To watch Prime Video on a TV, first check its app store or installed apps for Prime Video. If the app is available, open it and sign in. If not, check support for your exact TV model or use a compatible streaming player or game console you already own.
Which devices can run Prime Video?
Amazon lists Prime Video apps for selected smart TVs, Fire TV devices, media players, game consoles, phones and tablets, and computers. Support depends on the specific model and configuration, not just the device category or manufacturer. Check Amazon’s Supported Devices page and the device maker’s support information before relying on a particular feature.

Smart TVs
Amazon lists selected models from manufacturers including Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, VIZIO, Hisense, Philips, Sharp, and TCL. Not every model from those brands is supported. Amazon specifically notes that Prime Video is no longer supported on some Samsung models released in 2012. See the current smart TV compatibility list for model-specific details.

Streaming players and set-top boxes
Amazon lists selected Chromecast, Google TV and TV Streamer, Roku, and Apple TV devices. Its compatibility table lists up to Ultra HD for the listed Chromecast, Google TV, and Roku entries; for Apple TV, it lists up to Ultra HD on Apple TV 4K and up to HD on other models. These are maximum listed capabilities, not a promise that every title will play at that resolution. Model, title, subscription, region, network, and connected display can affect playback. Phones, tablets, and computers
Amazon’s mobile-device table includes Android and iOS devices and Windows 10 and 11. It lists up to Ultra HD for Android and up to HD for iOS and Windows, while noting that features depend on the specific model and configuration. Check the mobile device list for current details.
Game consoles
Amazon lists PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. Its table distinguishes Xbox One S and One X from other Xbox One models; capabilities vary across generations and models. Consult the console compatibility list rather than assuming all consoles support the same picture quality or features.

How to install and watch Prime Video on a TV
- Check for the app. Open your TV’s app store or installed-apps list and search for Prime Video. Menu names and installation steps vary by TV model and software.
- Install or open it. If the app is available but not installed, follow the TV’s prompts to install it. Otherwise, open the existing app.
- Sign in and choose a title. Follow the on-screen sign-in instructions, then browse or search in the app.
On Fire TV, you can open Prime Video from the home screen, find it through search, or launch the Prime Video app. Browse or search for a title there, or cast Prime Video from a mobile device. Amazon’s Fire TV instructions cover the available paths.

Amazon documents casting to Chromecast or Android TV, Fire TV, and Echo Show 15. Casting to other devices may not be supported. For the documented options, the phone and target device need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Chromecast or Android TV
- Connect the phone and TV or streaming device to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On an iPhone or iPad, allow Prime Video to access the Local Network in the device’s privacy settings.
- Open Prime Video, tap the Cast icon, and select the Chromecast target.
Fire TV or Echo Show 15
- Connect the phone and Fire TV or Echo Show 15 to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Sign in to Prime Video with the same Amazon account on both devices.
- Open Prime Video on the phone, tap Cast, and select the target device.
For other targets, Amazon recommends using the latest Prime Video app and notes that casting may not be available. See Amazon’s casting instructions for the documented requirements.
What to do if Prime Video is not available on your TV
- Verify the exact model. Search Amazon’s current TV compatibility list and the manufacturer’s support page. A brand name alone does not establish app support, and older models may have lost support.
- Check other devices you already own. A supported media player or game console connected to the TV may provide access without replacing the TV.
- Consider a streaming player only if needed. If no compatible device is available, compare current player support and the other apps you want before buying one. A new player is unnecessary if your TV, player, or console already supports Prime Video.
Troubleshoot casting and app discovery
- Confirm the phone and target are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- For Fire TV or Echo Show 15, confirm both devices use the same Amazon account.
- On iOS, check that Prime Video has Local Network permission when casting to Chromecast or Android TV.
- Update Prime Video to the latest version if casting is unavailable, and check whether the target device is supported.
- If the target still does not appear, restart the phone and target device, then check the Wi-Fi connection. Menu paths and further reset steps depend on the device; consult its manufacturer’s support instructions.
