Yes, you can usually watch NFL games abroad, but the answer depends on where your subscription was bought, the country you are visiting and that destination’s broadcast rights. For Americans leaving the United States, DAZN describes NFL Travel Pass as the official route to its international NFL Game Pass product in more than 200 countries. Existing international subscribers may be covered by DAZN’s Global Portability. Neither option is available everywhere: the United States, Canada and China are specifically excluded from the stated travel coverage, and local blackouts can remove particular games from live viewing.
Check the destination and the week’s rights notices before you fly. A compatible phone, laptop or streaming device can deliver an available game, but no device or hotel-TV setup can override a territorial restriction.

Choose the right path for your account
The first question is not which app is installed on your television. It is where the subscription originated and where you will be when you watch.
| Subscription situation | What the official information says | Important limits |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. viewer traveling outside the U.S. | DAZN’s NFL Travel Pass is described for Americans traveling abroad and provides access to the international NFL Game Pass product. | DAZN states coverage in more than 200 countries, excluding the U.S., Canada and China. Confirm the exact country in your account before departure. |
| Existing international NFL Game Pass subscriber | DAZN describes Global Portability, allowing use of NFL Game Pass worldwide. | The U.S., Canada and China are named as excluded locations. Your account’s purchase country and current terms still matter. |
| Traveler entering the U.S., Canada or China | Do not assume an international subscription will play normally there. | Those countries are specifically excluded in the cited portability and Travel Pass descriptions. Check local rights and an authorized service instead. |
| Viewer who only needs selected games | A licensed broadcaster in the destination may carry a local package or free-to-air games. | Local schedules, apps and availability vary by country and week. |
DAZN’s own description says, “NFL Travel Pass on DAZN allows American’s traveling outside the U.S. to watch DAZN’s NFL Game Pass product internationally in over 200 countries around the world*.” The wording is DAZN’s product description, not a guarantee that every game is live in every country on every date.

Why an “international” subscription can still be restricted
Territorial rights follow your viewing location
Sports rights are licensed by territory. When the service identifies the country from your connection, it applies the rights rules for that location. A subscription that works at home may therefore show a different schedule, a delayed replay or no stream for a particular matchup while you are abroad.
Live access and on-demand access are different
“Available” does not always mean “available live.” A game can be blocked during its broadcast window and released later, or a local broadcaster can have exclusive live rights while the international service keeps replay access. Check the listing for the specific game and kickoff date rather than relying on the package name.
The 200-country figure is a scope, not a country-by-country guarantee
DAZN says Travel Pass coverage extends to over 200 countries, with the U.S., Canada and China excluded. The public product description does not establish a universal live-rights chart for every destination. Treat the figure as the stated service footprint and verify your itinerary, including stopovers and hotel locations.
U.K. and Republic of Ireland: the clearest blackout example
The U.K. and Ireland demonstrate why a valid international subscription does not promise every Sunday game live. DAZN’s blackout guidance says that, during the regular season, two Sunday games each week are unavailable live in these territories:

- One game in the 18:00 BST slot.
- One game in the 21:00 BST slot.
Each affected game is made available on demand 24 hours after it ends. DAZN says the listed Sunday-, Monday- and Thursday-night games, U.S. Thanksgiving games, playoff games and the Super Bowl are not affected by those stated Sunday blackouts. It also warns that additional restrictions may apply under regional rights and regulations, so consult the current weekly blackout listing.
Local options can fill some gaps. The NFL’s 2026 U.K. and Ireland announcement identifies Sky Sports, 5 and Virgin Media Television/PLAY as local partners. In the U.K., two Sunday regular-season games are scheduled to air free on 5 platforms each week. In Ireland, Virgin Media Television/PLAY’s announced 2026 agreement includes at least 22 free-to-air games. Exact games and streaming availability should be checked in the local broadcaster’s schedule.
Prepare before leaving home
Complete these checks while your normal home connection is still available. They reduce the chance of discovering an account or device problem at kickoff.
- Identify your account type. Determine whether you need U.S. NFL Travel Pass or whether your existing subscription is an international Game Pass account with Global Portability.
- Enter every destination country. If your trip crosses borders, check each country, not just the place where you first land. Pay particular attention to any U.S., Canadian or Chinese stop.
- Review the week’s game listings. Look for live, delayed and on-demand labels, plus a destination-specific blackout notice. Do this again close to kickoff because rights information can change.
- Check local broadcasters. Search the licensed network or free-to-air service in your destination for the matchup. This is especially useful in the U.K. and Ireland when a Sunday game is blacked out on the international service.
- Sign in on your intended devices. Test the DAZN app or website on your phone, tablet and laptop. Sign out and back in if the service uses a travel or portability entitlement.
- Prepare a hotel-TV method. Confirm that the television accepts casting, an HDMI connection or the streaming stick you plan to carry. The NFL says Game Pass works across compatible devices, but the official information does not verify every television model, hotel network or app combination.
- Save an offline fallback. Download permitted highlights or on-demand material when the service allows it. This will not replace a live game, but it helps if hotel bandwidth is poor.
How to watch at the hotel or on the move
Use the simplest supported screen first
A phone, tablet or laptop is usually the easiest test because it avoids hotel-TV restrictions. Use the official DAZN app or website, sign in with the account that has the travel entitlement and confirm that the game appears in the schedule before attempting to cast it.

Connect to a hotel television only after playback works
If the television supports casting, pair it on the same hotel network as your phone. For an HDMI setup, connect your own laptop or a compatible streaming stick and select the correct input. Hotel televisions may disable guest HDMI ports, require a remote-control unlock or isolate devices on the Wi-Fi network. These are hotel-network problems, not evidence that your subscription has failed.
Expect network friction
Busy hotel Wi-Fi can cause buffering, dropped playback or repeated sign-ins. If possible, test a wired connection, use a personal hotspot that permits streaming, move closer to the access point or lower the app’s video quality. Do not mistake buffering for a blackout: a rights restriction normally produces a clear unavailable message or removes the live listing entirely.
Destination decision guide
Traveling from the U.S. to a supported country
Use the Travel Pass route described by DAZN, confirm that the country is supported and check that week’s rights notices. The product description says NFL Game Pass includes every NFL game, playoffs and the Super Bowl, RedZone, NFL Network and on-demand content such as highlights and NFL Films documentaries. Availability of a specific title still depends on the destination’s rights at that time.
Traveling with an international Game Pass account
Use Global Portability as described by DAZN. Keep the account’s original billing and country information accurate, and verify the destination before departure. Portability is not permission to relocate the account permanently or to choose a different country merely because it displays a more favorable schedule.

Entering the U.S., Canada or China
Do not plan on Travel Pass or international portability working there. The stated exclusions apply to all three countries. Look for an authorized service in the country you are entering and check whether your home subscription offers replay access after you return.
Traveling to the U.K. or Ireland
Check DAZN’s blackout page for the exact Sunday games and time slots. If a game is affected, use the relevant local broadcaster where available or wait for the 24-hour on-demand release. Primetime, Thanksgiving, playoff and Super Bowl listings have the exemptions described by DAZN, but review the current notice rather than assuming every season follows the same pattern.

A game played in a country does not automatically mean every visitor there can watch it through the same service. Rights depend on the destination, the matchup and the licensed broadcaster. Use the game schedule to plan your trip; use the service and local-rights listings to plan your viewing.
Common situations and the best response
| What you see | Likely explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The game is missing before kickoff. | A territorial restriction or local exclusive right may apply. | Check the destination’s blackout notice and licensed broadcasters. |
| The listing says on demand, not live. | The game is subject to a delayed-release rule. | Note the release time; in the stated U.K./Ireland Sunday example, it is 24 hours after the game ends. |
| Your password works but playback is blocked. | The account is valid, but the current country is outside its portability scope. | Confirm the country, account origin and any U.S., Canada or China exclusion. |
| The app works on your phone but not the hotel TV. | The television, HDMI port, casting setup or hotel network is incompatible. | Watch on the phone or laptop, or troubleshoot the hotel connection; hardware cannot change rights. |
| Video buffers constantly. | Hotel Wi-Fi, congestion or a weak hotspot is limiting throughput. | Try another network, reduce quality or use a wired connection where available. |
| A VPN changes the apparent country but the account is rejected. | DAZN detects and blocks the use, and its terms prohibit VPN-based international subscription signup. | Stop the workaround and use the authorized service for the country you are visiting. |
Why a VPN is not an official workaround
DAZN states: “Using a VPN to subscribe to NFL GPI from another country is against DAZN’s terms and conditions and will be blocked by our technology.” Do not create an account with a false billing country, subscribe through a VPN or advise a traveling companion to do so. Even if a VPN temporarily changes a location signal, it does not grant the underlying broadcast rights and can trigger account or playback blocks.
Device and account requirements
- Supported device: Use a current phone, tablet, computer or other device supported by the official app or website. Compatibility is necessary but does not override territory rules.
- Stable connection: Hotel Wi-Fi, cellular data and public networks can all vary in speed and reliability. Test the connection before the game.
- Correct account: Travel Pass and international Game Pass are different pathways. Make sure you are signing in to the account that actually holds the entitlement.
- Updated software: Install app and operating-system updates before departure so an update does not interrupt a live event.
- Power and data: Carry a charger and check cellular roaming limits if a hotspot is your backup.
A practical game-day procedure
- Open the official service at least 30 minutes before kickoff.
- Confirm that the device location and account display the country you are actually visiting.
- Open the game’s details page and read the live, delayed or blackout status.
- If live playback is offered, start it on the device that passed your pre-trip test.
- If the hotel television fails, continue on the phone or laptop rather than missing the opening minutes while troubleshooting casting.
- If the game is unavailable, check the local broadcaster and the stated on-demand release time instead of repeatedly refreshing.
What you should not assume
- An existing U.S. subscription automatically follows you into every country.
- “Over 200 countries” means every game is live everywhere.
- A streaming stick can bypass a blackout.
- The international game schedule identifies who owns viewing rights in each market.
- A VPN is an approved portability method.
- A game that is unavailable live is permanently unavailable; some restrictions release a replay later.
Bottom line for travelers
Start with your subscription’s origin, then verify the country you will be in and the specific game’s rights. U.S. travelers should check DAZN’s NFL Travel Pass; international subscribers should check Global Portability. Treat the U.S., Canada and China as explicit exclusions in the stated travel descriptions, and expect destination-specific restrictions such as the two weekly Sunday blackouts described for the U.K. and Ireland. Test your account and device before leaving, keep a local broadcaster as a backup and never rely on VPN-based signup to manufacture access.
