For a UK Sky subscriber, Sky Go streaming is not available abroad under Sky’s published rules. Download eligible programmes over Wi-Fi before you leave and watch them offline. Republic of Ireland subscriptions are different: Sky says customers can stream in many European countries for up to 30 days.
Does Sky Go work abroad for UK customers?
No. Sky says UK customers are not entitled to stream Sky outside the UK using Sky apps, and specifically lists Sky Go as unavailable to UK customers travelling in the EU. Leaving the UK does not become an exception because you have a compatible device, a roaming data plan or a reliable internet connection. See Sky’s guidance on using Sky apps abroad.

Sky’s guidance also distinguishes which apps UK travellers can use in the EU: Sky News, Sky Sports Score Centre and Sky Store are listed as available; Sky Go, Sky Sports and Sky Box Office are listed as unavailable. Availability of those other apps does not change the Sky Go restriction.

Sky recommends downloading eligible shows and films over Wi-Fi before leaving home, then watching them offline abroad. Sky Go Extra describes downloads made over Wi-Fi in the UK or Republic of Ireland for playback without Wi-Fi or mobile data. Only some content is downloadable, so check the programme in the app rather than assuming every title is available.

- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
- Before departure, connect to Wi-Fi at home. Open Sky Go and find the programme or film you want to watch.
- Download the title if the app offers that option. Wait for the download to finish; do not rely on a queued or incomplete download.
- Check playback preparation. Before you travel, confirm that the title appears as downloaded and can be opened for offline viewing. Sky does not guarantee every download will remain available for the whole trip, so check the app’s current title and download rules.
- Watch the downloaded title offline. This avoids needing mobile data or Wi-Fi for playback, but it does not enable live or on-demand streaming from abroad.
Sky says Sky Go is included with a Sky TV subscription. Sky Go Extra offers downloads and use across phones, tablets, laptops, Xbox and PlayStation; some customers get Extra through a Multiscreen or Whole Home subscription, while some Sky+ or Sky Q customers can pay for it. Check your package and the current app requirements before travelling. Details are on Sky’s Sky Go page and Sky Go Extra help.
Republic of Ireland subscriptions: a separate rule
Sky’s product page says customers with a Republic of Ireland subscription can stream in many European countries for up to 30 days. That allowance belongs to an Ireland subscription; it is not a UK-customer exception. Sky’s statement is a product-page limit and may change, so Ireland subscribers should check the current terms and destination availability before setting off. See Sky Ireland’s Sky Go page.

| Situation | Streaming abroad | Offline viewing |
|---|---|---|
| UK Sky subscription | Sky says Sky Go is unavailable abroad under its published guidance. | Eligible content can be downloaded before travel and watched offline, subject to the app’s current rules. |

Devices, registration and travel connections
Sky lists iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac devices as supported categories, subject to rights and current requirements. A device category is not a guarantee that every model or operating-system version will work; check the app store and Sky’s requirements for your specific device before travelling. An Android tablet can be a larger screen for eligible downloads, but it does not grant permission for a UK account to stream abroad.
Sky’s device-management guidance says up to six compatible devices may be registered for Sky Go (+/Q), and games consoles can be used on up to two at a time. If you reach a registration limit while preparing, use Sky’s current device-management guidance at Sky Go device management.

- The Google TV Streamer (4K) delivers your favorite entertainment quickly, easily, and personalized to you[1,2]
- HDMI 2.1 cable required (sold separately)
- See movies and TV shows from all your services right from your home screen[2]; and find new things to watch with tailored recommendations for everyone in your home based on their interests and viewing habits
- Watch live TV and access over 800 free channels from Pluto TV, Tubi, and more[3]; if you find an interesting show or movie on your TV, mobile app, or Google search, you can easily add it to your watchlist, so it’s ready when you are[2]
- Up to 4K HDR with Dolby Vision delivers captivating, true-to-life detail[4]; and you can connect speakers that support Dolby Atmos for more immersive 3D sound
A travel data plan or eSIM can provide internet access for services that permit use at your destination, but it does not override Sky’s location restriction. It is also unnecessary for playing downloads you have successfully prepared for offline viewing.
