Its Intel Core Ultra 7 356H configuration is best suited to productivity, calls and media—not demanding gaming—and its 16GB of onboard memory cannot be upgraded. Check the exact processor, graphics and RAM before buying: HP uses the OmniBook Ultra name for several distinct configurations.
Which HP OmniBook Ultra 14 configuration is this review about?
The review covers an Intel-based configuration with a Core Ultra 7 356H processor, integrated Intel Graphics, 16GB of onboard LPDDR5x memory and a 1TB SSD. Those details matter: the OmniBook Ultra name does not identify a single set of components.

HP’s 14-kd0000 series specifications list several Intel configurations. The page distinguishes Intel Graphics on Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 models from Intel Arc B390 graphics on a Core Ultra X9 option, and lists onboard memory choices including 16GB and 32GB. It also lists 1TB and 2TB PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSD options. Separately, HP’s 14-kg0000 series specifications describe Qualcomm Snapdragon-based systems sold under the OmniBook Ultra name. Confirm the full model or SKU and regional listing rather than assuming all OmniBook Ultras perform alike.

A high-specification OLED screen
HP lists a 14-inch 3K OLED touchscreen with a 2880 × 1800 resolution, refresh rates up to 120Hz, a 0.2ms response time, 500-nit SDR brightness, HDR brightness up to 1100 nits, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of the reviewed unit. The combination of high resolution, OLED contrast and a fast refresh rate makes the panel a major part of the laptop’s appeal for everyday work and media.
Strong-feeling response in ordinary workloads
Intel specifies the Core Ultra 7 356H as a 16-core, 16-thread mobile processor with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.7GHz, 18MB cache and a 50-TOPS NPU peak rating; Intel lists its launch in Q1 2026. Those figures describe the chip, not a guarantee of real-world speed. The review reports smooth everyday use and publishes benchmark results, but they should be read as results from that review’s tests rather than predictions for every task or configuration.

Where does the reviewed configuration fall short?
Integrated graphics set a limit for games and GPU-heavy work
The reviewed Core Ultra 7 356H system uses integrated Intel Graphics. Intel lists four Xe-cores for the processor’s integrated graphics. The review reports poor results in demanding games, so this configuration is a better fit for office apps, browsing, video calls and media than for serious gaming or graphics-intensive creation. The “Ultra” branding does not mean the reviewed laptop has a discrete gaming GPU; HP’s higher-graphics X9/Arc B390 configuration is a different option, and its performance should not be inferred from this review.
The review lists CrystalDiskMark sequential read and write results of 10,244 and 6,898 MB/s. Its graphics tests report 1,972 in 3DMark Steel Nomad Light, 474 in Steel Nomad, 10,391 in Solar Bay and 1,405 in Solar Bay Extreme. It also reports Geekbench 7 scores of 2,414 single-core and 14,196 multi-core, plus an OpenCL score of 19,072. These are figures reported by the review for its test configuration and methods; they were not independently reproduced here and are not guarantees of what another SKU will achieve.

Memory is fixed at the capacity you buy
The reviewed unit has 16GB of onboard memory, and the review reports that it cannot be upgraded. HP lists 16GB and 32GB onboard options for Intel Ultra 7/9 configurations. If you routinely keep many demanding applications open, edit large media projects or want more headroom over the life of the laptop, choose capacity with that workload in mind at purchase rather than expecting to add RAM later.
Some design details may irritate
The review criticizes keyboard backlighting because it can make the keys harder to read, and says the hinge does not tilt as far as the author would prefer. These are subjective observations; they are worth checking in person if keyboard visibility or a wide range of screen angles is important to you.

What are the ports and battery expectations?
The review describes three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a headphone/microphone combo jack, while HP’s Intel-series page identifies Thunderbolt 4 support. The review notes the absence of a broad selection of legacy ports. If your setup depends on USB-A, HDMI or a card reader, a USB-C hub or Thunderbolt dock may be useful; if it does not, there is no reason to treat one as a required purchase. Port details can vary by regional SKU, so check the documentation for the exact model.

The review cites HP claims of up to 20 hours 45 minutes of battery life and up to 30 hours 15 minutes of video playback. These are “up to” manufacturer figures, not a promise of everyday runtime; workload, display settings and other conditions affect results. Verify the battery claim for the exact regional SKU before relying on it for travel planning.
Should you buy the HP OmniBook Ultra 14?
For someone who wants a light, premium-feeling Windows laptop for productivity, video calls and media, the reviewed Core Ultra 7 356H model has a compelling screen and the review describes it as responsive in ordinary use. The main trade-offs are more important than its name suggests: integrated graphics constrain demanding games and GPU-heavy work, and the 16GB reviewed configuration has no memory upgrade path.
Consider this specific configuration if 16GB suits your workload and its current price makes sense. Choose a 32GB option if you need more memory capacity, or investigate the higher-graphics X9/Arc B390 model if graphics performance is central to your needs. Compare the exact SKU’s processor, GPU, RAM, screen, ports and price before deciding; the review page states an MSRP of $1,319, but that is not verified as a current or universal retail price.
