The HP Envy Photo 7975 is a capable home print, scan, copy, and photo all-in-one, but its strongest case is convenience rather than top-tier photo color or low ink costs. Independent testing by RTINGS found detailed document output and useful scanning hardware, alongside disappointing color accuracy, slow color printing, low cartridge yields, and scans that lose detail to processing. It makes the most sense for households that value its automatic document feeder and occasional snapshot printing more than frequent, color-critical output.
What the HP Envy Photo 7975 offers
HP positions the 7975 as a home inkjet for documents and photos. The US product listing, product number B63K3A#B1H, includes a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), a flatbed scanner, automatic two-sided printing, and a dedicated 15-sheet photo tray alongside a 125-sheet main input tray. Output capacity is listed as 60 sheets. HP says the separate photo tray lets users switch between photo and everyday document paper without changing the main tray; that is a convenience feature, not evidence of superior photo quality.

Connectivity includes dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and USB 2.0. HP lists a 2.7-inch color capacitive touchscreen. A USB cable is not included, so wired setup may require a separate cable. See HP’s product page for its listed features and paper options.

Documents
RTINGS describes document output as good and detailed, making the 7975 suitable for ordinary home paperwork and school or household documents. HP rates it at up to 15 pages per minute in black and 10 pages per minute in color using its ISO, laser-comparable specification method. Those are manufacturer-rated figures, not independent speed-test results; RTINGS found color-document printing slow in its testing. HP’s current support specifications are at the 7900e-series specifications page.

Photos
The dedicated tray and support for photo paper make casual home snapshots convenient. HP lists options such as 4 x 6-inch matte photo paper. However, RTINGS found the printer’s color accuracy and gamut disappointing, so the 7975 is a weaker fit for color-critical work or users who expect especially faithful, wide-ranging photo color. Its “Photo” name and separate tray describe the intended use and handling; they do not guarantee professional-grade results.
Scanning and copying
The combination of flatbed and ADF gives the 7975 flexibility: use the flatbed for individual items and the feeder for a stack of pages. RTINGS found the scanning useful overall but reported that aggressive image processing can remove detail from scanned documents. The available specifications establish an ADF, but do not establish duplex scanning; do not assume it scans both sides of a sheet automatically. Copying is included, though no separate copy-speed result is stated in the cited sources.

Ink compatibility and likely replacement frequency
For the US product listing, HP specifies HP 64 and HP 64XL cartridges. HP estimates the following page yields on its current US product listing; these are manufacturer estimates, not comparative test results. Actual yield varies with page content and use.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute| Cartridge | HP estimated yield |
|---|---|
| HP 64 black | Approximately 200 pages |
| HP 64 tri-color | Approximately 165 pages |
| HP 64XL black | Approximately 600 pages |
| HP 64XL tri-color | Approximately 415 pages |
RTINGS also found low cartridge yields and notes that the tri-color cartridge must be replaced when any one of its colors runs out. That can make replacement frequency a significant part of ownership for households that print often or use color regularly. XL cartridges offer higher stated yields, but do not change the printer’s underlying color limitations.

Cartridge families vary by region and exact model. RTINGS identifies its US/APAC 7975 variant with HP 64/64XL; some European variants use HP 303/303XL. Check the printer’s regional SKU and HP’s compatibility lookup before ordering rather than relying on the model name alone. The related Envy Photo 7275 is not interchangeable as a feature reference: RTINGS says that model lacks an ADF.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recommended workload and long-idle risk
HP’s 2026 support specifications recommend a monthly page volume of 300–400 pages and list a maximum monthly duty cycle of 1,000 pages. The recommended volume is the more useful planning figure for routine use; the maximum duty cycle is not a statement that printing 1,000 pages each month is economical or advisable.

RTINGS flags the possibility of inkjet nozzle clogging after prolonged non-use. It also notes that the printheads are included in the cartridges, which means replacing a cartridge replaces its printhead. That design does not eliminate the inconvenience or cost of ink consumption and replacement.

- Consider it if you need a home all-in-one with an ADF and flatbed, print detailed documents, and value a separate photo-paper tray for occasional snapshots.
- Look elsewhere if accurate, wide-gamut photo color, fast color-document output, detailed scans, or infrequent cartridge replacement is a priority.
- Compare before buying if you scan stacks often or care about ink economy. RTINGS’ comparison reports that the Brother MFC-J1360DW produces more accurate, wider-gamut photos, scans faster and in more detail, and has substantially higher cartridge yield. Those are review findings, not a current-price comparison.
For a purchase decision, weigh the convenience of the ADF and paper handling against recurring ink use, rather than judging only by the feature list or a temporary sale price. HP’s specifications describe capabilities; RTINGS’ findings describe tested performance.
