HP OmniBook 5 vs. Acer Swift Go 14: Which Affordable Laptop Should You Buy?

There is no reliable family-wide winner: both the HP OmniBook 5 and Acer Swift Go 14 come in different configurations, and the exact model sold in your region determines its screen, processor, memory, ports, weight and price. Compare full SKU numbers before buying. In the documented examples here, Acer’s UK Swift Go 14 AI SFG14-75-70BG has a 14-inch OLED display and a broad port selection; HP’s OmniBook 5 range includes Snapdragon models as well as newer Intel- and AMD-based versions.

Start with the exact model, not the family name

“HP OmniBook 5” and “Acer Swift Go 14” each cover more than one configuration. A retailer listing may differ from another model with the same family name in processor, screen, storage, ports, weight or even generation. Check the full SKU and the manufacturer’s regional specifications before treating any comparison as applying to the laptop in your cart.

HP’s documented 14-he0000 series, released in May 2025, offers Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 or Snapdragon X X1-26-100 processors, onboard memory, a 59 Wh battery, a starting weight of 1.35 kg, two USB-C ports, USB-A and audio, plus an OLED display option. HP notes that configuration and components affect specifications and battery capacity. Its broader OmniBook 5 line also includes 14-inch families with Intel or AMD processors and different display and port options. See HP’s 14-he0000 specifications.

Acer’s SFG14-75 configurations also vary by region. For example, the UK SFG14-75-70BG specification and Australian SFG14-75-5511 specification are different retail configurations, not interchangeable descriptions of one laptop. See Acer’s Swift Go 14 AI specifications.

What do the documented configurations include?

Configuration Processor and display Memory and storage Battery, weight and ports
HP OmniBook 5 14-he0000 series (2025) Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 or Snapdragon X X1-26-100; 14-inch OLED option Onboard memory; particular capacity depends on configuration. Storage capacity not stated in the cited HP series summary. 59 Wh; starting weight 1.35 kg; two USB-C, USB-A and audio. HP says components and features vary by region and configuration.
Acer Swift Go 14 AI SFG14-75-70BG (UK) Core Ultra 7 256V; 14-inch 1920 × 1200 OLED, 60 Hz 16 GB RAM; 1 TB SSD 65 Wh; approximately 1.24 kg; two USB-A, two USB4, HDMI and microSD; maximum runtime listed as 26 hours.
Acer Swift Go 14 SFG14-75-5511 (Australia) Core Ultra 5 226V; display details not stated in the cited Australian configuration summary. 16 GB RAM; 512 GB SSD 65 Wh; approximately 1.39 kg; two USB-C/USB4, two USB-A, HDMI and microSD; maximum runtime listed as 16 hours.

Acer’s regional listings show why it is worth verifying the complete model number: the Australian example has a different processor, storage capacity and approximate weight from the UK example. The display details for that Australian SKU are not stated in the cited configuration summary, so do not assume it has the UK model’s panel.

Which has the better screen?

The UK Acer SFG14-75-70BG has a specified 14-inch OLED panel at 1920 × 1200 and 60 Hz. HP’s 14-he0000 series has a 14-inch OLED option, but the family name alone does not establish that a particular listing includes it. Confirm the panel type, resolution, brightness and touch support on the exact SKU: “OLED” by itself does not establish that two screens have the same specifications or viewing characteristics.

Which is lighter?

The UK Acer SFG14-75-70BG is listed at approximately 1.24 kg, compared with HP’s 1.35 kg starting weight for the 14-he0000 series. These are not a complete, matched-SKU comparison: the HP figure is a series starting weight, while the Australian Acer SFG14-75-5511 is approximately 1.39 kg. Check the weight of the exact regional configuration if portability is a deciding factor.

Which has better battery life?

The published figures are not a head-to-head test. HP says a specific 14-inch OmniBook 5 configuration—Snapdragon X1-26-100, 16 GB RAM, non-touch 2K OLED and 512 GB SSD—“may be able to achieve up to 34 hours of local video playback at 200 nits.” That is HP’s manufacturer claim for a defined configuration and test condition, not an independently verified result.

Acer lists maximum runtimes of 26 hours for the UK SFG14-75-70BG and 16 hours for the Australian SFG14-75-5511. Acer cautions that battery life varies with model, configuration, software, settings and operating conditions. Its maximum-runtime entries are not stated as a test matched to HP’s local-video claim, so the numbers cannot establish which laptop lasts longer in comparable use.

If endurance is crucial, look for an independent review of the exact retail models tested at comparable brightness and under the workload you care about. Otherwise, treat the manufacturer figures as claims tied to different configurations and methods, not as a direct ranking.

How to choose between them

  1. Match the full SKU. Record the manufacturer model number from the retailer listing and check it against the regional product specifications.
  2. Compare the included hardware. Check processor, graphics platform, memory and SSD capacity, then confirm the screen’s resolution, brightness and touch support rather than relying on the family name or an OLED label.
  3. Check the connections and carry weight. Count the ports you actually need, including USB-C/USB4, USB-A, HDMI and microSD, and compare the exact model’s weight.
  4. Compare local prices for those exact configurations. No same-market, same-date price comparison is established here. Value depends on what the local listing includes, not just its product-family label.
  5. Use comparable battery evidence if it matters most. Prefer matched tests of the exact retail SKUs; manufacturer maximums with different stated conditions are not enough to declare a winner.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Acer Swift Go 14 if

  • The exact local SFG14-75 configuration provides the screen and port selection you want.
  • Its included processor, memory and storage meet your needs at a better local price than the HP configuration you are comparing.

Choose the HP OmniBook 5 if

  • The specific OmniBook 5 SKU offers the processor platform, display, memory, storage and ports you want at a competitive local price.
  • You have confirmed which OmniBook generation and configuration the seller is offering rather than assuming all OmniBook 5 models share the 14-he0000 specifications.

Without your region, budget and exact listings, a universal value verdict would be misleading. Make the decision between two complete, locally priced SKUs—not between two product-family names.
