You can use an Oura Ring and Apple Watch together without letting both contribute to the same Apple Health category. For steps, set Oura as the preferred source in Apple Health; if duplicate records remain, stop Oura from writing Steps. You can configure other data categories separately.
How to prevent duplicate step records
Apple Health lets you choose the order of sources for each data type. The source at the top takes priority when multiple sources contribute the same type of data, according to Apple Support. Oura recommends prioritizing its data in the Steps source list when you use multiple fitness devices.

On your iPhone, open Health.

Go to Browse > Activity > Steps > Data Sources & Access > Edit.

Drag Oura to the top of the list if you want Apple Health to prefer Oura for Steps.

This controls which source Apple Health prioritizes for Steps; it does not change what the Apple Watch itself records. It also does not guarantee that the two devices will show identical step totals. Oura notes that wearables can use different methods and thresholds to classify steps.
If Oura steps still appear alongside another source
Turn off Oura’s permission to write Steps: open iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Oura, then switch off Steps. Oura will no longer write its step data to Apple Health, while you can leave other Oura sharing permissions enabled. Apple Health also allows sources to be reordered or disabled for individual categories.

Choose which health data the apps share
You do not have to enable every available category. In the Oura app, go to Menu > Settings > Data sharing > Apple Health and enable the connection and categories you want. You can also review permissions in iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Oura. These are Oura’s documented paths; labels can vary with app and iOS versions.

Oura specifies that exported heart-rate data is recorded at one-minute intervals. Its exported active energy represents activity calories and excludes basal metabolic rate, so do not treat it as interchangeable with a calorie figure that includes resting energy.
Decide which device should be the preferred source
There is no single best device to prioritize for every category. Choose category by category according to which data you want Apple Health to prefer, or prevent a device from contributing a category by disabling its write permission. Steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts, and active energy have separate sharing and source controls.

Changing the source order in Apple Health does not make the devices use the same measurement method. Step counts can differ, and calorie figures may represent different things. For example, Oura’s active energy excludes basal metabolic rate.

The Oura Apple Watch app is a companion to the iPhone app, not a direct connection between the ring and watch. The ring must sync to the Oura app on the iPhone before that data reaches the watch companion, and Oura says the watch app does not update in real time.

Oura also notes that its steps do not move Apple’s Stand Ring because of an Apple limitation. This is specific to the Stand Ring; it does not mean Oura step records cannot appear in Apple Health.
Check compatibility and settings
Oura’s Apple Health integration is documented for Gen2 and Gen3 or later rings on iOS with an active membership. Confirm that your ring and account meet Oura’s current requirements. If a settings label or path differs on your iPhone, check the installed iOS and app versions and consult Oura’s current integration guide.
