HP EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 review: Which configuration earns its premium?

The HP EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 is a capable premium business convertible, but its value depends heavily on the exact configuration. Notebookcheck’s reviewed Core Ultra 7 366H model with a 1800p OLED display was priced at approximately $3,000–$3,500 on its review page; that is a snapshot for that high-end unit, not a price for every model. Its long tested battery runtime, broad port selection, convertible design and integrated stylus garage make a strong case for some business users, while the price, palm-rest heat and pen ergonomics are meaningful trade-offs.

Is the EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 worth the price?

It can be, if you specifically need a premium Windows business laptop that converts into a tablet and want the OLED display, pen garage and reviewed configuration’s feature set. Notebookcheck’s review praises the design, port variety, audio, keyboard and battery life, and lists bright HDR support on the OLED model among its strengths. The same review flags a high price, warmth around the left palm rest, imperfect Turbo Boost sustainability and a stylus that may feel too small or narrow.

The review price—approximately $3,000–$3,500 for the Core Ultra 7 366H/1800p OLED configuration—is best read as retail context on Notebookcheck’s review page, not a fixed price or a family-wide starting price. HP offers distinct configurations, including lower-tier processor and LCD options. Compare the configuration you can actually buy rather than assuming the review unit’s display, processor or cost applies to all EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 models.

Which configuration should you choose?

HP lists multiple processor, memory and display choices, and says the components present depend on the custom configuration. Its official specifications include options up to 64 GB of onboard LPDDR5X memory, WUXGA LCD and 3K OLED panels, and a hinge that opens through 360 degrees. These are family-level options, not a claim that every model combines them.

HP’s US store shows, among others, a configurable Core Ultra 5 model with 24 GB memory, 512 GB storage and a WUXGA touchscreen, as well as a separate Core Ultra 7 356H model with 32 GB memory, 1 TB storage, WUXGA touch and a three-year Wolf Pro Security license. Those differ from Notebookcheck’s Core Ultra 7 366H/1800p OLED review unit. Store prices and promotions can change, so check the specific live SKU and its included services.

Before choosing, compare the exact processor, display, memory, storage, price and included warranty or security services. Also verify the panel finish and brightness for the SKU: the review calls out graininess on the matte-panel option, while its OLED unit’s HDR support is a positive. If you plan to write or draw, confirm whether a pen is included with the specific SKU and whether its size suits you; the reviewed material does not establish consistent in-box pen contents across configurations.

What are the design, keyboard, ports and pen like?

Notebookcheck describes a redesigned all-metal chassis with flatter edges and corners, and reports that it weighs almost 200 grams less than its predecessor. The 360-degree hinge supports laptop, tent and tablet-style use. The review also praises the professional-looking exterior, keyboard, loud internal speakers and useful port variety, making the machine a broadly equipped work laptop rather than a convertible that depends on adapters for every peripheral.

The stylus garage is built into the right edge, so the pen has a dedicated place on the laptop. That is convenient for storage, but Notebookcheck says the stylus may feel too small or narrow. The source details do not establish which pen is included with every retail SKU, so check the listing or confirm with the seller before treating the pen as part of the package.

How long does the battery last?

Notebookcheck measured 15 hours 14 minutes in its Wi-Fi web-surfing battery test in 2026. That result describes the tested configuration under that publication’s test conditions; it is not a guaranteed runtime for every processor and panel option, or for heavier workloads such as sustained performance tasks. Use it as a useful benchmark, not an all-day promise for your own usage.

What are the main drawbacks?

  • High cost for the reviewed OLED configuration: Notebookcheck reported approximately $3,000–$3,500 for its Core Ultra 7 366H/1800p OLED unit.
  • Heat under load: Notebookcheck noted warmth around the left palm rest.
  • Performance sustainability: the review lists imperfect Turbo Boost sustainability, a consideration for long demanding workloads.
  • Panel and pen caveats: the matte panel option may look grainy, and the stylus may feel too small or narrow.

These points do not apply identically to every configuration: for example, a WUXGA LCD model is not the same screen as the reviewed 1800p OLED model. Check the exact SKU and choose according to your priorities rather than treating review observations as interchangeable across the product family.

Who should buy it?

The EliteBook X Flip G2i 14 makes the most sense for a business user who will use the 360-degree convertible form, values a well-equipped chassis and keyboard, and has a clear reason to pay for a particular higher-end display or configuration. If OLED is not essential, compare the available WUXGA LCD models and their current prices; if it is, verify that the listing explicitly specifies the OLED panel and the processor, memory and storage you want. The review’s strengths are substantial, but its premium price and the noted comfort and thermal qualifications mean the configuration—not just the product name—should drive the decision.
