How Virtualplatform Aims to Change the Traditional Telco Service Model

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Virtualplatform is positioning itself as a software operating layer for telecom and technology service providers that need to manage services from multiple suppliers. Rather than acting as a carrier that necessarily owns the access network, it says it connects the work around a service—from qualification and ordering to provisioning, support and billing—in one system.

What Virtualplatform does

Australian company Virtualplatform describes its product as a service-provider operating platform: software intended to coordinate supplier systems and a provider’s customer-facing operations. The company says it serves resellers, wholesalers and network operators, adapting the platform to their different business models. It is not described as an operator that necessarily owns the underlying network.

Its stated service categories include connectivity, compute, voice, SD-WAN and SASE. The product pages describe supplier integrations and connections to CRM, PSA, billing, notification and payment systems, alongside branded sign-up and white-label customer experiences.

How it addresses supplier portals and manual processes

The problem Virtualplatform aims to address is operational fragmentation. A provider working across carriers and technology suppliers may have to qualify an address in one system, submit an order in another, chase provisioning updates by email, and then reconcile supplier charges against its own customer billing. According to the company, its platform normalizes supplier systems and reduces these manual handoffs.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Co-founder Stuart Wallis told ARN that using a supplier portal did not remove the provider’s intermediary role: “I still had to use that portal, and my customer still had to come through me.” Co-founder Piers Tyler described suppliers that still depend on manual exchanges: “Even today, we encounter suppliers that require interaction through email, PDF forms and other manual processes.” These are the founders’ accounts of the problem, not independent measurements of how widespread it is.

Which parts of the service lifecycle it covers

Virtualplatform says its system covers the lifecycle from customer sign-up through service changes and billing. The company’s product descriptions include:

  • Changes: managing upgrades, relocations and other service modifications.

  • Customer experience: supporting branded sign-up and white-label service journeys.

The practical distinction from a single-carrier portal is the intended breadth: a portal typically exposes one supplier’s processes, while Virtualplatform says it provides a shared operating layer across suppliers. The value of that approach depends on which supplier integrations are available and how well exceptions—such as failed orders, disputed charges or faults requiring supplier intervention—are handled.

Who the platform is designed for

  • MSPs and ISPs: managing multiple supplier services, customer orders and support workflows.

  • Wholesale providers: enabling resellers and managing tiered pricing.
  • Retail brands and MVNOs: creating branded offers while relying on underlying supplier services.
  • Multi-site enterprises: centrally managing connectivity across locations.

These categories show why the product should not be read as a single connectivity offer. A reseller, a fibre operator and an enterprise managing many sites may all use an operating platform, but their supplier relationships and workflows are not the same.

Why the company says the model is changing

ARN’s 2 October 2026 report describes Virtualplatform’s origins in the founders’ experience with managed services and telecommunications. Wallis said he encountered suppliers with either no usable system or separate portals that still left the MSP between the supplier and its customer. Tyler pointed to commoditisation and its effects on sales, operations and billing. The report says the company began as an aggregator, then developed a platform and started delivering services directly to help smaller providers enter the market.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

Tyler illustrated commoditisation with a personal recollection: when he came to Australia in 1995, he said he charged $2,000 per megabit per second for wholesale IP transit; “nowadays,” he said, the price was “about 20 cents, if you’re lucky.” That comparison is Tyler’s recollection as reported by ARN, not an independently sourced price series or a verified current market rate.

What is established—and what is not

The company’s pages describe a broad set of intended workflows, but those descriptions establish product positioning rather than independently verified results. The available sources do not establish customer counts, revenue, market share, implementation times, savings, reliability results or customer outcomes. They also do not provide public pricing. Claims that the platform reduces operational effort should therefore be assessed against a provider’s own integration requirements and evidence from an evaluation, rather than treated as measured performance.

How a provider should evaluate an operating platform

For a business considering this category, the important question is not simply how many integrations are listed. It is whether the platform fits the business model and reduces friction across the work that currently falls between suppliers, staff and customers. A practical evaluation should cover:

  • Which suppliers and service types are supported, and whether the required workflows are live.
  • How qualification, order submission, status updates and provisioning exceptions are handled.
  • Whether assurance and fault workflows provide enough information to support customers and escalate issues.
  • How supplier charges are reconciled with the provider’s billing model, including tiered pricing where relevant.
  • How much of the customer experience can be branded, and which CRM, PSA, billing, notification and payment systems can be connected.
  • What evidence is available for reliability, implementation effort, support quality and any claimed savings.

That assessment also clarifies the build-versus-buy decision. A provider can develop and maintain its own integrations and workflows, or use a third-party operating layer; either way, it remains important to establish who handles supplier changes, data mismatches and exceptions over time.
