HP’s OmniBook Ultra 16 is a newly announced premium Windows laptop built around NVIDIA RTX Spark, a large 3K OLED touchscreen and up to 128GB of onboard memory. HP announced it on October 15, 2026, so this is a launch-stage first look rather than a performance review: independent hands-on benchmarks and measured battery tests were not yet established. The hardware and claims suggest a strong fit for creators, developers, gamers and advanced local-AI users, but buyers should verify the exact regional SKU before ordering.
What the HP OmniBook Ultra 16 is
The OmniBook Ultra 16 is a 16-inch Windows 11 Home laptop aimed at users who want workstation-style capacity in a relatively thin premium design. Its defining platform is NVIDIA RTX Spark: HP lists an RTX Spark N1X processor with an 18-core CPU and 5,120-core GPU, alongside hardware and thermal engineering intended for sustained local-AI and creator workloads.

HP also positions the machine for entrepreneurs, developers and gamers. That positioning is credible on paper, but real application and game performance will depend on software support, power limits, cooling behavior and the exact configuration. No independent benchmark results were established at announcement.

The display is the headline feature
The 2,880×1,800 OLED panel combines high pixel density with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and a stated 0.2ms response time. OLED should provide the deep blacks and contrast expected for photo, video and game work, while 100% DCI-P3 coverage targets wide-gamut creative workflows. HP’s listed 1,100-nit HDR peak and 500-nit SDR brightness are panel specifications; sustained brightness, automatic brightness behavior and color accuracy still require independent testing.
The touchscreen adds pen- and finger-based interaction, although HP’s launch information does not establish a bundled stylus or a specific pen protocol. Confirm accessory compatibility for your market before buying.

RTX Spark and local AI: what can be concluded now
RTX Spark is the reason to consider this model over a conventional large-screen notebook. The listed N1X combines an 18-core CPU with a 5,120-core GPU, and HP describes local AI performance rather than requiring every workload to run in the cloud. That could benefit privacy-sensitive inference, development environments and creative applications that support the platform.
At launch, however, the practical advantage depends on available drivers, frameworks and application optimization. HP has not supplied independent tokens-per-second, render-time or game-frame-rate measurements in the material available for this first look. Treat software compatibility and sustained thermals as questions to verify in reviews or with your specific applications.

Memory and storage: choose the capacity up front
HP Support lists 32GB, 64GB and 128GB LPDDR5x-9400 configurations, plus 1TB or 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSDs. The US product page specifies 32GB and 1TB for its listed model. Memory is described as onboard, and HP does not describe it as user-upgradeable, so buying enough RAM at checkout matters. Developers running virtual machines, large models or container stacks should look beyond the 32GB base configuration; creators working with large media libraries should consider the 2TB option or plan for external storage.
Battery life and charging
The 99Wh battery is large for a notebook. HP Japan claims up to 17 hours of continuous FHD-video playback and up to 50% charge in 30 minutes. The video figure is HP’s own test claim, not an independent result; the fast-charge statement applies under HP’s stated conditions, including a shut-down system and HP adapter.

Who should buy it—and who should wait
Good fit
- Creators who value a large OLED canvas, wide-gamut coverage and fast refresh.
- Developers and AI practitioners who can use local GPU acceleration and need 64GB or more memory.
- Gamers who want a high-refresh OLED screen and are willing to verify game support and sustained performance.
- Professionals who prefer local processing for supported AI workloads.
Reasons to wait
- You need measured gaming, rendering or AI benchmarks before committing.
- You require field-upgradeable memory; HP presents the RAM as onboard.
- You need a guaranteed all-day runtime under heavy workloads rather than video playback.
- Your region has not published a final SKU, price or delivery date.
First-impressions verdict
On specifications, the OmniBook Ultra 16 is an ambitious premium AI laptop: RTX Spark hardware, a high-end 3K OLED touchscreen, a 99Wh battery and unusually generous memory options. Its value will be determined by software maturity, sustained cooling, real battery endurance and regional pricing—areas that cannot be judged from the launch announcement alone. For buyers who specifically want local AI capability and a large OLED display, it is a model to watch; for everyone else, wait for independent testing and confirm the exact SKU.
