Identify your Galaxy Buds design
Look up the model name in your device settings, the Galaxy Wearable app, or the original packaging. The shape determines how the earbuds should sit and which adjustment method applies.

Galaxy Buds3: open-type, without ear tips
- Match the L and R marks to the corresponding ears.
- Insert each earbud with its marking facing you.
- Angle the blade so the bottom microphone points toward your mouth.
- Rotate the earbud slightly forward or backward until it feels comfortable.
Do not try to fit an in-ear tip or apply tip-sizing instructions to open-type Buds3. Samsung’s Buds3 wearing guidance describes this model separately from the tip-equipped versions.

Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Buds3 FE: choose and seat a tip
- Try the supplied tip sizes and choose one that sits comfortably in your ear.
- Match the L and R marks, then place each bud in its corresponding ear.
- Angle the blade so the lower microphone points toward your mouth.
- Make a small forward or backward rotation to settle the fit.
Samsung says the ear tip should sit without a gap against the ear to help avoid sound leakage. Its guidance puts it this way: “You want them to fit so that there isn’t a gap between your ear and the ear tip.” This advice applies to Buds3 Pro and Buds3 FE, not open-type Buds3. Do not force the earbuds deeper or use the Pro without its tips. See Samsung’s instructions for Buds3, Buds3 Pro, and Buds3 FE.
Galaxy Buds and Buds+: use the wingtip as well as the tip
- Attach the ear tip and wingtip before wearing the earbuds.
- Insert each earbud with the wingtip facing upward, stopping when it feels comfortable.
- Rotate the earbud to adjust its position.
- If comfort or sound quality is poor, try another supplied size.
Do not use these models without their ear tips or pull the tips excessively. Samsung’s model-specific steps are in its Galaxy Buds and Buds+ wearing guide.

How to tell whether the fit is right
A good fit should feel comfortable and stable without painful pressure. On tip-equipped models, try the supplied sizes and make small positioning adjustments; for Buds3 Pro and Buds3 FE, Samsung advises against a gap between the tip and ear because it can allow sound to leak. If your model supports the software fit test, use it as an additional check rather than relying on it for models where Samsung does not list the feature.

Run the earbud fit test on supported models
Samsung’s current US compatibility page lists Galaxy Buds4 Pro, Buds3 Pro, Buds2 Pro, and Buds2. It does not list Buds3, Buds4, original Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, or Buds Pro as compatible. Samsung may change compatibility or menus, so check the current fit-test support page if your device differs.

- Connect the earbuds to your device.
- Open the earbuds’ settings and select Sound quality and effects.
- Select Earbud fit test, then tap Start.
- If the result indicates a poor fit, adjust the earbuds and repeat the test.
On software older than One UI 8.0, Samsung says the settings may instead be in the Galaxy Wearable app.
Prevent slipping without forcing the fit
- Confirm that the model-specific pieces are attached: tip-equipped buds need the correct tips, and Galaxy Buds and Buds+ also need their wingtips.
- Try another supplied tip size if a tip-equipped model feels loose or uncomfortable.
- Make small rotations to adjust the position; do not push the bud in with excessive force.
- If a model’s shape or controls differ from these instructions, follow the Samsung guide for that exact model and region rather than copying another model’s fit method.
Keep your ears and earbuds clean and dry
Samsung recommends regular gentle cleaning and periodically removing the earbuds to let your ears dry, which helps reduce moisture buildup. Its cleaning instructions vary by model; where applicable, it recommends dry cloths, cotton swabs, and dry brushes. Avoid harsh chemicals and metal or wire brushes. Follow Samsung’s model-specific Galaxy earbuds cleaning instructions instead of assuming one method works for every design.

When to stop wearing them
Do not force an earbud into place. Samsung advises discontinuing use and consulting a doctor if you experience ear pain or skin irritation. If the discomfort persists despite a gentle adjustment, stop wearing the earbuds rather than trying to secure them with more pressure.
