The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power streams on Prime Video. Amazon says Seasons 1 and 2—16 episodes in total—are available there, and Season 3 is also announced as a Prime Video exclusive. Its scheduled 2026 release dates are November 11, 18, and 25.
Where to watch The Rings of Power in 2026
Prime Video is the announced exclusive streaming home for Season 3, and Amazon says the first two seasons are currently streaming on the service. The premiere is planned for more than 240 countries and territories, but that does not guarantee identical local catalogs, subscription requirements, or prices. Check your country’s Prime Video storefront for current availability and terms. Amazon’s Season 3 announcement has the series and schedule details.

Season 3 release schedule
Amazon’s announced schedule groups the eight episodes into three releases:

| November 11, 2026 | First four episodes |

What to watch first
The series is set in Middle-earth’s Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Amazon’s viewing guide describes two ways to approach the wider franchise:
- Release order: Watch the Lord of the Rings films and Hobbit films before the prequel series. This preserves the films’ original reveal sequence.
- Chronological order: Start with The Rings of Power, then watch The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings films in the story’s forward direction.
Neither approach is required to follow the series. For Season 3, Amazon’s synopsis says several years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies are advancing as he works on the One Ring, while the remaining peoples face the struggle to resist him.
Devices and offline viewing
A new streaming device is not inherently required. Prime Video lists support across categories including Amazon devices, Blu-ray players, game consoles, mobile devices, set-top boxes and media players, and smart TVs with the app. Compatibility depends on the specific model, so check the current app listing or Amazon’s supported-device help page.
Amazon says downloads are available through the Prime Video app on Fire tablets and specified iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows platforms. The help page also describes downloads for television seasons and individual episodes, and says downloaded playback over Chromecast or AirPlay is not permitted. See Amazon’s download help page for current platform details.

Amazon reported in 2024 that more than 100 million people worldwide had viewed Season 1. That is a historical, company-reported figure—not a current audience count. In 2022, Amazon’s US press center reported more than 25 million global viewers on the first day and called it Prime Video’s biggest premiere at the time. Neither figure indicates how many people watch the series now.
