An Xbox Game Pass weekly streak is completed by playing on at least five days in a week under the active quest rules. In Xbox’s January 6, 2025 announcement, a play day meant playing a Game Pass catalog game for at least 15 minutes. That threshold, the points attached to it, and the games that qualify are dated offer details, so your account’s current quest card is the final authority.
Xbox does not publish one universal reset hour, timezone, or local week boundary for every weekly streak. Use the dates, countdown and progress shown in your Rewards hub. Do not confuse this quest with the separate Microsoft Rewards daily-set streak, which follows different activity and support guidance.

What an Xbox weekly streak is
The weekly streak is a Game Pass quest in Microsoft Rewards. It measures how many separate days you play during the quest’s defined week, rather than how many total hours you play. The practical target is five qualifying play days before that week’s card expires.
Xbox’s current Earn Rewards with Xbox page says Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members unlock exclusive quests, including weekly streaks. The page also describes earning on Xbox consoles, PC, handhelds and other supported devices. Your market, account, plan and live offer can differ, so the quest list displayed after you sign in is more reliable than a general description of the program.

In a January 6, 2025 Xbox Wire announcement for Latin America, Xbox summarized the weekly requirement in Spanish: “Juega al menos cinco días a la semana para completar tu racha.” In English, that means playing at least five days a week to complete the streak. The statement describes the published 2025 rule, not a permanent guarantee for every later offer.
What counts as a play day?
The dated 15-minute rule
The January 2025 announcement said eligible Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could earn 10 points for playing any game in the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes on a day. That is the clearest published example of what Xbox called daily play. Because Xbox says offers can vary by region and change over time, treat 15 minutes and 10 points as the January 2025 terms. If your current quest card shows a different duration, game list or reward, follow that card.
One day, not one session
A qualifying day is a calendar day recognized by the quest, not a promise that every minute is counted as a separate reward. Playing for 30 or 90 minutes does not normally create multiple play days; the useful goal is to satisfy the day’s requirement once and then repeat it on four other days. Avoid assuming that leaving a game open, watching a menu or playing a title outside the catalog will qualify. The live activity card determines what Xbox is currently tracking.

The 2025 announcement referred to any Game Pass catalog game, but it also warned that some PC games requiring third-party launchers or played through Battle.net were excluded from quests at that time. That limitation is dated and does not establish every current device or launcher rule. If a game does not register, choose a title that the quest card clearly identifies as part of the current Game Pass catalog and play it through a supported Xbox or PC route.

How many days are needed, and what do the multipliers mean?
The weekly completion threshold published by Xbox is five days in the week. The same announcement described a multiplier for maintaining the streak over consecutive weeks:
| Consecutive-week result | Published January 2025 multiplier | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Two weeks | 2× | The announcement described a double multiplier after maintaining the streak for two weeks. |
| Three weeks | 3× | The announcement described a triple multiplier after three consecutive weeks. |
| More than four weeks | 4× | The announcement described a four-times multiplier for streaks longer than four weeks. |
These are published 2025 rules, not a promise that your current quest uses the same ladder. Check the multiplier text attached to your own streak card before estimating points. A missed week can interrupt a consecutive sequence even if you earned points on several individual days.
How to check your active streak
- Open Rewards with Xbox. On a console, PC or supported mobile experience, sign in to the Microsoft account connected to your Game Pass membership.
- Find the Game Pass quest area. Look for the weekly streak card or the current weekly quest rather than the separate Microsoft Rewards daily set.
- Read the exact requirement. Confirm the number of minutes, eligible games, platform notes and points shown on the card. The live card supersedes older examples such as the January 2025 15-minute rule.
- Record the progress and expiry information. Note the days completed and the displayed end date or countdown. This is the best available indication of when your account’s week closes.
- Play on five distinct days. Meet the card’s requirement on each day and return to the hub to verify that progress has updated.
Tracking may not appear instantly. After finishing the required play, leave the game normally, reconnect if necessary and check the quest again later. Do not start a second account or switch Microsoft profiles while trying to confirm progress; an activity recorded on another account will not help the streak you are viewing.

There is no official source that establishes a universal reset hour, timezone or local-week boundary for the Game Pass weekly streak. It is therefore unsafe to state that every streak resets at midnight, at a particular US time or on one fixed weekday. Xbox’s public pages describe the quest and its weekly nature but do not publish one global clock for all accounts and regions.

Use the active quest card’s expiry date, countdown and progress as the authoritative schedule for your account. If the card says the week ends in a certain number of hours, plan to finish before that displayed deadline rather than relying on a guessed midnight. A region-specific offer, account experiment or later program update may use different timing.
Why reports about a particular reset hour can conflict
Players may see different reset behavior because accounts are in different markets, offers can be tested or changed, and a dashboard can lag behind completed play. Community reports can be useful for spotting a possible pattern, but they do not establish a rule for every Xbox account. Only the dates and countdown shown on your own quest card should guide a deadline decision.
Weekly Game Pass streak versus Microsoft Rewards daily-set streak
The word “streak” is used for two separate Rewards features. Their activities and timing should not be merged:

| Feature | Activity that advances it | Time unit | What the official guidance establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game Pass weekly streak | Meet the active Game Pass play quest; the January 2025 example required at least 15 minutes in a catalog game. | At least five qualifying days in a week. | Current Xbox pages associate weekly streak quests with Game Pass Premium and Ultimate exclusive quests. No universal reset hour or timezone is published. |
| Microsoft Rewards daily-set streak | Complete the daily set shown in Microsoft Rewards. | Daily completion sequence. | Microsoft Rewards support discusses missed daily sets, account changes and VPN or device-timezone interference for this feature. |
Timezone advice on the daily-set support page does not prove that the same timezone rule controls a Game Pass weekly streak. If the daily set breaks, follow its support instructions; if the Game Pass play card fails to advance, troubleshoot the Game Pass quest itself.

Eligibility, plans and changing offers
Plan and account availability
Xbox’s current Rewards page names Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members as having access to exclusive quests that include weekly streaks. The available official pages do not provide a complete age, country and plan matrix for every current offer. Membership alone is not a guarantee that every account will display an identical quest. Open the Rewards hub while signed in to verify that the weekly streak is present.
Regional and date limits on point examples
The January 2025 announcement gave several launch-era figures: 10 points for a qualifying day, a 150-point weekly PC bonus for Rewards members aged 18 or older, and a 150-point weekly console bonus. Those figures describe the offer at that time and may not appear in your market or today’s account. Do not treat them as a fixed weekly income or as proof that a particular bonus is available to every player.
Monthly packs are separate counters
The same announcement described monthly packs for four and eight distinct games played for at least 15 minutes each. The four games also counted toward the eight-game pack. These packs are separate monthly goals, even when they use a similar play-duration test. Completing a monthly pack does not replace the five different days required for a weekly streak.

Best Value
- XBOX GIFT CARD: Buy full digital game downloads, game add-ons, in-game currency, memberships, devices, apps, movies, TV shows, and more.
- DIGITAL GAMES: Choose from hundreds of games, from AAA to indie options. Start playing the moment your most anticipated game is available when you pre-order and pre-download it.
- GAME AD-ONS: Extend the experience of your favorite games with add-ons and in-game currency.
- MOVIES & TV SHOWS: Rent or buy new and popular movies and TV shows from a massive library.
- PERFECT GIFT: Great as a gift for a friend or yourself. Xbox Gift Cards are easy to use, never expire, and give the freedom to pick the gift they want. Enjoy more ways to play without a credit card attached to your Microsoft account.
- Re-read the current card. Confirm the required minutes, eligible catalog, platform and end time. An older 15-minute instruction may no longer match a changed offer.
- Verify the account. Make sure the game profile and Rewards page use the same Microsoft account that owns or receives the Game Pass quest.
- Use a clearly eligible title. On PC, avoid a game that needs an excluded third-party launcher or Battle.net if the current card or account still applies that limitation.
- Complete the minimum in one uninterrupted attempt. Play beyond the displayed minimum to allow for tracking margin, but do not assume extra time creates extra days.
- Wait for synchronization. Close the game normally, reconnect the device and revisit the Rewards hub. A delayed update can make a completed day appear later.
- Check the week boundary. Compare the card’s countdown with the time you played. A session near expiry may fall into the next quest period or arrive after the card closed.
- Contact Microsoft Rewards support. Provide the account, quest name, date, game and approximate play time. Daily-set timezone guidance is not a substitute for account-specific help with the Game Pass quest.
Do not use a VPN or deliberately change a device timezone to try to preserve a streak. The support material mentions timezone and VPN interference for daily sets, and artificial clock changes can make activity harder to reconcile without establishing any benefit for the Game Pass weekly quest.
What the points can be used for
Microsoft says Rewards points can be redeemed for Xbox gift cards among the available choices. Redemption catalogs and values vary by market and can change, so check the options shown in your Rewards account before planning a purchase. A gift-card redemption is a use of points after earning them; buying one is not required to start, maintain or repair a streak.
Likewise, no console, controller, headset or game purchase is required by the published streak rules. The necessary action is qualifying play on an account that actually has the quest. If you are considering a Game Pass plan because the current Xbox page associates weekly streaks with Premium and Ultimate, verify the plan’s availability and the quest’s presence in your region before subscribing.

A reliable routine for protecting a streak
- Check the quest card at the start of each week and note its displayed expiry.
- Choose five separate days with enough time to complete the card’s current play requirement.
- Use a catalog title and platform that the card clearly supports.
- After each session, reopen Rewards and confirm the day incremented before assuming it counted.
- Finish the fifth day well before the countdown reaches zero; do not plan around an unverified universal reset hour.
- When a multiplier is shown, read its exact wording and treat it as an account offer that can change.
The safest definition is simple: a play day is whatever the active Game Pass quest records after you meet its current requirement. The five-day weekly threshold is the published Xbox rule, while the exact clock, points and eligibility details must be read from the live offer on your account.
