How to put on Shokz OpenRun-style headphones
- Check the model. These steps apply to wraparound bone-conduction models such as OpenRun, not every Shokz open-ear headphone.
- Position the band. Bring the band around the back of your head or neck and hook the arms over your ears.
- Place the transducers. Rest each one just in front of the ear, against the cheekbone area. They should not sit in or over the ear canal.
- Adjust for light, secure contact. The band and transducers should stay in place without creating uncomfortable pressure.
- Check sound and comfort. Play audio at a comfortable level. If it sounds muffled or uneven, make small changes to the transducer position and reassess how the headphones feel.
- Check the fit before you run. Turn your head as you normally would and make sure the headphones remain stable. Repeat the check with the glasses, hat, or helmet you intend to wear.

Choose the size that feels stable without squeezing
Shokz lists OpenRun in Standard and Mini sizes. The company describes the Mini’s band as 0.83 inches shorter than the Standard band and says it may suit smaller heads or people who prefer a snugger fit. Shokz does not publish a universal head-measurement threshold for choosing between them, so use its sizing FAQ and judge the fit by comfort and stability rather than assuming one size fits a particular head measurement. Accessories can change how a headphone band or ear hook sits, so test the combination you plan to use rather than relying on a general compatibility claim. Shokz says its OpenRun Air 2 is designed to work with most glasses, running hats, and everyday headwear, while noting that fit varies with accessory shape. Its helmet guidance recommends checking that both the headphones and helmet remain securely positioned. These statements are model- and fit-specific; they do not establish that every Shokz model works with every accessory.

Keep the fit comfortable and listening sensible
- If contact feels uncomfortable, loosen or reposition the headphones; do not try to make them feel more secure by tightening them until they hurt.
- If sound is muffled or unbalanced, try small transducer-position changes and reassess both sound and comfort.
- Open-ear headphones leave the ears uncovered, but that alone does not make every volume or running environment safe. Keep playback at a comfortable level and remain attentive to your surroundings.
