Its advertised 12,000-nit peak is a Huawei laboratory result measured at 1% APL—not a sustained full-screen brightness figure. The one-inch sensor is in a separate Ruiying Z10 camera module, and Huawei says its camera functions require the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector’s Edition.
What the 12,000-nit display figure means
Huawei lists a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED panel with FHD+ resolution (2848 × 1320), adaptive 1–120 Hz LTPO refresh, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and 300 Hz touch sampling. The headline brightness figure needs context: Huawei describes 12,000 nits as a peak measured in its laboratory at 1% APL, a small-area test pattern. The company says brightness varies with the environment, so this number should not be read as ordinary full-screen or sustained brightness. Huawei’s China product page does not provide an independent measurement.

Glass also differs by edition: Huawei lists third-generation Kunlun Glass for the standard model and Basalt Kunlun Glass for the Collector’s Edition. The specifications do not establish a comparative durability result between them. Huawei’s specifications page lists the edition details.

The phone’s rear camera system comprises a 50MP main camera, 40MP ultrawide, 200MP telephoto and third-generation Red Maple primary-color camera, according to Huawei. The 200MP headline has an important limitation: Huawei says high-pixel mode is available only at the 4× focal length. It does not mean every zoom setting produces 200MP images.

Huawei lists approximately 4× optical zoom, 8× optical-quality zoom and up to 100× digital zoom. These are manufacturer specifications; the cited pages do not provide independent image-quality testing or comparative results.
The one-inch camera is an optional module, not a built-in sensor
The Ruiying Z10 is a separately purchased camera module, not a camera contained in every Mate 90 Pro Max. Huawei specifies a one-inch sensor, a 24–240 mm focal range, 10× continuous optical zoom and a maximum-aperture range of f/2.0–f/4.5. Huawei says the module’s camera functions require the Collector’s Edition; do not assume it works as a camera accessory with the standard edition. Compatibility beyond that statement is not established on the cited product page.

What the launch information does—and does not—establish
- The 12,000-nit claim is a manufacturer laboratory peak at 1% APL, not evidence of sustained brightness across the whole display.
- The 200MP camera is built into the phone’s rear system, but Huawei limits high-pixel mode to the 4× focal length.
- The one-inch sensor belongs to the optional Ruiying Z10 module, whose camera functions Huawei says require the Collector’s Edition.
- The cited official specifications cover the China-market product; they do not confirm availability elsewhere.
- The cited material supplies manufacturer specifications and launch reporting, not independent tests of brightness, photos or battery endurance.
