Neither laptop is a clear winner from its name alone. HP 4BA40EA is reported to identify a particular Notebook 15-db0521na configuration, while Dell Latitude 5580 refers to a product family with different processors, displays, memory and storage. Compare the exact units for sale—not just their model names—and verify the HP’s screen resolution, which is reported inconsistently.
What do these model names identify?
HP 4BA40EA
A comparison dated October 3, 2026 identifies HP product code 4BA40EA #ABU as the Notebook 15-db0521na. It attributes these specifications to an HP product datasheet: AMD A6-9225 dual-core processor, 4 GB DDR4-1866 memory, 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA hard drive, integrated Radeon R4 graphics and a 15.6-inch Full HD display. The HP datasheet was not independently retrieved for that comparison, and another surfaced listing conflicts on both the panel resolution and processor wording. Treat these as reported specifications, not confirmation of the unit being sold; ask the seller to verify its regional SKU and actual panel.

Dell Latitude 5580
Latitude 5580 is not one fixed configuration. Dell’s official owner manual covers specification categories including processor, memory, storage, display, battery and power adapter. The comparison reports variations in processor, screen and storage options. Ask for the precise processor number, installed RAM, drive type and capacity, and panel resolution before treating a particular 5580 as a match for the HP.

Processor
The reported HP configuration uses an A6-9225 dual-core processor. Latitude 5580 configurations span different processor options, including dual-core and quad-core variants, according to the comparison. The Dell model name alone does not establish which processor is installed, so it cannot support a blanket claim that every 5580 is faster. Get the exact CPU model from the listing or seller.

Display
The HP is reported as Full HD in the comparison, but a conflicting listing says 1366 × 768. The Latitude 5580 also had HD and Full HD panel variants, according to that comparison. Request a clear display-resolution listing or a screenshot from Windows display settings, and confirm it corresponds to the physical laptop being sold.
Memory and storage
The reported HP configuration has 4 GB of RAM and a mechanical 1 TB hard drive. Those are modest specifications for a laptop of its model era, not a guarantee of how a used unit performs today. Latitude 5580 memory and storage vary, so check the installed amounts and whether its drive is an HDD or SSD. Dell’s manual includes M.2 SSD installation guidance, but compatibility depends on the specific system configuration; check the manual and installed parts before buying an upgrade.

Condition, price and ownership costs
For either used or refurbished machine, compare the individual unit’s battery health, screen and chassis condition, included operating system and charger, return terms, and warranty. These details are not established by the model names or documentation. No current exact-model prices or comparable owner-rating scores were established in the available comparison. Compare listings in the same market, on the same date, and with similar specifications and condition; a page with no submitted reviews is not evidence of a zero rating.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose the HP only if the seller confirms the unit is the 4BA40EA regional configuration, verifies its actual screen resolution, and offers a price and condition that suit you.
- Choose a Latitude 5580 only after confirming its exact processor, display, memory and storage. A higher-spec configuration and a base configuration are not equivalent buying options.
- If you already own a Latitude 5580, an M.2 SSD may be an upgrade path, but verify compatibility against Dell’s service documentation and the configuration of your machine first.
