The India-specific HP HyperX OMEN 16-ap1058AX pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU and a 240 Hz, 16-inch display. It is a powerful gaming laptop with a VALORANT design that extends beyond a logo, but its 2.47 kg chassis, short reviewer-reported battery life and high, changing India price make it a better fit for a desk than frequent travel.
What configuration does the India model include?
HP India lists the 16-ap1058AX under product code DL5J7PA#ACJ. Its core components are a 16-core, 32-thread AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor, rated up to 5.4 GHz, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. The laptop ships with Windows 11 Home Single Language, 24 GB of DDR5-5600 memory in a single 1×24 GB module, and a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD. These specifications describe this Indian SKU, not every OMEN 16 configuration. HP India’s product listing is the source for its configuration.

The single-module memory arrangement is worth noting when comparing listings: this is 24 GB installed as 1×24 GB, not a 2×12 GB kit. HP also specifies two M.2 SSD slots, but that fact alone is not a reason to upgrade storage.

Gadgets 360’s 2026 hands-on review reported about 640 fps in VALORANT at 1080p High and 386 fps at 2560×1440 High. Those are results from that publication’s test setup and settings, not a promise of the same frame rate on every game version, system profile or thermal condition. At the laptop’s native 2560×1600 resolution, performance should not be inferred directly from the review’s 2560×1440 result.

The same review recorded a Cinebench R23 multi-core score of 37,420 and a 3DMark Steel Nomad score of 3,049. These help indicate the system’s performance in those benchmark runs, but do not replace game-specific testing. Gadgets 360 found that Unleashed mode opens up performance while producing the loudest fan noise, so maximum output comes with a clear acoustic trade-off.
91mobiles gave the exact model 6.9/10 in its review, highlighting CPU and gaming performance alongside the display and keyboard. Its reviewer also noted the cost of an RTX 5070 non-Ti configuration. The rating is that publication’s assessment, not a standardized measure of performance.

How much does the VALORANT edition change?
The edition has a RIOT blue finish, warm red cover logo and VALORANT-themed keyboard with four-zone RGB lighting, a numeric keypad and 26-key rollover/anti-ghosting, according to HP. 91mobiles also observed map references and red WASD keys, while both 91mobiles and Gadgets 360 describe the 8,000 Hz HyperAction keyboard as a notable special-edition feature. These are hardware and design details; they do not alter the game itself.
The keyboard’s distinctive appearance is a bigger part of the appeal than a cosmetic logo alone. For buyers who want a themed machine, the design is unusually specific; for anyone who prefers a neutral-looking laptop, the bright finish and red accents may be less versatile.

What are the practical drawbacks?
Weight and carrying
HP lists the laptop at 2.47 kg, with a 280 W power adapter. Gadgets 360’s reviewer considered it heavy to carry, so it is more suited to a desk or occasional move between locations than daily commuting.

Gadgets 360 reported around 2 hours 45 minutes under its normal-to-heavy use. That is one reviewer’s observation under their usage conditions, not a standardized battery rating or an expected duration for every workload. The reviewer also noted that the 280 W adapter can get hot.

Tom’s Guide reported 90 minutes in its PCMark 10 Gaming battery test and 2 hours 42 minutes of web surfing, but its review unit had a Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor and 32 GB of memory. Those results are not measurements of this Indian 16-ap1058AX configuration and should not be used to predict its battery life.
Fan noise and speakers
Gadgets 360 found Unleashed mode loud, and said the speakers lack low-end punch. For serious gaming or media listening, headphones may be preferable to relying on the built-in speakers.
What does it cost in India?
Prices reported for this model differ by source and date. HP India displayed ₹2,59,999.01 and “In Stock” for the SKU when accessed on 7 October 2026; the listing also showed a changing offers banner. Gadgets 360’s review, updated 22 September 2026, stated an India starting price of ₹2,24,999. These are separate dated observations, not a single current or guaranteed price. Who should buy it?
- A good fit: VALORANT players who want the themed design and keyboard, as well as a high-refresh 1600p screen and strong general gaming performance.
- Consider another configuration: buyers who prioritize OLED contrast, low carry weight, quieter maximum-performance gaming or longer unplugged use.
- Check before purchase: the exact Indian SKU, live price and stock, and the return and warranty terms attached to the seller and listing.
Competitors named in review coverage include the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 10, Asus ROG Strix G16 and Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S. Current Indian configurations and prices for those models are not established here, so a price-performance ranking would be premature. Compare exact CPU and GPU variants, display panel and refresh rate, weight, battery testing, noise, keyboard and audio, plus India warranty and support, rather than relying on a family name alone.
