BPM used for comparison. The author did not treat that informal comparison as proof that the D3 was inaccurate or that the Garmin was correct: the test was small and could not settle which device gave the right result. The reported discrepancy matters because blood pressure is the D3’s defining feature, and a user needs confidence in the readings to rely on them.

The available review material does not provide a controlled sample size or a D3-specific accuracy percentage. Nor does the available evidence establish a primary clinical-validation statistic for the D3. Huawei’s 2024–2025 report says the different Watch D2 passed ISO 81060-2:2018 clinical accuracy verification; that result should not be transferred to the D3.
If you are considering the D3 for health tracking, treat its readings as information from a wearable rather than a substitute for medical advice. For decisions about diagnosis or treatment, follow guidance from a qualified health professional and use a measurement method they recommend. Huawei also warns: “Do not use this device with other medical electrical equipment, as this may affect its functions and accuracy.”

What else the Watch D3 offers
The D3 has a 1.92-inch AMOLED display with a 408 × 480 resolution and 328 PPI. Huawei lists a 46.5 × 41 × 11.3 mm case; the 11.3 mm thickness is measured at the thinnest point and excludes the sensor area. The company gives the watch-body weight as approximately 40 g without the strap, and notes that dimensions and weight are theoretical values that may vary. These are Huawei UK specifications, not independent measurements.

Battery life depends on Huawei’s test profile
Huawei claims up to six days of battery life. Its typical-use laboratory profile includes six blood-pressure readings and five ECG readings per day, along with always-on heart-rate monitoring, TruSleep, stress and SpO₂ monitoring, exercise, notifications, calls and music. This is a vendor estimate under specified conditions, not an independent battery result; actual runtime will depend on use.

The D3 is most compelling for someone who specifically wants a smartwatch with an integrated inflatable blood-pressure cuff, alongside a large AMOLED screen and other health sensors. The feature is more substantial than an optical-only estimate, but the review’s lower readings versus a Garmin Index BPM leave an unresolved question rather than a clear endorsement of its measurement performance.

If dependable blood-pressure measurement is the main reason you would buy it, weigh that uncertainty carefully and ask a health professional which device and measurement method are appropriate for you. If blood-pressure tracking is secondary, judge the D3 as a broader smartwatch too, including its phone compatibility, local feature availability and Huawei’s stated battery conditions.
