The HP HyperX OMEN 16 pairs a powerful AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU in the specific 16-ap1931nr configuration reviewed by Notebookcheck. Its CPU scores are impressive in the listed tests, but they do not establish a universal speed ranking or tell the whole gaming story. The OMEN 16 name covers different hardware by model and market, so check the full SKU before comparing prices or buying.
Which HP HyperX OMEN 16 configuration was reviewed?
Notebookcheck’s tested system is the HP HyperX OMEN 16 16-ap1931nr, configured with an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. Those details define the machine behind the benchmark results below; they should not be assumed to apply to every OMEN 16 listing.

For example, HP’s India store lists the separate model 16-ap1096AX with a Ryzen 9 9955HX. That is a different processor and SKU, not another name for the 16-ap1931nr. Confirm the exact model number, CPU, GPU, memory, storage, display, and warranty on the regional listing you are considering.

| Benchmark | Result | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Cinebench R20 CPU multi-core | 14,209 points | CPU performance across a multi-core rendering workload |
| Geekbench 6.7 multi-core | 19,418 points | CPU performance across Geekbench’s multi-core workloads |
| Geekbench 6.7 single-core | 3,159 points | CPU performance in a single-core workload |
These are reviewer results for one tested configuration, not market-wide statistics. They support calling the processor highly competitive in the listed tests, but “one of the fastest” depends on which benchmark, laptop power limits, firmware, cooling, and comparison set are in play. A CPU score alone does not predict game frame rates: the GPU, resolution, graphics settings, and a game’s workload also matter.
What do the gaming-review details establish?
Tom’s Guide describes its reviewed Valorant Edition unit as having an RTX 5070, an AMD Ryzen 9 processor, and 32GB of RAM. It lists $3,049 as the price for that particular review unit. The available details do not establish that it is the exact same 16-ap1931nr configuration tested by Notebookcheck, so do not combine Tom’s Guide’s price and memory figure with Notebookcheck’s benchmark scores as though they came from one machine.

What should buyers verify before choosing an OMEN 16?
- Full model or SKU: Match the model number on the retailer or HP listing to the configuration being discussed.
- CPU and GPU: Distinguish the 9955HX3D from the separately listed 9955HX, and verify the graphics processor rather than relying on the OMEN 16 family name.
- Display and memory: Confirm resolution, refresh rate, panel, memory, and storage for that exact regional configuration. The cited details do not establish all these specifications for Notebookcheck’s 16-ap1931nr sample.
- Price and warranty: Verify the current price, included warranty, and seller in your country; the reviewed-unit price is not a live quote.
What are OMEN AI and Unleashed Mode?
HP describes OMEN AI and Unleashed Mode as performance features on its India product page. That product-page description establishes how HP presents the features, not independent validation of a particular performance gain. Results should not be assumed to transfer across OMEN models or configurations.

Does the HyperX name mean every OMEN laptop is the same?
No. HP’s branding context presents OMEN and HyperX together, but a branding change does not establish shared parts or performance across generations and configurations. Josephine Tan, HP Inc.’s Senior Vice President and Division President of Personal Systems Gaming Solutions, described the brand direction this way: “Gamers deserve a seamless experience that matches their passion, from the systems that power their worlds to the gear that connects them,” [c4] That is corporate messaging, not a finding about this laptop’s benchmark performance.
