The HP Envy 6530e is a budget wireless inkjet all-in-one for light home printing and occasional student work. It prints, copies, scans and sends mobile fax, prints double-sided automatically, and feeds 35 sheets through its document feeder. Its strongest point is photo output, especially on glossy paper. Its weakest points are speed and the cost of replacement ink. This review is built from HP’s published specifications and from published reviews, including TechRadar’s testing. It is not a hands-on lab test by the author.
Who this printer suits
TechRadar’s 2026 all-in-one roundup places the Envy 6555e, its US counterpart, in its budget all-in-one category. Its reviewer judges the machine suitable for casual home printing or occasional student work, not for daily business use. That verdict fits the specifications: a modest rated speed, a 100-sheet tray and a small two-cartridge ink system are built for household volumes, not office queues.

Model names and regional differences
The same hardware is sold under different product numbers in different markets. TechRadar identifies the HP Envy 6555e as the US counterpart of the 6530e sold in the UK. Before buying, confirm the exact product number printed on your printer or box, because the model number alone does not settle which cartridges and service terms apply in your country.

Print quality
TechRadar’s reviewer reports sharp, bold text and vibrant colour on both documents and photos. Glossy photo prints are the standout result. The Australian home-printer roundup from TechRadar makes a similar point, noting good output and modest speeds. HP’s UK store listing also advertises borderless printing and photo media support, although no particular third-party photo paper was tested for this review.

Speed and volume
The rated figures are low: up to 10 ppm for black and 7 ppm for colour. TechRadar’s reviewer describes the printer as slow in day-to-day use. The 35-sheet feeder is also slow, though the same review calls it accurate. If you regularly print long reports or batch-scan multi-page originals, expect to wait. Occasional letters, school projects and photo prints are the workloads it handles comfortably.
Ink and cartridges
Running cost is the main ownership question. HP’s Middle East specifications list the following yields for the HP 308 family. HP notes that actual yield varies with the content of each page.

| Cartridge | Type | Product number | HP-listed yield |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP 308 | Black, standard | 7FP21UE | About 160 pages |
| HP 308 | Tri-colour | 7FP20UE | About 120 pages |
| HP 308e EvoMore | Black, higher yield | 7FP22UE | About 320 pages |
TechRadar’s reviewer describes cartridge consumption as fast and notes that the box contains little ink. The tri-colour cartridge combines three colours in one unit, so when one colour runs low, you replace the whole cartridge, which also increases waste. No cost-per-page figure is given here because prices and yields differ by market. To work out your own figure, divide the local price of a cartridge by its listed yield, then compare that with the cost of an ink-tank printer over the same number of pages. TechRadar points readers who care most about long-term savings toward ink-tank models.
HP+ and dynamic security
HP’s Middle East product specifications state:
“HP+ requires an HP account, ongoing connection to the internet, and exclusive use of Original HP Ink cartridges for the life of the printer.”

HP’s UK store adds that cartridges must use new or reused HP electronic circuitry, and that periodic firmware updates maintain the measures that block modified or non-HP circuitry. In practice, this means a printer that depends on a live internet connection and HP’s account system, and that may refuse cartridges it does not recognise after an update. Read these terms before you consider a third-party cartridge, because the HP+ commitment covers the printer’s life, not just its first year.

- Wireless setup works on dual-band Wi-Fi, and the printer supports AirPrint and other mobile printing.
- Mobile fax is supported, which is useful if you still receive faxes by phone line.
- The 2.4-inch touchscreen handles setup and copy settings. Reviewers did not single out its menus for praise or criticism.

Before you buy
- Find the exact product number on the printer or its box, and confirm the country it was sold in.
- Check HP’s supply listing for that country before choosing cartridges, and match the code exactly.
- Estimate your monthly page count. If it is more than a few hundred pages, weigh the cartridge running cost against an ink-tank model.
- Read HP+ and Instant Ink terms for your region. Decide whether you accept an internet-connected account and Original HP Ink for the printer’s life.
- If you print mostly photos, budget for compatible photo paper and test borderless output on your own paper.
Bottom line
The HP Envy 6530e is a sensible choice for a household that prints a few pages a week, scans now and then, and wants good glossy photo prints from a low entry price. It is not built for heavy use. Its speed is low, its cartridges run out quickly, and its HP+ terms tie you to HP’s ink and account system. Buy it for light use and check local cartridge codes and plan terms first.
