A VR game works only when its specific version supports the headset and the device or platform running it. Quest standalone, PC VR, PS5 PS VR2, and PS VR2 on PC are separate compatibility paths—not one shared VR library. Before buying or installing a game, check its store, version, headset support, and ownership requirements.
Start with the game version and the device that will run it
Compatibility depends on more than the headset. Confirm four things for the exact title: which store sells the version you want, what device runs it, whether that version supports your headset and controllers, and whether you already own the required entitlement. A listing for one platform does not establish support for another.

- Headset alone: the game must be a standalone version that runs on Quest.
- Windows PC: the game must support PC VR, and the PC must meet the game’s requirements.
- PS5: the title must support PS VR2 on PS5.
- Windows PC with PS VR2: you need Sony’s adapter and setup, and the game must be available on Steam and work with the PC setup.
Store catalogs and supported versions can change. Check the current listing for the platform you plan to use rather than relying on a general label such as “VR game.”

Quest standalone games run on the headset
A standalone Quest title runs directly on the headset. It is not automatically the same build as a PC VR release, even if the game has the same name.

Quest Link connects the headset to PC VR
Meta Quest Link lets supported Quest headsets connect to a compatible Windows PC and access PC VR software. In this path, the PC runs the PC VR title; Link is the connection and software route, not a conversion that makes every standalone Quest game into its PC version. Meta’s Quest Link documentation covers PC VR titles, Link settings, and USB connection behavior.
Cross-buy is title-specific
Some Meta store titles support cross-buy, which can grant access to versions on more than one Meta platform. It is not a universal entitlement: buying a Quest version does not generally promise a PC version, or vice versa. Check whether the specific game is currently marked as cross-buy in the Meta store’s cross-buy selection and review that game’s listing before purchase.

PS VR2 compatibility on PS5
PS VR2 is compatible with PS5, not PS4. Original PlayStation VR and PS VR2 are also separate generations: PS VR cannot play PS VR2 games, and PS VR2 cannot play PS VR games. Sony advises checking the VR compatibility information on each title’s PlayStation Store page. See Sony’s PS VR2 compatibility guidance.
Check play-area requirements
Some PS VR2 games support room-scale play, which Sony defines as requiring a freely movable area of at least 2 m × 2 m (6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in). Look at the game’s PlayStation Store page for its supported play styles and make sure your available space meets the title’s needs.

What changes when you use PS VR2 on PC
With Sony’s PC adapter and required setup, PS VR2 can play supported VR games available on Steam. This gives access to Steam’s PC VR catalog; it does not combine that catalog with the PS5 PS VR2 catalog. Sony’s support page answers which games PS VR2 on PC can play.
Some PS VR2 features available on PS5 are not available on PC. Sony lists HDR output, eye tracking, headset feedback, adaptive triggers, and Sense controller haptic feedback beyond basic vibration among the unavailable features. Play-area behavior differs too: the headset does not automatically switch to see-through mode when you leave the play area, and PS5 play-style categories do not apply in the same way on PC.

PS VR2 on PC: equipment and setup
Required hardware and software
Sony’s documented setup calls for a PS VR2 headset and Sense controllers, the PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, and a Bluetooth adapter if your PC lacks Bluetooth. The adapter and cable are separate items, and Sony specifies a direct connection to the PC. You also need the PlayStation VR2 App and SteamVR. See Sony’s PS VR2 PC adapter requirements and the PlayStation VR2 App page on Steam.
PC requirements
Sony lists these minimum requirements for the PS VR2 PC setup:
- Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later).
- Memory: 8 GB RAM.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1650 (Turing or later) or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT/RX 6500XT, or a supported equivalent listed by Sony.
Sony recommends an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later for best performance. These are adapter/setup requirements, not a guarantee that every Steam VR game will run well: individual games may require more capable hardware. Check both Sony’s requirements and the game’s own Steam listing before relying on a PC configuration.
A quick compatibility check before buying
- Choose the runtime device: Quest headset alone, Windows PC, PS5, or Windows PC with PS VR2.
- Open the exact game listing: use the store for the version you intend to play. Confirm that the listing explicitly supports the platform and headset combination.
- Verify ownership: check whether you need a separate purchase, or whether the specific Meta title supports cross-buy.
- Check connection and equipment: Quest PC VR requires a compatible PC and Link connection; PS VR2 PC requires Sony’s adapter, DisplayPort 1.4, software, and any needed Bluetooth hardware.
- Compare requirements and play space: check the game’s own PC specifications and, for room-scale PS VR2 play, the title’s play-style requirements against your available area.
Sony described the PC adapter as letting players expand their library with “thousands of SteamVR titles” in its June 3, 2024 announcement. That is Sony’s characterization of the SteamVR catalog, not a guarantee that every title will work with every setup; confirm support and requirements in the individual listing.
